What a fantastic job done in this interview. The professor obviously knows history and better she expresses it clearly and precisely. I wonder if she does book tours around the United States to sell her other books I would like to attend one if possible

The City of Toronto (York) was more or less started by Loyalists. They were very conservative and reactionary towards anything remotely “republican” in nature. They were known here as the “family compact”. They yielded considerable political power that led to a very brief rebellion in 1837. Their power was broken in the wake of Lord Dunham’s Report of 1841. The legacy of the Family Compact remains in a number of Toronto institutions such as Upper Canada College.

Thank you! Several of my ancestors were loyalists who went to New Brunswick and this brings their stories alive for me. It also illustrates quite nicely the source of the differing vaues of American and Canadian cultures by the constitutional phrases ""Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness", vs our "Peace, order and good government".

It went pretty much how you would expect.
Interviewer: Who’s on your shortlist of Loyalists to know?
Woke professor: Um a 12 year old girl, a slave and an Indian.

Sierra Leone was largely founded by the loyalists described in this video. Must be disappointing to live there.
