    My only problem with kickback is that most of the blessings on the gun are actually terrible for it. A ton of "constant shooting" type blessings which are very odd on a single shot gun.
    Also I would love if the "shoot while sprinting" blessing would also let you reload while sprinting. Shooting while sprinting isn't that useful on a single shot gun that will reload immediately and stop your sprint.

      Fartshart nerfed the reloading a few patches back, which "nerfed" it; sadly it's still the strongest gun for ogryn imo unless youre running gun lugger build

      Run and gun is mostly a "thighten your spread" tbh. It's quite useful with full bore and help a bit with very far shots.

      Yeah, that's a general Ogryn issue. The only weapon that feels like it has good blessings is the twin stubber, in general it feels like the teacher's pet of the Ogryn's loadout.

    What we really need, is a huge balancing overhaul of all weapons and skilltrees.
    Knowing fatshark this might only take 2 years.

      @josephlee5523 Like, some weapons are so useless right now that it is baffling.
      Pretty much no one uses the ARs anymore because they are fully outclassed by the recon lasguns.
      The shotguns just suck, with maybe some niche builds.
      Chain weapons are most irrelevant.
      As a vet, plasma rifle still outclasses everything by a mile.
      And much more.

      Heavy evis is pretty nice tho, mostly because the light special attack can hit so many, until you hit armor or the end of your cleave 😂

      Idk man unless you're playing havoc 40 you can make just about everything work. I don't see how you can make everything equal without everything feeling the same.

      make a niche/role for weapons, and make it do that niche well sounds pretty good imo. Ogryns are missing some in that regard tbh, while other class has a lot more choices in their arsenal.

    Played the Ogryn a lot and tried a whole bunch of different loadouts, but nothing truly beats the kickback as a sidearm to a melee build. One shotting muties, blasting elites through hordes, it just feels amazing to use and has a pretty deep ammo pool as well.

    been thinking, instead of sacrificing people to the golden throne we should be sacrificing people to fatshark so that they may one day buff ogryn

    No hate, just a couple of things: the min pellet count for the Kickback is very, very high (I don't remember the exact number because this info is buried in a patch note from years ago and not easily accessible). Also you accidentally said Ragers count as unarmored.

    *note. - shotgun is a misnomer and it's not. It's technically a puntgun. a big pintle mounted, armored vehicle mounted, shotgun. think of it as a small cannon loaded with grapeshot.
    it doesn't need a ton of buffs per se outside of as you noted, armor pen. it definitely needs some better blessing. kicker is, I can see people whining about it being OP if it gets those buffs and blessings

    the minimum damage rule on the shotgun pellets is a mechanic I wish more games did. Or like the first X pellets do Y more damage than the pellets past X. Lots of ways to normalize and make shotguns feel good. I'd like if they'd give some raw power to the pump shotguns, those are completely underwelming, at least they had the game feel sense to make the double barrel absurd aswell.

    Ogryn in general is just straight bad regardless of the build or weapons used. Having no weapons with straight heavy combos for horde or for single target and having to use light attacks that benefit nothing from any of Ogryns talents is just dumb. A lot of his kit is all on heavy attacks. Give him weapons where he only has to heavy. From what I've heard in a balance standpoint the people they have testing Ogryn hardly play him to begin with making their balance testing worthless

    Using the combo of surgical and blaze away gives the kickback so much versatility. If there's a horde, blaze away allows you to hold an entire direction by yourself while your team handles the other direction. And surgical makes it easy to handle any sniper or gunner that comes running in from the outskirts or stagger the crusher that's about to smash the zealot (that's off by themselves because they don't realize this is a team game) with the height of the ogryn giving you a much clearer line of sight to all these threats.

    Solid video overall, albeit a lot more negative about Ogryn than it needs to be. Getting tiresome to see half the community act like Ogryn is unplayable because it can't run dueling sword.
    Quick pointer regarding Terrifying Barrage: some commons *can* be 'sort-of' suppressed, but as with so many things in Darktide, it's inconsistent and weird. You can somewhat see it in the Psykhanium specifically when firing a Terrifying Barrage-blessed Kickback into one of the outer Groaners while next to the Groaner-group - you'll see all of them do the suppress animation for a split second before returning to normal. If you do it without the blessing, you'll only see Groaners closest to the kill react. In-game, they'll do something similar, which interrupts their attacks (which is nice if you are battling commons but need to quickly 1-shot a Flamer). I'm pretty sure it used to work on all commons too, back in the day, not just Groaners, though that is no longer the case.
    You can also use the blessing as a way to reduce damage intake by shooting 1 gunner when charging into a group of them, guaranteeing that the others will not shoot you. In theory, yes, you should be melee'ing them, but in 90% of cases you aren't going to be able to effectively CC and melee ALL gunners in a group when you get to them. Definitely not by yourself.
    Probably still wouldn't really recommend it, but much like the 'No Stopping Me!' perk, at least I can say it does a non-zero amount of things.

      Nobody is negative on ogryn because it doesnt have dueling sword. Its because the poor class is the worst performing and has the least variety in builds. The poor guy has like, two good ranged weapons and two melees, to go with his 2.5 builds.

      ​@@MisterEtide 3 weeks ago, everyone kept telling me Ogryn was just a bad class. That quickly transitioned into everyone instead telling me Ogryn only has 1 build. Then it was 2 builds. Now it's 2.5. You're not showing any of the builds Reginald is playing or suggesting, so I feel like there's at least one build missing there. Yesterday someone posted a vid on Reddit of them solo clutching a Havoc 40 with a build I have never even seen before that uses Taunt CDR of all things. I've been clearing 40s with what you could call a variant of Reginald's build that nobody talks about either.
      Meanwhile, I can't remember the last time I've seen a Veteran play anything but Shout. Zealot has some flexibility, but let's face it: you're picking Duellist in every build and you're only ever NOT bringing Book and Invocation of Death in Havoc if there's a 2nd Zealot in the group already bringing them. And even then you're probably still playing IoD and, by extension, Blazing Piety. You're probably playing Beacon of Purity, too. Both those classes are bringing Dueling Sword or Dagger, and your Veteran is probably on Plasma Rifle. Psyker is arguably in a better spot, but they're also never going to be running Assail (something something Aura), and Bubble is nearly as common as Shout these days.
      I can very much see where the complaints come from - our strengths should be better pronounced and not require you to play with Shield as much - but I think the fact of the matter is that non-Ogryn classes aren't nearly as diverse as current public opinion is making them out to be, and Ogryn isn't nearly as one-note or weak. There's only so many times we can repeat the "well this guy is just a really good player, he could beat the content with any build, that doesn't make it good"-argument before it just becomes strange to keep saying things like "Ogryn only have 2.5 builds". Class could do with changes, but I think the reality is also that a lot of the "performs badly" comes from people looking at damage done on the scoreboard, assuming that's a ranking system, and moving on with their lives.
      That's just me, though.

      lucky bullet makes it so you dont spend a round on chance, so you shoot one shot for free then shoot the second shot

      Burst limiter override triggering Lucky Bullet. Almost a year ago there was a glitch where it would trigger even when ammunition reserve was empty, so binding primary fire to mouse wheel or adjusting the click speed per second turned the rumbler into a pseudo M-32 grenade launcher (wasn't always consistent, sometimes get a good string of lobbing 4-6 nades, other times 2-3), and the kick back into a walking grape shot cannon. Was pretty broken but absolutely fun while it lasted.

    Isn't the Ripper Gun just a Kickback but with rapid fire capability? I don't see why you'd choose a Kickback over a Ripper unless you really want to emphasize the ammo economy.

      Ammo Economy is better, ttk is better. Generally better at horde management and meets a lot more breakpoints on enemies requiring only one shot. Along with higher stagger on larger enemies.

    How is one of the only two useable guns on him needing a buff? Don't get me wrong almost all guns ogryn has and ogryn himself needs a buff but i think all the other guns need a buff more urgently. The single shot grenade launcher is horrible and needs a buff also needs to explode on impact ffs not 10 years after the enemies are gone or dead, same goes for the grenade gauntlet that is absolutely horrible too,the ripper being mostly stuck to burst is also rlly bad,the dmg it does is mediocre and and mostly wastes ammo rather than do the job of a gun, the heavy stubber is underwhelming,does too little dmg for how big it is also not many perks and such help it either but that's an ogryn kit problem.
    Frankly the only useable gun ogryn has is the twin stubber and that's only if you dedicate 80% of your skill points to it,second most useful and useable is the kickback and i think it's fine. I hope they change the other guns, heavy and ripper need more dmg,ripper needs no burst,both explosive launchers need to explode on impact for the love of the God Emperor.

      I think it's more to point the player base to the better weapon but even then the "best" weapon for Ogryn still needs buffing/fixing

      @bonehead8972 that much we can all agree on, all the other weapons apart from Twin and Kickback need a buff no matter what but yeah even these two could use one even if a little more mild.
      Overall i wish ogryn and everything related to him would get buffed and/or reworked, it's such a cool class with so much potential yet so limited. Also pisses me off when a flimsy looking zealot with enough belief can one shot mountains but the actual lore canonical brute that COULD one shot said mountains can barely scratch them cuz of "balancing".

    Short rant incoming.
    have the armour piercing system make a little bit of sense...
    Which weapons were used when heavy armour became common place on the battlefield in medieval times?
    Mauls Maces Warhammers Halberds. Polearms and other weapons with heavy blunt or spiky heads.
    Which melee weapons became popular after armour was no longer a thing because of gunpowder weapons?
    Rapiers and and similar swords.
    So why the hell would a sword or even worse a rapier have better armour piercing than weapons(mostly blunt or spiked heavy weapons) that were specifically designed for armour piercing?
    A rapier or fencing sabre could never pierce a crushers armour and it kind of kills my immersion in this pretty immersive grim dark game.
    Bolt and bullet guns should also do well vs armour, laser rifles less so. Although that is is kinda already the case so my gripe is mainly about the melee weapons

      If we're going to actually be realistic then the rapier makes perfect sense as an armor-piercing weapon because it's focusing all of your energy onto a small point rather than spreading it across a larger surface area. Blunt weapons don't penetrate armor, moreso causing blunt force trauma to the soft tissue that's behind the armor. Spiked heavy weapons operate the same way a rapier does - by concentrating force onto a small point so you're focusing energy onto a very small surface area. It's the same principle of physics that allows the RPG-7 to penetrate through 24in. of steel.

      Most of those weapons were around long before heavy armor was.
      And most of the time, a Halberd wasn't much good for dealing with any kind of armor if you just swung it at someone. You'd want to drag them down and use the big long spike on it and jab it into gaps or weak points.
      Or if you can get close, use a dagger because it's much easier to control.
      Or best of all, a two-handed sword since it can do what a dagger does, and also works as a lever, and has the reach to control the other guy's weapon and close in.

      The darktide dueling swords even have that in their name. Duels, fencing, sport.
      The didn't wear armour past some thick fabric when fencing for sport or to settle legal matter or whatever they did.
      The WORST type of weapon against heavy armour.
      A slash would do nothing, but even a thrust wouldn't.
      Yeah you correct that "anti-armour" weapons were
      meant to maim and cause blunt damage.
      Not to actually have them penetrate the armour a lot-
      but blunt trauma actually did something. Especially on the head, one good hit and your neck was broken or at the very least you were unable to fight. Ribs broken, arm broken, knocked down and winded etc
      It might all be focussed in one area but it's simply not enough to penetrate plate armour.
      There are plenty of videos online. or people showcasing that
      The only weapons that reliably did penetrate were gunpowder weapons once those were in wide spread use.
      getting hit by a heavy halberd head with some heft and kinetic energy behind it did WAY more damage and took you out of the fight, even though it didn't penetrate the armour(probably just dent it).
      A rapier ,unless hitting in-between armour gaps(like armpits) would do ZERO damage to the other the person behind the armour plate.

      @@Goriaas The name of the in-game weapon is irrelevant. For some reason, you're convinced that plate armor is some sort of impenetrable fortress that ignores physics. You're trying to apply real-world uses and examples of plate armor in a fantasy video game that has space wizards and laser guns. If you want real-world historical accuracy, go play Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

      . It's just that that style of sword closest to things like 18-19th century infantry sabres, which were in use as sidearms to gunpowder weapon, and only effective because people stopped using heavy armour.
      but my main point was.
      It wouldn't be much to ask to make the swordy type weapons be good against unarmoured and the blunt style weapons good against armour.
      the knives and duelling sword are OP anyways so it'd be good for gameplay variety too, not having obviously superior S tier weapons in this game

    *Never put the Surgical blessing on your Kickback.*
    You're hip-firing 99.99% of the time that you're using the weapon. Surgical is an inactive buff while Blaze Away and Full Bore will constantly buff you while you're constantly firing during your Point Blank Barrage. Surgical buffs one shot and then you have to re-stack the buff, which you simply cannot do at higher difficulties. You are actually trolling if you use Surgical.
