My theory is that these are all different events that occurred to him in various timelines of his life: he was a child to his parents, a friend in a group out partying, a boyfriend in a turbulent relationship, and then a husband with a beautiful family. Throughout, he felt like he never fit perfectly into any of these roles. In his journey of self-discovery, he encounters another human, Kim Minha, who is as lost as he is in the maze of societal roles and expectations. However, after they have a conversation on the couch, he realizes that it's not just him; this is the reality for most people, and life is never going to feel perfect. Cut to him being transported to these scenarios again, but now he is happy because knowing he is not alone in the journey makes him appreciate life and its imperfections more. In the end, it feels almost like an enlightenment where he is freed from the shackles of pursuing a perfect life and now understands the true meaning of living. You see him walking through the forbidden door with Kim Minha, both now happy and content.

      @xashie_zz9633 5 месяцев назад +97

Not forbidden door but the door that opens when he makes peace with himself ig. As you can see he tries to open it when he is in a rush, running into rooms but it doesn't open and at the end, after making peace, he opens that door with Kim Minha who seems like going through same things as him (maybe she is his alter ego??)

I just saw a great explanation by an army and i think that really match the meaning RM wants to convey through this mv.
She said, " he was a friend to a group who like to partying, boyfriend who went through quarrels with his girlfriend, dad to a family, baby to his parents. He went through these scenarios but he was so worry and tired because these all scenarios are society standards. Then he met that women who also went through same experience and at the coach they had a talk and then he understand you don't have to worry about living according to society standards. He says live the way society says but find your own way to live and your own dreams. So you will be happy. At the first RM try to open the door out of fear so he couldn't open the door. That's the door to your future or continuation of your life. Once he understands the life and throw away being worry and become happy he could open the door. That women is alreafy found the door to happinesd and she is leading him to find his hapiness. Maybe that is resembling army because he always says i found my path to live thanks to you army.
Simple he says to all armys" don't try to run away from the reality. Just live there but make your own path and one day you will find the door to your hapiness the same way you lead me to find my hapiness.

So glad they didn't CGI the wound/ bandage out because it's now a bit of BTS lore.
Some of the biggest names in SK film are in this + the team that filmed and produced this video are top quality in the SK film industry.
OMG so smoooooth, groovy and slow dancin' into a different reality of finding your path - is it real, or a set? Where do I belong?
IT IS AMAZING. Looking forward to set design, costume explanations that make the music even deeper.
    It's an amazing video.
Unhappy and feeling out of place, finding yourself reflected in the eyes of others and thus finding happiness, but the world is just a set and the story you make it.

My interpretation is that this is RM's multiverse. I remember him referring in Festa that there are different RMs - he could have been an office worker but he is lucky to be the RM of BTS. In the video, he could have been a party goer Namjoon, a family man Namjoon, a baby Namjoon or a kid Namjoon hiding behind the plant, partner Namjoon. The last one shows that his right place and the right time is with that lady in the end.... maybe represents Army because he is comfortable to enter a new world with her? 👀 At least that is what I hope it meant. 💜

I thought each room was a perception that people have of Namjoon. Such as the jokes that floats around saying he is married with kids. When he was a baby it made me think of how fans tend to act as if the members of BTS are not grown men. When he was finally able to walk out the door it was because he just accepted how people may look at him even though he knows his true self. And maybe the woman he left with was ARMY.

My theory is Shakespeare. It IS Kim Namjoon! Here goes-
All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts."-

So many interesting theories about this MV! But I really like the Midnight Library theory!
Midnight Library theory (Credit to owner)…
Minha is a librarian in the MV. The house is a library where Namjoon goes door to door from book to book. Each room shown represents an individual book. Each book takes him to a different environment with different situations. All these books take him to certain points in his life such as: childhood with parents, love life, married life, drinking with friends, failed relationships.
At the end we see Minha leading him inside what is essentially a bookshelf and Namjoon sees the failures of his own life in the books inside.
Those who have read the book The Midnight Library will understand this whole thing. This is a book that Namjoon has read, liked and recommended. The final scene resembles a bookshelf in the Midnight Library where each book depicts protagonist Nora Seed's regrets.
Nora is a 34-year-old woman with depression who wanted to commit suicide. She passes between life and death. And that place is called midnight library.
Where we see Joon running from door to door in a corridor - He is given one more chance to go through certain situations, go through penance, realizations, and breakthroughs. The point of it all being, "If I hadn't done that, maybe this wouldn't have happened to me." After reading the books, entering those rooms, Namjoon realizes that nothing more could have been done in those situations than what he has already done. He finally realizes that he is the best version of himself and has nothing to regret. That's what we see at the end. Namjoon is getting out of those situations with librarian Minha. Then he comes back to his present situation, hanging out with those friends and completely clear minded. This means he has no regrets and is content with how things have turned out.
By "Come back to me" he is calling his old real self back to himself and he finds himself back in current situation.

Thank you, José! Without going into a long narrative, my take away is that what makes Namjoon happy are not the things others would think. "Come back to me" refers to him coming back to himself, and figuring out what makes him happy. The way he was refusing invitations of a drink, at the party, at first, has me thinking that he said "No" to a lot of things, in the past, but now, he's saying "Yes!", and working on being okay doing that for himself.
This Beautiful Man! I'm so in love with Namjoon 🤭 Can I have one like him closer to my age?!! I can't wait for the rest of the album, and I am hoping it continues this storyline. What I feel is like my theory is that this kinda depicts different stages of life like on every single stage you'll have pain in your life and you're often gonna feel like you don't belong where you are but once you accept this fact and know this truth life gets easier life gets happier that's what I feel that lady is his personified pain, cause like before he just kept running and get away from stuff but once he sat down with his pain life got easier and each moment became happier (when that lady appeared he also sang you're my pain divine divine ) and then he finally decides to like accept his pain and he was ready to open that door which turns out to be a set which is like everything is already like kinda of set up yk we just have to accept things and keep going in life. ( sorry to make this long 😅 but this is what I feel)

Regarding point no 2, brushing teeth with someone is a sign of a very close relationship. You don't let anyone into your house in the morning just so they can brush their teeth, right? They stayed with you overnight, it might be family, very close friends, partner etc. So it signifies intimate relationship, might it be platonic or romantic. Hope it helps!

it's his feeling that he is in fact the wrong person. he's felt sad/depressed since a child and feels like he disappointed his parents. he wants a family but he's not happy with that he wants friends and partying and he's not happy with that. then it switches to what it would be like if he was happy he makes his parents happy he makes his wife and daughter happy he makes his woman happy... then he opens the door and the set up is like a maze. he's trapped and the possibilities are endless and it's up to him whether he is happy or not.

This mv made me feel like RM was in therapy - I'll explain. So he starts the video living through a normal life, experiences everyday things but in very different rooms (compartmentalising). He lives a normal day, then meets the lady towards the end and has a laugh with her (I'd say she's the therapist, talking it out with him). Then, they go through the last door and you zoom out to see the whole set and all of its different compartments, except this time, he's able to take someone through it and acknowledge it through different eyes, and smile as he goes. I relate so hard to having to decompartmentalise and eventually find the humour in amongst it all. What a masterful video from our Joonie, so proud to be RM biased 🥹💜

Your theory is very similar to mine. But here is what I think:
This is a multiverse. The doors represent different potential realities, and these specific scenes are just some of the realities that Namjoon could have had. In the beginning, we see that he appears to be unhappy in some of the scenarios. I think these are actually thoughts or what-ifs that he may have had: If I were just a regular guy, if I were a Father/Husband, if I were someone's boyfriend, if I had a different childhood, etc. This could represent him exploring alternative paths and realizing they wouldn't have brought him fulfillment. I think while some scenes might represent unhappiness, others could depict missed connections or unfulfilled dreams. I feel like the beginning is about him grappling with the idea of whether he's truly in the "right place." The door represents the present reality or the chosen reality. The woman, I believe, is representative of acceptance. She's looking for him because she wants him to understand that radical acceptance of your choices is what frees you of "should've, would've, could've."
You see him laughing and smiling when he sits down with "acceptance" and converses with her. Now, he sees that these thoughts are not necessarily wrong or bad - they just are. And that the present reality is all a cumulation of the choices he's made up until now. So now, when they go back and replay the same scenes from the beginning of the MV, it's not that he's "happy now" but instead that that is a reality or timeline where that specific choice was the right one for him. He is happy in those realities.
So now back to present Namjoon - "acceptance" looks at him and says with her eyes, "Are you ready to embrace your present reality?" with a deep breath, he does and opens the door to a choice that he's made, one that he's okay with and one that he walks through without regrets.
I think this song ties in very closely with the track "No. 2" on Indigo, where he talks deeply about having regrets and not being happy with certain choices that he's made up to now. That song was about whatever one has experienced and whatever choices they've made; they must've done what was the best at the time and that they are the best version of themselves.
Although we are aware that the name of the album is "Right Place, Wrong Person," I feel that showing it at the end of the video introduces us to the theme of this album. Exploring ideals of situations, circumstances, or experiences that, in theory, are "right" on paper, but he (Namjoon) is the wrong person for them. Perhaps the video explores the idea that a person might not find fulfillment or lead to happiness if they don't align with their inner selves, even in seemingly "right" situations like career success or societal expectations, etc. The woman (acceptance) might be the key to understanding that it's not about external circumstances but internal peace. It's possible that despite appearances, Namjoon has struggled with accepting his choices. I think this music video introduces us to these concepts of the everyday struggle of dwelling on past decisions. The video portrays him exploring these regrets and ultimately letting them go. Based on the album art (photos) of him in different scenarios with a bunch of people, I think the album will further explore these themes.

I agree with your explanation Jose. I got similar thoughts watching this, that it is about acceptance of the very different facets of your life. We might not always understand them, or be ready for them. But they are ours none-the-less. I have thought that over the past few years he has been on a personal journey - figuring himself out. This man has an amazing mind. We are so fortunate to share in some of it. Have a great day, Jose💜💜

Here's my two cents about the MV. The sets are somewhat what Namjoon was thinking about during hiatus. Since y'know, you go on to introspection when you're on a break. And this girl he met who he walked out with, is the representation of armys, armys always there coming back to bts, and yeah i think the door symbols the year 2025. When namjoon met the gurl, he first saw himself before the gurl right? What i interpreted from that is how armys will remind him as RM, since he's Namjoon currently inside those sets. And the part when Namjoon talking to that gurl, hence, armys, about how his thoughts he had during the hiatus, how he was a child, how he was a dad, a lover, and armys are there to listen to him about it and having fun thinking about the opposite of what namjoon thought like, "yeah, i think u would make a great dad/lover/person, namjoon, you've always been."
At the end, armys are there coming back for RM&Namjoon, to open the door. And you know about how bts and armys are symbolized as a door due to their logos. So, yep, armys coming back for RM & Namjoon outside the hiatus.
And oh, the line, "You are my pain, divine, divine". We all know how being an idol/artist, has taken a toll on their respective lives, how they have missed such events that people are going through in their daily life, like having a family, forming a relationship with a romantic lover, going out with friends freely, and being a child who's always there for their parents, they weren't able to do so much due to their career. Yet. YET. Despite the pain... Of coming back to the scene of spotlight, despite how army's demands can be such a pain, the constant need to perform, Namjoon&RM thought, we're all worth it, hence, divine.

Namjoon is the embodiment of warmth and comfort. His music really does have an healing energy. It really hit home for me cause all my life, I always felt the pressure of being the perfect student, a role model to everyone, and making my family proud. Even some of my friend always put an expectation on me to already be in a relationship or getting married. Even through I’ve already achieved something in life, but I never find the right crowd to fit in. I felt so alone and isolated from the world, but after listening to this song. It really make me realize that I don’t have to please everyone or living in their expectations, but finding my true self and finding things that what make me happy. Life maybe challenging, but that doesn’t means it makes it harder to find happiness or peace in life. Just enjoy the things in life.

The first thing I thought was; the girl that calls him over is ARMY. He is happy with her. He seems to be more himself. And when he opens the door her face lights up different colors as if she was lit by an ARMY bomb. And they walk side by side into the bright white light that reminds me of stage lights. And you see the many rooms. This part my brain instantly interpreted as the many rooms of Joonie's mind or the many different paths he could have taken. Or both. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there. Loved your video José.💜

I definitely think this is about self-acceptance. It's a basic blueprint. He starts off not satisfied with his situation. He's dealing with the expectations of those around him (party) and expectations of society (wife & kid). Next is negativity (self doubt/rejection/etc.). He tries to fight it, but fighting only escalates it so he tries to get away from it and move on. However, self-doubt and negativity often pops up out of no where. He gets away from it only to be confronted with the expectations of family. He hides from those expectations because he's afraid of disappointing them. Then he catches a glimpse of the core self and sets out to find it. Once he finds it he realizes this is something everyone has to go through. He also realizes that to accept oneself, you must understand how all of these things are effecting you, why they are effecting you and to what extent are you willing to let them effect you in the future - I think the following scenes show him doing that. I think towards the end he's finally found contentment with this phase in his life and is ready to move on to the next one. I believe this is why he couldn't open the door the first time. He couldn't let this phase go yet because he hadn't dealt with the issues from it. The ending scene with the zoomed out maze just shows this is a continual process you go through during the many phases of your life.

I think this is what it means to be somebody’s everything: when things r bad with that special person, you can see the bad in your life and how it got to this moment. You see the bad in your childhood, your past relationships, it warps your friendships and your future relationships. Once you get past that door, that peace you seek to find with that special person (and it might even be peace within yourself), life is good again and you see good.

The lyrics are so brilliant. Real Genius. Just using divine and pain in the same sentence is Genius. It is extracted from a philosophical theory that Humans lives ocscillate between pain and boredom. According to some philosophers, Happiness means experiencing and surviving pain; after that pain comes relief and "happiness". A definition of "Happiness" is : better state than the one before. "Happiness" is not being in a state of boredom. Most often, people who consider themselves unhappy are just bored and do not experience surviving pain. They do not experience pain > survival > relief > better situation > Happiness. Some philosophers also consider that being happy with someone is being less bored than alone.

My thought is that he sings he was fine but was not (he says that to his friends).Come back to me is talking to him self (come back to myself) to become again as he was (like he lost it in the way ).He feels he doesn’t have to be anything or something in the whole sea(sea here has the meaning of public opinion )to be happy!Spring(freedom ,light and happiness )is there he sees it but doesn’t feel it because he sees it the way the others want him to(sleeping in her eyes). He wouldn’t fit anywhere in this stereotype boxes so he was the wrong person for other’s right places. He feels old enough to brake the stereotypes(adult in the crib) and although he knows that he keeps hiding from him self-heart(behind the leaf). He decides to follow his heart (girl) to pull him out of those boxes and the light comes in the moment (the decision is made)they meet. He is relieved and he can enjoy the party and see how it would be if he was the right person .So they both go through that hallway with those many doors but they both sick to go out THE door that will drive them out of the boxes and into the spring-light. So he is the wrong person but in the right (for others) place. And the girl is his heart that he decides to follow and find his light again. Aka don’t loose your self in order to fulfill others happiness . Happiness starts with self love 💜

07:00 I think maybe she plays his soulmate.
I'm completely in love with his serious work.
From what I understood or interpreted, this song "come back to me" is not about anyone but just about himself, the mv shows all the difficult moments in which he felt trapped and just wanted to escape, kind of like an infinite looping of unpleasant situations that you just can't cope with or you don't want to be there, that's why he's so tired, he had moments like that in his childhood, with girlfriends, with friends and with his own family when he formed one. And then he reset it, because it was just a momentary moment, there are moments when you feel lost but in the end you are happy to find a point of peace in every moment of your life. He wanted his happiness and comfort back, to do the things he loved without feeling a huge weight on his shoulders.

I think the MV might be about self acceptance. He doesn't feel comfortable in all his stages of his life if he's not peaceful and accepting with himself. The feeling to not fit in, comes maybe from his inner self.

If you've read the book 'The Midnight Library' by Matt Haig, [which Namjoon was seen reading in In The Soop Season 2], Namjoon's character mirrors the protagonist. He explores different phases of life filled with regrets as the librarian guides him between doors.
The final scene resembles the bookshelf in the Midnight Library, where each book depicts the regrets of the protagonist Nora Seed.
The protagonist finally realizes that her current life is the best version and lives it without regrets. This is mirrored in the end scene where Joon leaves with Minha (the librarian) and returns to his current life without any regrets.
The DOOR Joon yearns for is LIFE!
“Between life and death, there is a library. And within that library, the shelves go on forever. Every book provides a chance to try another life you could have lived. To see how things would be if you had made other choices... Would you have done anything differently if you had the chance to undo your regrets?” - The Midnight Library, Matt Haig"

I like your theory, Jose. I thought of all the different rooms as different versions of reality, but they also could be different stages of his life. I also thought about the title Come Back To Me and here are my thoughts: the first part of the video Joon looks lost, disconnected, detached from reality, he is not fully present. He sings: "I forgot the hour". And you know how when a person is too much in his head, consumed by his thoughts, people that are around him might say: "Are you with me? It seems that you are far from here." So I interpret Come Back To Me as "come back to reality, to this moment, be present". And we all know about Joon's dream - to live in the present. Speaking of the girl he goes through the door with, maybe she symbolises "the Present" or "his connection to the Present" or "a part of himself who is being present and not detached".

In the book Black Matter by Blake Crouch, there's something exactly like the concept of the MV. There is a box full of doors that leads to different realities of the same person. Some of them are good, others are not. But I think he was inspired by the movie Everything everywhere all at once, 'cause he mentioned his thoughts about it in an interview.
