All of this while Panama is sufferings the effects of El Niño. A very dry Panama Canal on top of this whole mess. What a time to be working in maritime logistics.
The Panama canal is becoming more and more irrelevant to global trade as time goes on. It is getting to the point that ships are getting so large they can't actually use the canal and this problem will only continue to grow as ships continue to get larger.
Maybe fast speed trains are the solution?
All shipping companies stocks have gone up from this tussle in the red sea. Proving once again. War is good for business...
Yep the Panama canal is beginning to fail. Partially why the US gave it back to Panama ages ago. It saw what was coming. China is working with South America on train corridors.
I don't think high speed shipping trains will become a thing. I don't think it's economical enough vs just scheduling deliveries of goods. It's the same reason a container ship goes less than half the speed of an American air craft carrier. Economics.

33:43 Biden did however also state his and America's unending support of Israel and their attack on Gaza. In my opinion, that doesn't sound like attempting to end any conflicts. At that point, Palestinian civilian casualties had already become more than double Israeli civilian casualties. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the Biden administration truly wants to end the conflict or they would have put a lot more pressure on Israel.
Feel free to give opinions and reasoning if you want to. I'm curious what others think.
Despite a majority of US citizens wanting a ceasefire, you're correct that the US government has no intention of pursuing one. Hundreds of elected representatives, and I don't think even five will use the phrase "ceasefire" even after all this time and horror. If Joe as an Irish Catholic is still making false claims about the reality of the situation, even after the Pope called Israel's actions "terrorism" and after the representatives of Ireland disowned him for supporting it, I can't imagine anyone having positive expectations of White House decision-making.
@@ADSHYNUS literally was about to get multiple Arab states to make peace with Israel before Hamas initiated its attack. And you cry about the US causing instability? 🤡
Never leave the American presidential election out of your calculations. No matter how frustrated with Israel Biden or his team are and how they handle things, they have to look sufficiently pro-Israel or they open up themselves to right-wing attacks that they are 'weak on terrorism' or anti-Israel. The polls are already super close, they don't want to do anything to make it swing a couple more points in the R's direction.

I love how I got to the part that said, “air strikes” and thought “oh that happened” before I read your comment that said you made this before that happened. Good video 🎉 I love how in-depth these are.
Saudi Arabia has been air striking them since the early 2010s
For the Houthis, the very complicated ownership/management structure of maritime shipping and the fragility of the global economy are features, not bugs. If their goal is to force divestment from Israel, making it incredibly difficult to ship on the Red Sea without making incredibly explicit separation from Israel, will likely push at least some companies to completely cut ties, because they simply can't afford the alternatives.
That is their goal. If you look at statements from Houthi leadership they said from the start the blockade will end when Israel stops their genocide in Gaza and they are still letting ships that are not headed for Israel to pass. I would look to sources of information on this that are not the US, because the US is the country that is still sending Israel weapons. They are framing them as pirates because if they acknowledged that the blockade will end when the genocide ends, American citizens will ask why the Biden admin is using their countries military to make sure a genocide does not stop.
I don’t see that happening before they get an unhealthy dose of freedom and democracy.
Can the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Secret Space Force chew bubblegum and kick ass at the same time? This may be a winnable war!
No one is gonna cut ties with israel, because israel is ready to pay the higher price / handle the inflation, so the companies will continue supplying everything to israel at a higher price and dont lose anything because israel still buys it all like nothing changed. He said already that there is little to no effect on the economy of israel ever since the houthis started attacking everything and everyone. Provoking most countries in the world by crippling their economy to a certain degree is NOT a feature, it is only a death wish.
@@echofoxtrotwhiskey1595 I never said that they would be successful, just that it is a good strategy that has a chance of at least seeing progress toward their goal. Honestly, I wholly expect that they will be introduced to "freedom and democracy", but I expect that, given how politically untenable escalating conflict is right now, those interventions will be as a reaction to companies finally caving to their demands. Our politicians are probably going to wait for as long as they can to commit us to another war and that is the line that I think they will draw in the sand where they think they will finally be able to get more support than opposition.

If you would like a lesser known topic to make a video on, i recommend checking out the way the Sami people are being pushed to extinction by both the construction of wind and hydroelectric power, as well as ore mining. It's an interesting read
What's to say? Nomadic migration and population density are mutually exclusive lifestyles. In the modern world, with our 8-10 billion mouths to feed, and apartments to heat, and cars to drive... even the Sami need snowmobiles and fuel, modern materials and tools now. There are fewer and fewer places where nomadic lifestyles are still feasible... partly because of human encroachment, but also climate change making their culture less applicable to their traditional habitat. You can already see where traditional ice crossings are no longer safe at the traditional times when they'd be used. The time to document their traditional practices has passed.

I am sure it is not a missile attack but rather charges inside. You can clearly see at least nine simultaneous explosions from beneath
My heart goes out to the people of Yemen facing such difficult circumstances. It's disheartening to see the impact on not just their lives but also on the global economy. Let's hope for increased awareness and international support to bring about positive change. Sending love and empathy to everyone affected by this situation
I learnt a lot. Top tier video as always 👍🏼
"Learnt"
The United Nation Constitution requires ALL member states to prevent supplies to rogue states committing genocide. Yemen is therefore doing it's duty under international law.
"Indefinitely, until"
Sounds pretty defined to me, Bibi
Awesome analysis 👌
Ever Given didn't get 'blinded by a sand storm and crash'... they were pushed aside by heavy winds after they lost their engine.
Are there sand deserts in the region? Did those winds have sand in them?
@@sorinankitt The implication that sand in the air had anything to do with it is wrong.
@@matiashogden1240 That's not how i interpreted it. A sand storm is a WIND storm which reduces visibility because of sand. It's pretty apt to say "sand storm".
@@matiashogden1240 sandstorms are made by wind... any and every strong wind gust forces sand up no matter what
@@CRneu 'Blinded and crashed'.
The sand (blinding them) isnt the reason for the crash, which is the implication in that sentence. My point stands.
The song playing at 10:00 is “Retrogress” by Jobii. I would know because I have it in a playlist of mine
Literally "every reallifelore video be like"
It's crazy watching a video about historical events that you were directly involved in/effected by. I was on one of the US destroyers that shot down several drones in the Red Sea. During my first deployment, my ship was delayed going through the Suez by the Evergiven, none of us were complaining, though, because it gave us extra time in Greece.
might i ask you take a step back and an impartial look at what you are actually supporting? you are part of a military regime which exists only to uphold americas power. i understand war causes trauma for all parties involved, but that doesnt wipe away americas war crime ridden history, and the fact america is desperate to hold onto their power in our increasingly multipolar world. i dont ask you to desert your post if you are currently deployed, but once you have the option to get out of the military, please do so asap.

Don't raise the oil prices yemen.... never worked out well for anyone
As Yemeni who is not in favor with any political group in Yemen
I see the good of this ia that now the world will know the importance of stable Yemen with no wars so they will work to make it stable as possible just like what they did with Somalia
Do you know what happened between them and the saudis im just curious
Isn't Somalia still awful? If that was a serious comment I wonder what progress you're referring to, I know little about it. I thought that outside forces had generally a terrible track record of trying to create stability in the Middle East (see Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, ...)
It’s very impressive how brave the people of Yemen are. Willing to take on a larger power to stop a genocide. History will remember Israel like the Nazis they are for their crimes and the US as their partner in crime for helping them carry it out. The US could call for a ceasefire and end all of this tomorrow if they wanted to.
@@brock5373The Houthis are terrorist bastards.

Title as of now is: "How Yemen is Wrecking the Entire Global Economy" just in case it changes again
its not Yemen, it's Houthis. Houthis are wrecking Yemen.
The correct title would probably be more like: How Israel and US policies (with backing of many nations) and violence against Palistinians are destabilizing the region and causing Houthis in Yemen to wreck the global economy by threathening shipping... or something.... bit of a mouthfull huh.
It's not the Houthis, it's the US. The US is wrecking Yemen.@@dhiaoshaish

I mean, I can't blame the Houthis. It's good to have allies, especially when a colonial power is massacring your kin.
Great video can't wait for the next one. This one's already outdated. So insane.
Iran it self is also in a difficult situation. The more involved they get the less the war looks like Israel fighting Palestine and the more it looks like Israel fighting Iran. A perspective that could make it easier for Iran's other rivals to unite or at least exploit their weakness. currently Iran is dealing with threats along all of its borders as well as domestic pressure making this a difficult prospect
Literally no one sees it like that everyone sees it as the US protecting its daughter
@@Omar-df3uk I mean you’re right but that has nothing to do with Iran’s situation
'Iran rival' yeah, right? You mean Saudis? Westerners love overestimating their rivalries without understanding the differences in Shia and Sunni. When it comes to Palestine, both are united. That's why you don't see Saudis/Emirates joining the Western coalitions.
@@Omar-df3ukyea the anti Israel propaganda is strong.
The US to cut all support from Israel and sanction them and it would not stop Israel from conducting war. Cope

Not sure how anyone can watch these one time and get a full grasp of the situation. The geopolitical fragility is absolutely amazing, the amount of information packed in here is insane. The research involved in coming up with the various scenarios must include a ton of interns. I'm sure there's people that may disagree with some of the information provided, but we all have inherited biases, it would be a tall task for anyone to be 100 percent neutral.
This decade is becoming the age of war
On a complete side note, I love the fact that the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force has an overseas base in Djibouti
I'd be more worried about Chinese bases. Japan is a defensive country but China's overzealous nature lately requires many countries to be defensive including India Japan Philippines Vietnam and even eventually probably Russia also Australia the US and much more. If the world wants free trade in the seas of the world then we need to stop China from taking over the West Philippine Sea
@@Drew-sy2bnWe’ve come full circle where Japan is called defensive after in the last 200 years attacking over 40 countries and China is deemed aggressive when their focus has always been inwards solidifying China.
@@IhaveBigFeetThe world changed a lot in 200 years so it shouldn't be a surprise

I honestly always thought the ship was called evergreen though I knew it was also (/actually/only) the company name.
When you think about it, any country controlling that strait has the potential to become a global superpower... As long as it can get its shit together and hold itself upright long enough to get firmly established and officially recognised as a country, and it wouldn't need any natural resources besides its geography and enough kit to defend it.
5:45 I love how Russia relies on exporting their oil to China through the middle east, when they share a landborder with them
Would probably make sense if you consider the geography. Russia might be big, but most people live in a relatively small area.
Shipping is by far the cheapest option for transportation. Pipelines are great but very expensive to build and maintain.
Shipping is just extremely cheap. Also the infrastructure that is needed in the east of Russia and north of China is just enormous. You might forget the size and landscape of those countries.
@@jamstagerable how do they keep the oil moving in such extreme cold? Oil is warmed up and Pipes are insulated?
Well, since you obviously are completly oblivious. Russia actually has a pipeline that runs from Russia to China and are adding another line. So maybe you should actually research before you speak.
