    Most T470 computers don't have 1920x1080 built in resolution though obviously handled external monitors of that resultion (and better)

      @AleSuggests  3 года назад +2

      It depends. The one I've got is full HD. And the beauty of most Lenovos is that you can always replace parts easily ;)
      Definitely not the best screens though, but decent enough for music production on the go.

      @brianwalton2602 3 года назад

      @@AleSuggests Correct they made variations on the model but I know that the majority that were made don't have 1080, in fact 1366x768 was the standard on that model. I've managed a "fleet" of them.

      @@brianwalton2602 I'd have guess so, actually. Often great Lenovo laptops lack in display specs. It's a shame! Once again, I'm pretty pleased with mine... nothing special, but it's alright. I did pay attention to this when buying it, though.
      Thanks for your feedback and for passing by ;)

      @@AleSuggests This is true and you point out many specs most people overlook as it relates to music production. The T470 is a nice upgradable machine and can be docked for better display output. Only reason I mentioned it, is some plugins/daws endup looking less than optimized on the lower rez screen (those of us with the non-1920x1080 version anyway). As the newer models hit the market, we see fewer and fewer USB-A ports built in and you end up needing a dongle for actual music production use where the T470 is a great mix of USB-A and USB-C.

    I'm not a musician but I liked the way you reviewed this. I still have my T420 and planning to upgrade to the T470 for future-proofing. Seriously the more you pointed out its strengths, the more I got convinced.

      T480 even better :)))

    • @AleSuggests
      @AleSuggests  3 года назад +3

      @@PsycosisIncarnated yeah the t470 and t480 are really similar machines, I'd still usually recommend the t470 over the t480 because it will still support windows 7 if grabbing the intel 6th gen version. Some people may still need this old OS for compatibility with old plugins/DAW. Also the t470 is easier to be serviced, can support dual drive, and has an extra USB 3.1 port which can be handy for midi controllers.
      If none of that is important, then the T480 should be the way to go, with it's much more powerful 8th gen CPU, and a less noisier fan! Thanks for passing by and commenting here btw ;)

      @@AleSuggests no worries bro, thanks for the info on the t470, :) the t480 is also very easy to service, some people call it the last true thinkpad within the reddit thinkpad forum and other places. It also has a dual bridge battery system like my trusty x270 that im typing this from. Very useful when needing to change batteries on the go :)
      Hopefully one day we can see a sturdy thinkpad with an ARM processor so it lasts for 20+ hours.
      i subbed as well btw! keep the content coming.

      To remove the internal, you need to open the bottom shell.
      To remove the external, there are two pins. Engage both the pins and then slide the battery out.

    T470 is awesome. Had one before and it had all the ports in the world. And I had the extra large external battery and easily get double numbers hours of use. Only thing that was kinda meh was the display but it’s a work laptop, not a museum piece. One of the last great laptops Lenovo made of the Thinkpad line. Pretty much switched to non external batteries, less ports, etc now

    Hi tomorrow I’m buying this laptop from Amazon, I have two options excellent condition for £219 or good condition for £165.. Would you be able to comment on what could possibly be the difference between Ex and G because the specs are the same with each grade…

    • @AleSuggests
      @AleSuggests  2 года назад +1

      If it's the same specs and you can return it, I would try to save up some money and get the "good condition".
      If the seller is "Amazon Warehouse" often times their habit is to describe the item to be much poorer than what the item actually is... so in the end the item is in much better condition than expected.
      If, instead, the seller is a private and you cannot return it, I would try to get in touch?
      My take is that the "good condition" laptop will have more scuffs on the shell, less battery life and maybe a more warn-out mouse pad... but this is an absolute guess, so please take this with a pinch of salt. Also, mind that main plug... you want a genuine Lenovo charger to avoid noises when working with audio.
      I hope this helps, good luck for your purchase and thanks for passing by ;)

    How is the performance of the T470 with DAWs and VSTs? Worried that the CPU might not be powerful enough for a bunch of VSTs and tracks working at the same time. Great video!

    • @AleSuggests
      @AleSuggests  3 года назад +7

      CPU will max out at around
      50 vst synth tracks with 4 plugins for each track. And that's with 48Khz 24bit, latency buffer at 2048, wifi off and laptop set to "best performance".
      Sorry for the late reply but I wanted to find the time to double check and give you an exact figure. I hope this helps.

    Oh, just found your other channel... Italiano!! Well we do have a similar tone 😄 (I'm from Argentina)
    About this computer, for pretty amateur music production, 8gb of ram or 16gb? Is there much difference?

    • @AleSuggests
      @AleSuggests  2 года назад +1

      Sorry for the veeeery late reply :(
      I would say go for 16gb if you can. Amateur music producers usually end up using more VST and plugins than they may actually need, and it can be tricky to optimize a computer for music production at the beginning. So 16gb should offer some extra room. Actually, if you can, go for 32gb... but you can always upgrade later.
      Italiano, indeed. Adios mi amigo, and thanks for stopping around :)

      Hola Mike. Did you buy it eventually?
      Depending on where you live, 300 bucks may be good or a bit pricey. Also, it heavily depends on the specs of the laptop, too.
      Are those 300 pounds or dollars?
