Wow! You gave me a newfound appreciation of all delivery drivers, especially Amazon! I have seen the many vids where people leave snacks, water, etc on their porches and the drivers are so excited. I’m going to start doing this as well. They deserve that and then some.

Think about it those drivers don't have time to stop and pee, or ear lunch, They have to fight through traffic everyday, no matter the condition. Heavy traffic, sometimes an accident that they can't get around, or traffic jams, etc
But the company wants them to get those packages delivered. It's not easy
I have heard of some of the male drivers peeing in a bottle, no time to stop
And they appreciates those snacks and water bc they had no time for lunch

I have work for a competitor for several years. Not as the driver but an Insider and I could tell you horror stories. Those drivers have 600 stops plus pickups from businesses and they are timed. The public throws a hissy fit if it's 1 minute late. I'm proud of you. The demands for deliveries are ridiculous expectations. Don't break your back for any company that will replace you tomorrow.

Hello. I like to look up videos of other drivers’ experiences. I lasted about 8 months and decided to let it go. The grouped stops, dogs chasing me, long driveways, etc. It is slavery. If you take your break, you’ll always fall behind and risk being out all night and getting in trouble. I was quick on my feet and still realized that taking a break would put me behind. It dawned on me that Amazon sets up the routes so that it would be highly unlikely for drivers to take breaks. The company, customers, and management could care less. I no longer look at buying from Amazon the same. You didn’t lose anything by quitting!

I completely understand my son last year worked for one of those same third-party companies and he experienced the same type of trauma and we live in in South Florida so with the 150 to 200 stops going to a high rise building with 30 or more floors in the hi populated city areas and then having to drive out west to where everything is all stretched out and still they expected him to make all of his stops within a certain time frame that was impossible I think he only lasted a few months as well and he's in his twenties so it's not you it's those companies. It was a nice experience for a couple of months for you so now you know your destiny lies elsewhere.

That is also how Amazon operates as well. I worked in one of their fulfillment centers in Michigan. Depending on the job you were doing, there would be a television screen how fast or slow someone is going. some of these jobs you had partners. Your production number and there’s is on a big screen so a lot of the times, depending on who I was working with, they would compete against me. Doing all kinds of little weird things to slow down my progress In my opinion it causes a hostile work environment.

There were some people who worked for Amazon that were contract workers, who delivered to my high-rise
But they were not furnished a hand truck to put all the packages on to deliver to 10 floors and we have elevators.
So, to make it easier for them, the leasing office allowed them to use a large flat hand truck to stack their packages on to roll on and off the elevator to each floor

Everything you said is soooo correct. I drove for them maybe 4 months and I still was not used to it. Packages were big and heavy; you may have a dolly or not there was no on to help for those heavy packages. stairs, apartments etc. I quit and I still have some aches and pains that will not go away.

When I had seen you were starting there I said oh no because I went through the ringer with Amazon so I know 😢😅 I went from Nursery routes to medium routes and then they threw me into the heavy routes like if it’s peak season which were like 400 + packages and 500+ stops. The heavy routes took a toll of my lower back 😢 and I had problems recovering with sleep and felt tired still the next day .

Good for you!!!! Sounds exactly like the healthcare industry! I’m a nurse and that’s exactly how we work! Many work 12 PLUS hour shifts (many times is more like 13 plus) Too many patients for one nurse to safely handle, too unsafe for our licenses, no lunch or regular breaks, we aren’t allowed to drink anything unless we leave to a break room which is difficult to leave our patients to do so, so we are chronically dehydrated. We don’t have time to go pee anyway! We kill ourselves! Most of us have bad backs and bodies…and hurt everywhere! Can’t take anything stronger than Tylenol while working tho! UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS And ABUSE!!!! Most of us are honestly traumatized and have some level of ptsd from our jobs! We give our all and it’s never good enough! We get sent to areas of the hospital that we aren’t familiar with and with types of patients we honestly have never worked with!! Unsafe and stressful! Everyday!!! We also do others jobs so that the patient does not go without! This sounds exactly why so many nurses have left nursing! We are stressed out physically and mentally!!! We just can’t do it anymore ! I totally understand and have been through 3 nursing jobs in one year! I refuse to work like this any longer ! I will keep quitting until I find the right job where I am not abused and where I can give safe, quality care! I don’t have a problem with that! I’m a 29 year veteran nurse so I know how it was in the good old days BEFORE hospitals were just money making machines and were about providing quality care. Now they’re money grubbing slave factories! Good for you for leaving and taking care of yourself! No dollies is a load of bullshit!!! They want you to get hurt apparently!

My neice was a warehouse order picker in a different location. Same outcome she quit. Overworked them as well. Smdh! I tell people these jobs are modern day slavery. That's why I quit my job 6-7 day 12 hour shifts or more. No I told the I QUIT! I'm nobody's slave and you can't force me to stay and cover no shows. That's not my job. That's the Supervisor job to do it! I was like ✌️ I'm out of here!

It sounds like driving just wasn’t for you. I was an Amazon flex driver and I worked in the warehouse one winter. When I did flex, I had to use my own car and I purchased my own wagon and used my own dolly. Not saying it’s easy at all but it’s kind of a mindset thing. It got easier and easier and I drove around listening to podcasts. I stopped doing it because I no longer needed the side hustle money and due to the wear and tear on my car. I agree with you about delivering to rural areas in the dark. In Texas, ppl pow pow first and ask questions later so it’s scary walking up onto someone’s property at night.

Amazon expectations are insane whether you work for a 3rd party company as a driver, or as a direct Amazon employee in those massive warehouses. You should be proud of yourself for lasting almost 2 month's. Hell! I lasted 1 weekend🤣🤣. My body said hell 2 the NO🤣. And we ain't the only ones. Amazon has 1 of the highest turnover rates.

I quit too after 7 weeks here in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 i was able to do 120-130 stops with one of the worst routes on my own was never rescued and I'm a bigger girl. But this was me absolutely busting my ass everyday to the point where I tore a ligament falling down stairs in flats (apartments). I found out that the drivers that were doing 170-200 stops and finishing early were throwing everything on the doorstep and running (thats normal in america I think but absolutely not here, not many areas were safe enough to be doing that) and they were taking every shortcut possible and RUNNING all day. No thank you!! I didn't go to the bathroom at all or eat or take a break all day. Job shouldn't be legal!

I agree I’m a Amazon flex driver… I don’t do wilderness hill without light to see…. One time I call the driver support and told them I’m not driver down that steep hill in the bushes… she wasn’t mad she told me to place the package against the mail box… If I’m very uncomfortable I won’t do it… start taking my grands with me to help to relieve back pain and arthritis and they love it.. with Amazon flex we don’t received no more than 25 package.. one time for a 5 hour block I only had to delivery 6 packages was I happy… finish early and still got paid

Yep Amazon DSP delivery is no joke! I peed in cups just to make target numbers on shifts. It was crazy. And I agree, totally unrealistic. They care about their numbers not workers. But go on indeed and check out "travel merchandiser" positions. It's physical but then you don't need a gym. Basically you restock stores, gas stations, grocery stores... Depends who the company has contracts with as far as where and what they stock. Some positions are literally just to stock the chip isles. Some stock whole foods some stock food for less, some do promo set ups that actually change layouts of stores and that's its own field too you have to get a set of tools n stuff. But the perks are good and it goes well with van life. They all pay for your hotel and most of them give a daily stipend for food and they also pay for gas mileage.... ,Try it out! Personally I really like it!
