Me too. My mum likes gadgets too, so she'll get more out of this watch than just the important fall detection and SOS features. How reliable is the fall detection? 🤔
@@DavidWard14 all the health apps and stuff have been helpful for Mum too. It's hard to test the reliability of the fall detection, I know pushing the home button in succession works well, but testing how well it works if someone has a decent fall is hard.
Thanks for this demo. I have the G-watch 4. The menu has "Safety and Emergency" for the SOS and hard fall detection, rather than what yours shows. It also does not have the sensitivity setting for falls - either on the watch or phone menus. It did not detect a fall I just had. Advice?
On my watch 4 the setting was NOT in the Advanced Features section. I had to scroll down several screens to Safety and Emergency section, then select "Hard fall detection", turn it on, and select the contacts you want to be notified. I selected my son and daughter-in-law who live about 3 miles from me. I tested by dropping my watch on the floor, but nothing happened. I double-checked the settings and it was on. I also set the SOS option on (you press the home key three times). Now I need to determine where the darn home button is.
THANK YOU! I was able to find it thanks to your comment, but it never asked me to test. I tried pushing the button several times but NOTHING happened. TURN OUT you have to push the button very fast
@@0111vramj I agree, the press it fast was a hard find for me as well. I just discovered another undocumented (or extremely hard to find) aspect of sending an SOS. When you send an SOS on your watch you should see a very small red rectangle with a white siren in the center of the very small red rectangle. After your contacts (up to four) respond you MUST delete the SOS otherwise after you initiate the SOS and some time has passed (I'm still looking for the how long and can you change it) it will send another SOS stating "I have moved" with the location information and it will continue to send an update until the SOS is canceled. IMHO this is a neat feature. This helps ensures that one of the four contacts responds. I suggest that you inform your emergency contacts about this, otherwise it will continue to confuse them. For me when I send an SOS the only notification I see is the little red icon, my watch does not vibrate nor does it prompt me to confirm I want to send an SOS. It would be nice if it did vibrate but I don't agree with being prompted. One could augury that if you invoked the SOS you should confirm it but I don't think this should be the case. I've also discovered I cannot have Bixby send an SOS, IMHO Bixby should be able to send an SOS. I still cannot get the fall detection to work.
Good video confirmed that I had my watch set correctly for hard falls. However, I have had 3 hard falls and none of them have been detected. They were hard enough so that in one of them. I broke my wrist. How do I find out if the watch faulty or not? And what do I do to guarantee that it will work the next time? I need to know that it's going to work in case I fall in a place where there is no one around which fortunately was not the case the first few times.
Fter this random alerteas sent It's sending location updates every time I change location and in the middle of the night. Does it have a virus or been hacked?
Do you know if the text message sends to emergency contacts if the connected phone is out of bluetooth range but still within wifi range of the home network? My mom doesn't bring her phone with her around the house so it may be out of range, especially if she's outside in the back yard.
@@GottoGetitDone i sure did, i was just too late deactivating the alarm cause my hands were full... so yeah... i sent an alarm to my 4 emergency contacts :D but now we know it works and i know i can count on my friends :D
Good question and one I don't have the answer to. Seems like if you made a contact it would work but I am not going to test that. Don't want an accidental call to 911.
If and when it is working, it will call 911 if you set it up for 911 and add their numbere to the Sos. That happened once for me at a time when I didn't fall, when all my contacts and 911 were called anyway.
Nothing is waterproof, water resistance would be the right word for it. As it will be "proof" for a limited time, but yes it is resistance to water damage. You can shower, wash you hand and swim with it.
These reviews tell you features not whether they work or not. Fall detection is a fraud and SOS is so hard to use especially when you have just fallen. Don't buy these watches for these features

Thanks for this. If you do not have cellular, will it still call your emergency contact (and provide your location) if your phone is not in range?
Unfortunately no it has to be within range of your phone.
Does this call 911 if your contacts don’t respond like on Apple Watch?

Mine is off but sending random sos location settings to my emergency contacts
Unlike the apple watch though, it does not automatically call 911 if it detects a hard fall. Only notifies your contact.

SOS and fall detection is useless and doesn't work when you need it to.
Would it work if you had epilepsy?
What works then?
The fall detection is useless, I had a motorcycle crash (in which I flew a couple of meters) and the fall detection never activated.
