- We owe a big thank you to the staff at Carmela Dupla Maternity Hospital here in Florianopolis. Sammy went into labor on September 18 and we got to the hospital around 5 AM. 5 and a half hours later we welcomed our beautiful daughter Joanna Jean into the world. This is Sammy's recount of the whole process.

CONGRATULATIONS! Many Blessings to you family, I will travel to Florianopolis next year, hope to see you guys.💗
Thank you!
First of all, hearing a cyst removal gives me hope.
I recently was told that I have ovarian follicular cyst but my doctors said it would go on its own but if it doesn’t, then it would be problematic. I was worried at first but I decided to trust God that everything will be fine and I am also taking my medication.
My major worry was that I may not be able to get pregnant. But look at you! You just gave birth to a healthy and beautiful baby. This gives me so much hope.
I am very happy for you and your family. Congratulations! 🎉😊
My wife had the same fears and less only 7 months after her surgery she was pregnant with Joanna. God is good!
@@fahlingfamily He is indeed. Congratulations once again
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
Thank you sir!
What do you do for a living there ?
@@fahlingfamily what do you do for a living there ?
@@jrf7634 Right now I am teaching English online
@@fahlingfamily that’s cool bro. I’m thinking about going to Brazil. How did get into teaching English? Was it hard to start ?
Congrats! Your baby is beautiful!
Thank you!
Congratulations!
Someone sent us your video to react to. We don’t usually react to videos with babies involved. Is it okay if we react to it?
Yeah that's ok with us. You guys seem like a great couple
Thank you😊
Congrats! What part of Brazil are you living in now? I'm American and my wife's brazilian. We're moving to Brazil as well in the next near.
Thank you! We live in Florianopolis in the south of Brazil. Where are you guys planning to move
I heard some bad stories about Carmela dutra, that’s why I was thinking of hospital universitario, also bc I want my husband to be with me while going through it all. Any help will be amazing! We will be in rio Tavares on September 16th if you would like to meet!! :)
congrats guys, ive being seeing your videos for while, just moved from miami to outside of rio, just 4 months ago, beautifull baby, god bless all of you
Thank you! We lived in Saquarema (100 km) north of Rio before moving to Floripa.. Good luck to you!
Amazing!!
Congratulations 🥳🙏🏻
Thank you!
Congratulations to you guys on your new baby. Love from a fan in Lagos, Nigeria
Thank you!
Happy to know we have people watching in Nigeria!
🇧🇷 Simplesmente Espetacular! Minha filha e minha neta nasceram em hospital público e o tratamento foi sensacional... É gratuito e é SUS...Sejam sempre bem vindos ao Brasil...
Que otimo! Muito obrigado
Congrats you guys! Beautiful lil one. My husband and I have been talking about going to Flori when/if I get pregnant to deliver. Though it'd be a homebirth. Enjoy your sweet lil one!
Thank you! We were considering doing a homebirth but living in a small aparment would have made it a little difficult. And with the experience we had at the hospital we couldnt have been happier
@@fahlingfamily Understandable. I believe there are groups of doulas that educate and help with these things in Brazil, though not as many as there are in the US. Glad to hear you guys had a good experience!
Congratulations on the new baby! May your family be healthy and happy.
Can you do some videos on Brazilian laws that one may have to look out for when one relocates to Brazil? Things that maybe different than U.S. law? Thanks!
Thank you! Yes, I will try and do one soon
Our daughter was born by cesarean in a public hospital in Manaus which was not a pleasant experience for my partner and we were pleased to depart as soon as possible.we had private medical cover but they had no beds available at the time of the birth which left us frantically driving around Manaus to locate a hospital.Pleased everything went well for you.
Man that must have been terrible. The main reason we moved to Floripa was for healthcare and we were pleasantly surprised with just how good it was.. And that was with the public health system as well
Parabéns.
Thank you!
Felicidades ❤
Congrats man. Kinda figured thats why you hadnt posted any videos recently. you are a lucky man.
Thank you! Yeah I was slacking there for a little while ha
Congratulations 🎊🎉
Thank you!
Congratulations!
hi tucker *CONGRATULATIONS* could u tell me names of baby stores in Floripa ? thanks
Congratulations. Great video. If you had the funds which private hospitals would you have chosen? We’re considering Brazil and Floripa in particular.
If we would have been able to, we were going to use Ilha Hospital e Maternidade. Sammy was going to check ups with a Dr. Fernando Pupin, who assists with the deliveries there and she really liked him. We felt good about using Carmela Dutra because that was where he did his residency and he recommended it to us.
@@fahlingfamily thank you. Very nice to hear from you. Hope you all continue with good health and adventure
Parabéns pra vocês!!!

Congratulations/ Parabens 🎉🎊🎉🧸🤱🏻👶🏼 Eu quero estudar português por favor
Which hospital did you give birth at? Did the doctor communicate in English?
Can you pay for a private room? I would like my husband to be with me while having contractions
Will your kid learn English or mostly Portuguese?
We will teach her both. I will speak to her in English
@@fahlingfamily That worked out really well for my American buddy who has 3 Brazilian kids: all three are bi-lingual and super smart 🙌 meu amigo, o pai, has lived there for a very long time and speaks Portuguese very very well, but he’s managed to almost always speak English to the kids and of course the community and the kids’ mom and her family speak Portuguese to them… it’s worked out fine ☺️ … my Portuguese is faaaaar from perfect, but the kids all understood me quite well while I was visiting and it was nice to practice my second language with li’l meninhos because they were totally non-judgmental ❤️
@@miahconnell23 I love hearing these stories. We are excited to raise a bi-lingual child! Btw, my Portuguese is also faaar from perfect haha
Can you live in a different city and give birth in another city through SUS?
That is a good question. I am not sure but I will try and find out
Yes, the health system is public and universal, You can be treated at any hospital in the country. The only exception is the following up posts (PSF) It's a small neighborhood clinic
@@fernandacarvalho693 Okay, thank you very much
Yes! You can.
Yeah. You can. Many kids are born in São Paulo city, but they parents ain’t from São Paulo city.
In Brazil, all Brazilians and foreigners have the right to access public health, however we have some management problems, but in general, free care, according to article 196 of the Brazilian Constitution - "Health is the right of all and the duty of the State, guaranteed by social and economic policies that aim to reduce the risk of diseases and other health problems and universal and equitable access to actions and services for their promotion, protection and recovery".
Congratulations!
Thank you!
