- Joan Crawford has a field day controlling everything and everybody in Vincent Sherman’s HARRIET CRAIG (’50). Based on the Pulitzer Prize play by George Kelly, Princess Graces’ Uncle, it also stars Wendall Corey, Viola Roche, Ellen Corby and K.T. Stevens as the poor husband, relatives and staff who have to put up with Joan’s out of control, control freak. According to estranged daughter Christina, this was one of the roles most like her “Mommie Dearest” herself. YIKES! Ever the pro, as with all Joan’s roles, you won’t be able to take your eyes off her and her shenanigans for a minute! Viva La Crawford!

I think Joan was fantastic and it wasn't easy to be a star in Hollywood. Joan was a pro and that took a lot of talent, internal strenght and brains, Joan had it all. You can have it all and still feel like you have nothing. Joan Crawford movies are always worth the watch.
I totally agree. She comes in, puts the plots on like an old coat and makes it all work. And you can't take your eyes off her. Thanks for watching! Steve
Always worth a watch? So are car wrecks.
Our absolute favorite film for me and my partner. We watch this movie quite often. A extremely well written story line. Well worth the viewing minus the cost of the cup
@@kendenta2207 😅😅😅😅😅😅😆😆That's awesome. It's one of my favorite scenes - young, naive, frightened Grandma Walton - I'M DEAD😆 The stream that's on this platform is more user friendly than the DVD which doesn't even have a chapter folder. It might not even have a fast forward or rewind option, but I have yet to try that.
@@JackMason-oq8lf Yup - Mrs. Craig is a real car-wreck, she is.
You are hilarious Steve! Your 'Bette Davis' is priceless.
Thank you, but don't tell her that!
I remember from decades ago, TV Guide referring to the movie as, "the story of a woman who loved her house more than her husband."
Actually, that about sums it up to perfection.
This movie is a great example of Joan Crawford’s acting ability. She played this character as the villain so well that the audience wanted to see her get her comeuppance.
Absolutely. And I still don't think it was enough.
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ Right, she basically had abortions behind her husband's back - either that or she sneaked a dose of birth control pills. I wrote a novel in which the rich guy's wife did just that - four abortions and even had an affair with her abortionist. He, too, knocked her up, and basically aborted his own child. You see, Steven, this is what you come up with after 35 years of Davis and Crawford movies.
Is that my Ming vase? It was…💔 😂
Filled with that wedding rice?
Turns out it was Minute Rice.
Uncle Ben's Harriet's man servant cousin. From hong kong! Actually Claire's father! Cla Cla. Steve Love when you say cla cla!
A role she was born to play, and she doesn't disappoint. Thanks for another insightful and entertaining review Steve.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I'm probably the 100,000th person to say this........but I'm convinced that Steve could play ANYTHING in drama or comedy. He could be a fantastic frightening bad guy, a lovable good guy, a lovable bad guy, the romantic lead, the deeply tragic hero, the hilarious funny guy ......and on and on and on......anything. Sorry......just had to add my admiration and cheers to all the others. Hugs from Ginny in San Diego, CA❣❣❣❣❣
OMG! Thanks a million! You'd be a terrific agent! You sold me!
Steve,
I have to say several months ago I was watching. When I said why doesn't Steve do Harriet. When I saw this I was so excited. You nailed her.🎉
Hooray!!! Mission accomplished! I'm so glad you're pleased!
Your Bette Davis was HYSTERICAL!
I don't think she'd be too pleased , but thanks.
She wasn't with Martin Short!
I love the anecdote in "Wisecracker" when Billy Haines was taking a diction class to prepare for the transition to talkies. The teacher corrected him on a mispronunciation, saying, "Mr.. Haines, you're just lip-lazy!" He shot back, "I've had no complaints," and everyone in the room collapsed laughing.
I hope WAC releases Harriet Craig on Blu-Ray soon, it's a terrific movie.
That's hilarious! I forgot about that quote. Haines was quite a guy and a survivor.
Whatever was he referring to? 😂😂😂😮
It'd be well-served from the Criterion Collection, too. Maybe a bonus feature about the making of the movie, all estates of the actors would have to be interviewed, I doubt any of them are still around now. (EDIT) If there is such a product in the making, and Christina is interviewed, I can imagine it going like this:
FIRST QUESTION::
"This role seemed to be tailor-made for your mother, Now, was she - - -"
CHRISTINA: "Worse in real life? YES!" 😅😅😅😅
"Thank you, Miss Crawford, for your time"
END OF SEGMENT 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
It's a cold gloomy day and now know what to watch. How could anyone be rude to sweet Grandma Walton? Anything with Joan Crawford is worth watching. The gowns! The sets! Another great reivew.
Thanks. She's really mean in this one. But she somehow manages to show you why and makes you understand where it comes from. Such a good actress.
She did offer Lottie the fake roses.
One of my absolute favorite of Joan’s films and a fantastic, entertaining and wonderful review from Steve! This man more than deserves his own show on TV. He’s delightful, funny, witty and wise. TCM are you watching?🌟🎬✨

I don't know why I haven't seen this one! The way I hollered at "it's early mming dynasty" 5:57 🤣🤣
It's for free on "RUclips".
It's such a hoot when she did a movie that was something of a soap opera, like Flamingo Road or Queen Bee, and this is exactly that kind of story. The character of Harriet is someone whom we eventually begin to despise, and whom we'd really love to throw a handful of chocolate pudding on her blouse, LOL. Thanks for a really good and insightful analysis of this movie. Your anecdotes and your impressions of movie stars are always a joy, Steve.
Thanks so much! You're too kind .I would have thrown that Ming vase at her. LOL! Steve

I have to say when she cries. The doorbell rings thinking it's him. I feel bad for her. I'm a softy.
Unclebbmunson1084 no way ,sir I was laughing. Why because narcissist like her will never change.
Steve, this is a terrific review!! This is one of those movies I saw on TV growing up that established my understanding of human relationships. And I've been a basket case ever since! Recently, I picked up the "Joan Crawford in the 1950s" box set and reconnected with the movie, and it still packs a punch. It's fun to imagine what Bette may have done with this role, but Crawford had the required glamour to pull it off. Here's a good word for K.T. Stevens, an actress I always liked. She always looked as though she were about to cry, even when she was smiling! And Wendell Corey was a very good, unique leading man. We can forget about ASTRO-ZOMBIES for a moment. Thanks Steve!! Now I want to see CRAIG'S WIFE.
K.T. Stevens was the daughter of director Sam Wood ( " Kings Row", " For Whom The Bell Tolls") and the ex-wife of actor Hugh Marlowe ( " All About Eve") . I liked her too. Corey was very underrated and he actyed and survived working with many of the big leading ladies.
Your review was riveting... 😉 you have single handed turned me on to Joan Crawford..again! she was fantastic! 😎
I think so too!
Great episode Steve!
Thanks for watching! Steve
Great film, great actress. This is one of your best reviews. They just keep getting better!
Thank you so very much!
Steve, you are absolutely hilarious. I’m a huge aficionado of old films. And love your clever expertise on them. You have all these old actresses down to a science and it’s hilarious. Keep up the good work. 9:03
Thanks so much!
Harriet Craig is on RUclips. I’ve watched it twice in the last few years. I didn’t know, or I’d forgotten, Billy Haines was the set designer, so thanks for the background detail. I agree about Wendell Corey, who adds to every film he’s in. Lucille Watson is a brilliant scene stealer. I love many of Crawford’s 50s movies and how she’s prepared to play sympathetic, lonely and highly unsympathetic characters - HC, Queen Bee, Sudden Fear, Autumn Leaves, Johnny Guitar, This Lady is Dangerous etc. You always get 110% commitment, full on star power and she is quite prepared to carry these films by herself whether she has to or not. I think that’s one reason her fans were so loyal to her because she always delivered. No one else ever seems to have such a big face on screen as Joan Crawford, her eyebrows had an entire career of their own, she is an actress who brought the best of silent screen acting into talking pictures, you can see every word not just on her lips but in every muscle and tiny movement of her face. Steve, another hugely entertaining review, I’m sure that Joan would be thrilled Bette showed up uninvited and damned her with faint praise! Honestly, it was like she was in the room!
OMG! Thank you, you're so kind. I like this film too. In fact, I'm a big fan of Crawford's from "Mildred Pierce" on. Thanks so much for watching. Best; Steve
Love your Bette Davis impersonation! 🤣
Thanks, but don't tell her that!
I second that! The Bette Davis impersonation was spot on.
I hope Bette would know that impersonation is the sincerest form of flattery😄
Good afternoon, Steve. We love when you do a Joan Crawford film review!!!! 💖💖💖

Steve! You're back! I love you my friend from afar!!! This film is one of my favorites!!!!
Oh, good! So glad!

I think so too! She's perfect!
10th ahh I watched this once....yep Joan is Over the Top in this.....what a performance.... CLASSIC
Absolutely great!
Steve I TOTALLY LOVE YOUR impressions of BETTE DAVIS! You have here down to a tee. The voice, the halting-of-her-voice, the head tilting and ESPECIALLY the fluttering of the eyelashes. I just LOVE IT when you do a Bette Davis movie.... (Yes I know this one was Joan Crawford) but you still did a bit of Bette.... LOVE your channel... David Alp from England
Yesssss!!
Thanks you David! Much appreciated. Althoughj I imagine she wouldn't be too pleased! So glad to have friends in England. I adored my trios to London and the countryside would love to live there. Thanks for watching! Steve
Just watched the film after seeing this review. I imagine this is what Crystal Allen would be like on her second marriage! Thanks Steve!
Quite possibly. Preosnally...I'd move.
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ You should do "Della" or "Autumn Leaves" next for Joan
One of my favorite actress ❤ the Oueeno of cinema.
There you go! Thanks for watching!
Joan Crawford was always a fascinating enigma to me. Billy Wilder said that there was no third act for beautiful film actresses, but she continued to command the screen for a very long time, perhaps because she'd take on a role like this. Poor Wendell Corey - always conveying decency and intelligence (and wonderful in "Holiday Affair", of which you also gave us a lovely review), and I adored Lucile Watson's pursed lips and shrewd comments. Joan had worked for her looks (didn't she have the back teeth in her lower jaw removed, early in her career, to emphasise her cheekbones?) and also worked to retain her figure. But what's such a surprise, given her reputation for competitiveness, is that later in the 1950s she selected Heather Sears to play in "The Story of Esther Costello" and made the girl's career - Heather won a BAFTA and was nominated for a Golden Globe. So, I find Joan an enigma, and thank you for another wonderful insightful review. Best wishes, Alida
All ture. I think the enemy to Joan's looks were booze and cigatettes. No matter what yyou do or how hard you work, noting ages you faster that that combination.
Love this movie. I see this one and Queen Bee as sister movies in a way, Joan is great and gives it her all on each. Vincent Sherman directed very well on this one. Thanks, Steve! Look forward to a review of Daisy Kenyon one day :)
Yup! It's on my "To Do" list. I like that one alot.
She wrote her own dialogue? Now I have to watch it again just for that scene.
Yup! She knew this character backwards and forwards.
Steve, it's such a joy to see your reviews. I'll give Harriet Craig another go.
Please do. I think you'll be fascinated. Steve
Joan was a real start and nobody can take that from her! I love Harriet Craig. first half of the 50s had so many good JC performances in a lot of movies that i really love. Thank you for another wonderful video!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching! Steve
I clicked play so fast almost chipped a nail lol You and Crawford best way to start the day ❤😊
OMG! No TOQ is worth chipping a nail over...though I'm immensely flattered.
Yay! Joan! I love her, this movie and you!! 🥰
Thanks so much! happy JOAN day!
Great review Steve. I think this role was probably one of the closest to Joan's own personality. That monologue is very in keeping with what we know about her upbringing and life and how she used men to get along. She was also molested as a girl by her stepfather I've read, so it's no wonder she had such views on men and the role of sex in manipulating them.
Quite possibly. She had a rough childhood.
Joan is always so Joan - and you gotta love 💕 her. At least on screen 📺
Absolutely. She could really carry a picture.
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ It's just a shame she either wasn't allowed to or interested in doing more comedies. She was a gut-buster as Crystal Allen. You'd think MGM or some other studio would capitalize on that.
Another beautiful woman who was a great comedienne - ROZ, of course. When you said in one of you clips that Roz had never really done comedy before, I thought "he's joking, right?"
Auntie Mame was a riot and she had me doubled over in The Women. With a smile as beautiful as hers, I can only imagine she started off in comedy first. Just even imagining her dressed like Sylvia Fowler has me chuckling. 😆😆😆😆
You do a SPOT-ON Bette!!! And yes, that's exactly what the issue was. Bette could handle getting older; Joan couldn't.
And it's true today. Look at the amount of plastic surgery these actresses are urdeg to do? Appalling!
Just seeing that Steve Hayes has a new review up always brings a smile to my face and 'zing! went the strings of my heart!! :)
Marry me!...sorrry...carried away...Thank you so much!

My teenager, I've looked at a lot of photos of old Hollywood stars more in now.
Joan's dress looks familiar in this movie. And Lucille Watson was a frequent Hollywood good mother at the time. Waterloo Bridge 1940.
Watson was in so many films at the time and got an Oscar nomination for " Watch On The Rhine" w/ Bette Davis and Paul Lukas in a role she created on Broadway.
In her last film, "My Forbidden Past" (1951) starring Ava Gardner, Robert Mitchum & Melvyn Douglas, Lucille Watson had a "love to hate her" scenery chewer role as Gardner's guardian. Also her role as Barbara Stanwyck's mother (or mother in-law?) in "My Reputation" was a Harriet Craig-esque type..all too concerned about appearances. Always a welcome Supporting player, ala Thelma Ritter.
I wish that she could had been nominated for best actress for Harriet Craig in 1950. I agree with Bette Davis on Joan Crawford.
I think she should have been too. But, it was a big year and too few slots to be filled.
Oh Steve! You've never been better with this appreciation of HARRIET CRAIG! It's the epitome of Joan's Columbia years, and may be my personal favorite of hers in a career full of really great roles. Seeing her co-star Wendell Corey here had me thinking about DESERT HEAT, my favorite film of his and one the best noirs with unapologetically gay undertones. I could be wrong, but I don't think you've done a video review on it yet. I'm ripe for that, and thanks for keeping me entertained all these years!
Thank you so much! I believe you're thinking of "Desert Fury" w/ Lizabeth Scott, a VERY young & sexy Burt Lancaster and Mary Astor who steals the show is as the mother. Very gay overttomes with Wendall's infatuation/devotion to Joh Hodiak, who is so awful to him. Thanks for the reminder, I'll put it on my "To Do" list immediately! Steve
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ Yes! DESERT FURY! I guess there was more heat than fury in it for me. Liz Scott just didn't understand how mean a man (or a mother) scorned can be. Until next time....keep up the good work!
I'd like a review of DESERT FURY. It's a gem . O MG HOLLYWOOD was cranking out the best movies in late 40s and early mid 50s.
Steve, another brilliant review from you. The dialog is great and it still rings true today. Joan was every bit of a star and a Narcissist, not that is mutually exclusive, so she had great insight into how to portray Harriet. I agree with you about Bette Davis's observations about Joan Crawford. Joan like Barbara Stanwick, looks changed dramatically from the 1930's (AKA Dancing Lady (1933) where she had a doe-eyed appeal) to her more mature roles in the late 40's-mid 1950's.
I'm always reminded of that moment in "Feud" in which Bette asks Joan what it was like to have been so beautiful, and Joan in turn asks Bette what it was like to have been so talented. It's a dialogue that may or may not have been based on something real, or it could have been totally scripted. We'll never know, but it's haunting all the same!
I think Barbara aged the best of them all. The white hair was so becoming. Wen I saw her Lincoln Cnetr Film Society tribute in the early '80's, she was absolutely stunning!
@@MATTHEWSCHUBRING That's definitely noteworthy, thanks for your reply!
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ Agree, I saw her in that tribute and she looked stunning. I was part of that generation while growing up saw lots of classic films on TV & watched reruns of TV shows of the 1960's. So, my intro to Barbara was as the strong matriarch in The Big Valley, so I only knew her as an older woman. Years later when I saw her in The Lady Eve, I was impressed with her beauty and talent.
One of my VERY favorite! Thanks for the usual fun review!
You are so welcome. Thanks for watching!

What a treat! The review is one of your best, and three splendid impersonations: Mesdames Crawford, Davis, AND Watson. Lucille Watson steals just about every film she's in. (Billy Haines created an entirely unique aesthetic in "Hollywood Regency." He had a remarkable eye.)
He also had a wandering eye from what I gather. LOL! I love Lucile. Watson, she was a tough old bird. I read that she lived in the smallest complete brownstone in Manhattan, Three stories tall & 12 feet in width. I hunted it down and actually found it. Looking at it, I remembered what my mother said the first time she enterd my apartment; " There's not enough room to change your mind!" Thanks for watching! Steve
Congratulations for finding Ms. Watson's brownstone! I'd have paid money to be with you when you did. I have a half-baked plan to write a prosopography of the older supporting actresses during the studio era, and Ms. Watson would certainly be a subject. (An academic at the University of Norway has something similar, but it emphasizes filmography not individual biography.) I recently heard that the Harriet Craig director Dorothy Arzner wanted Billy Haines to art direct the film, but Colombia's resident tyrant (Harry Cohn) objected. The night before filming started Ms. Arzner secreted Mr. Haines on set, he re-designed it, and Mr. Cohn never noticed. It may be apocryphal, but it's a good story! @@STEVEHAYESTOQ
A wonderful analysis, Mr. Hayes, my thanks for your great performance. Crawford would be proud of you!

3:44 - Notice how Claire's head is always down when Joan speaks. She's not allowed to make eye contact with her. I love how the scene starts. CLAIRE's about to kiss Wes when HARRIET has other plans - CLAAAAAA-IIRRRRRE! I just die every time she splits her name into two syllables. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sometimes even three. K.T. is just the right mousy type. Joan had a little trouble later on when she was up against Mercedes McCambridge and Gloria Grahame.
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ it's funny, though, that while Johnny Guitar was so God-awful, it was great to see Crawford vs Mercedes McCambridge. She's another one I like a lot - BEYOND the Demon's voice in the Exorcist 😆 I just haven't seen enough of her movies yet.
EDIT: Somewhere in this approximately infinite universe known as You Tube, there are interview segments of Mercedes McCambridge discussing her vocal technique for "The Exorcist". It ended with her making fun of fans who were frightened out of their minds, "oh my God it was so terrible" She just laughed and said "no it wasn't - finish your popcorn" 😅😅😅😅😅 We need more like Mercedes. I see young Hollywood these days and just roll my eyes. They're so frightened of being cancelled they can't really be themselves. They can't be cool, essentially. They're all so worried about being accused of racism and sexual harassment, yet not one of them pops up and yells, "YEAH? PROVE IT!"
Ooo, Johnny (and Steve)!
I’d heard of that one, but never seen it. I’ll be sure to call it up on that Russian site that has everything free of charge…

OMG, Steve! You've done impersonations of all the stars, but you're the first person I've ever seen who did a spot-on impersonation of Lucille Watson, one of my favorite character actresses. You may remember Ms. Watson as Gene Tierney's mother in ''The Razor's Edge'': ''I should tell right now, Mr. Maugham, that Elliott does NOT approve of Larry Darrell...''
"Elliott must you tell Mr Maugham ALL our private affairs?" I adore her. She lived in the East 60's near in the smallest complete brownstone in the city. It is 4 stories tall and twelve feet wide. I searched it out and there it sits, thin as a rail and quite beauitiful. Thanks for watching! Steve
Oooh, this is one of my favorites of hers! Time to watch it again.

The final scene of Harriet Craig is a favorite of mine. As the music swells, Harriet slowly, regally ascends the stairs with the train of her nightgown flowing behind. She's rid of that messy, disloyal husband and the house is finally hers and hers alone. No actress could pull off such a scene like Crawford, and you are so right---the moment she appeared on the screen you were absolutely riveted by her!
Both she and Bette Davis knew the dranatic value of the stair and used staircases in many of their films to great effect. In fact, there's a very funny short film somewhere of Bette Davis running up and down stairs in coiuntless movies.
Good observation and hollywood staircases are so ridiculously stylish. I never in my life saw such a beautiful curving staircase in any home I ever visited. And I would certainly pick up my feet so as to not cause wear to the carpet strips !!! 🙃
Another excellent presentation of what looks like a fascinating film.
It is! You'll enjoy it! Steve
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ JC’s film Queen Bee seems to be very similar! She plays the same kind of control freak, worse perhaps.
Just viewed this Joan Crawford film which is free on youtube. Of course she emotes as she has done in past roles. Wendell Cory is so affable and turns in a surprisingly strong performance. I can't find anything but good words for HARRIET CRAIG. 7.5/10
I know. The casting is perfect and the role fits her like a glove.
steve, youre show started off great but keeps getting better, best show of it type anywhere
OMG! How nice of you to say so. many thaks! Steve
Steve!!!! OMG, it's so WONDERFUL to share these FABULOUS moments with you, especially THIS one. This was a fascinating, fascinating movie. Thank you for reviewing it!!!
My please! I love it too. She is so despicable. I love iot when she finally get's what's coming to her.
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ yes, the ending was really powerful!
Another great review!
Thanks!
I’m so glad you covered this one. Hopefully it will get others watching it. I think Joan is still at the height of her powers here.
(Roz Russell didn’t do so bad with the 1936 version either.)
Both actresses did very well with their own distinctive interpretations.
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ Roz could DO no wrong
Great Movie !! Queen Bee is one of my favorites also...Crawford plays a similar role...
Both, in their own way are perfect for Halloween. Two domestic Monsters.
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ 😆
One of Joan's best movies, and one of my personal favorites!!!!
I think so.
I love when you do Bette and Joan reviews. My gay heart loves these old classics with my two favorite diva's. Another fantastic review. Happy Autumn.
Happy Autumn for you as well. I'm so glad your watching and are pleased. Thanks a million!
"Cold as a polar bear's foot!" You got me LMAO again, Steve. I just set my DVR for TCM September 27th at 8:42 a.m. I'm stocking up on popcorn and potato chips for Harriet Craig and Johnny Guitar!🤣🤣
A double fearture more than deserving of such a wealth of treats! Joan would be proud! I'm tempted to join you...but that hour...have fun!! Thanks for watching! Steve
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ Thanks, Steve! Just a reminder, when the movie is DVR''d, it remains there for as long as you want to keep it on file to be watched anytime you want. I also can't be watching movies at that time in the morning! 🤣
Hooray and Yippee! A new video and a bonus Bette impersonation! This was great, thank you! I actually have not seen this, so I will hunt it down and watch.
You won't be sorry. Steve
I love the light you shine on these sometime forgotten, certainly neglected, gems! Love and greetings from Gt. Britain ❤
Lbve and greetings right back! I LOVE the UK and especailyy miss walking the streets of London. Thanks so much for watching! Steve
Wonderful review (as always), Steve! I know Joan's hairdo was severe for the role she was playing, but I've always wanted to take a brush to it!
LOL! Well, i think that someone needed to take "a brush to her," as my mother used to say!
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ LOL!
I JUUUUST found out about and watched The Story of Ester Costello and Autumn Leaves last week. I had never even heard of them. THIS WOMAN WAS CONSTANTLY WORKING HUH? OMGGGGGG !!!! ❤❤❤💯👍 LOVE you Steve. Thank you !
She never stopped if she could. Because Joan, Bette and Barbara Stanwyck all came up from poverty, they were always happiest when they were working.
I saw this film so long ago I had almost forgotten about it. Now that you reminded me how it's so intense a character study. so tailored for Crawford and so fun, I will be seeing it again soon. You often come up with great picks like this - not the most famous titles but really good ones that people might not know.
Mission accomplished! I always like the audince to dig a little and then be delighted that they hunted the movie down. I love this one. Thanks for watching, John. As Always. Hope you have a lovely Autumn. Steve
Wonderful and amusing review Steve. One of my favorite Joan Crawford films and the role she was born to play! Keep up your great work.
She really was. You knew she liked sex, a good time and she wasn't shy about showing it. Unique talent for the time.
Whoa...whadda movie! Thank you for the recommendation! (I'm catching up on your videos.)
I hope you subscribe, so I can bring you a new one every month!! Steve
My partner and I absolutely love this movie. We watch it at least once a month. Something new comes to our attention at every viewing. Queen Bee as well minus the cost of the cup.😮
Once a month! I can't believe it! I watch "Flamingo Road" at least once a week! LOL!
Thanks for acknowledging the wonderful Lucile Watson, Steve! Watch on the Rhine is another role that she rocked.
She was good in everything. We were lucky to have her. She survived working with the "Big Three", Joan ( "Harriet Craig"), Bette " ( Watch On The Rhine") & Barbara ( " My Reputaion"), not to mention Vivien leigh ( "Watreloo Bridge" ) & Norma Shearer ( " The Women"). Tough Bird!
Steve, I just watched this movie last night for the first time on Tubi and I HAD to come back and re-watch your reaction! Such a great film! Happy Memorial Day!
I think so too and it's perfect Crawford casting!
Mom and I really enjoyed this one. She watched HC just the other day on RUclips, so that made it even better. I wonder if Mary Tyler Moore got inspiration from Harriet for 'Ordinary People'?
Could be. That ios another amazingly cold & brilliant performance. The WASP women.
