this track gets better and better with each listen, and the rest of the album will be absolutely head over heels unbelievable. BUCKLE UP!!!
OOTD had to grow on me. I wasn't sure about it on first listen, but then I started to get into it on my second one. Then I finally sat down and watched the MV for my third listen, and I'm fully on board. I think my favorite thing about OOTD as an overall production is just how is sounds, looks, and feels so confident.
This is the biggest sound change since Scream for Dreamcatcher
This concept is very different for Dreamcatcher, which just shows how versatile they are.
The "cameraman" at the end is actually a character called Shasha. I thought she was a worker at DCC but it seems she's actually an android.
You're right about the Muse vibe to it. Excellent band Muse and it had a Filter/Crystal Method trip like i do vibe as well.
At first glance you could think this is about them being proud and happy with themselves, about confidence. I don't think that is it though. I have no idea if my theory is correct, but the fact that the album is called VersuS VillainS makes me think it is not this simple. So I believe this song is meant as a criticism of narcissism, materialism and also (maybe) the fast fashion industry. "OOTD" stands for "Outfit of the Day" after all, clearly fast fashion.
The fact that fashion is moving ever faster is actually the most destructive industry to the planet apart from the fossil fuel industry. The Aral lake has all but disappeared because of the cotton industry for example. It would fit to the Villain image, and you can see in the MV that they are acting. It is shown in the scene where Yoohyeon and Handong are fighting, but then the camera is off and Handong helps Yoohyeon up.
The main reason why I don't think it is about confidence or their own success is the line "Driving on the highway, drunken everyday, do you feel like a monster?" and the album title. That just doesn't fit.
It could also be a big and well-hidden F*U to the Kpop industry, like the Nightmare arc probably was. The narcissism and materialism is definitely criticized here, and Dreamcatcher have been criticized a lot themselves because of their rock/metal concept, while other groups have been celebrated for using a guitar riff once in a song.
The music is highly interesting as well. There still is rock there, but dialed back. The song structure is not what you'd expect at all, for me it is punk rock meets K-Pop. Not their usual spiel, but a very good progression. It takes a couple of listens to really enjoy it.
When I first listened to it, I didn't understand anything about the song at all and was in complete shock. Then I listened to the song separately and fell in love. Power of Dreamcatcher 😂 👑

This is a satire of narcissism. I'ts a brilliant mv. Hopefully people will eventually understand the message and not hate on them because it is not what they want out of the girls. Great job DC!

Yeah, first watch, I really wasn't feeling it. I didn't _hate_ it, but it didn't feel... _right?_ I think I was partially thrown off by the lyrics, until I realised they're actually _half_ making one of those bog-standard self-aggrandising songs in order to pastiche it (which is highlighted by a lot of the effects in the MV that I didn't really notice before), and now I like it a lot more than I did from that perspective. So yeah, I think we're on a decent track...

I somehow enjoyed this more than whole apocalypse era, and also i think this song got the potential to break dreamcatcher into the mainstream pop market
TBH its not Bon Voyage level appeal to me but it's different and growing on me.

hey Ross, been a while since i watch your videos. life happens as usual. this comeback, i am watching all about OOTD. good to see you here.
yeah, words.. it is different from usual. they did say it though, but still it is not the way I expected it. tbh, my first listen didn't impress me much. but I am loving it now. the thing with Dreamcatcher sound, it is smooth flowing. transition from part to part is flawless. n yes, the style may change, but it is still Dreamcatcher.
the album will be bomb for you. the b-sides are awesome.
"Unique." 🤣 That's a nice way of saying the song is bizarre. Very experimental. That's not always a bad thing, and I'm sure some will enjoy it, but for me personally, this was absolutely their weakest title track to date. In fact, I haven't been very keen on any of their recent ones. The last title track I playlisted was BEcause, if that tells ya anything.
