Just an idea for you for the hard ground or sandy camp sites, that you may find interesting. Consider taking a few of those cheap canvas grocery shopping bags with you and filling them with rocks or sand and tie down to them. Packing up is just a matter of ditching the sand or rocks and stowing your canvas bags and job done.
I completely recognize that area you are camping at, Summit Rock just south of Mt. Thielsen, or about 5 miles north of Crater Lake. Funny thing is, I have never been there when there was NO snow. Always have been there during Superbowl weekend to avoid everyone. We have ridden right up to where you guys are camping on our 4x4 ATV's, only it somewhere between 5-15 feet of snow pack. All those rocks surrounding your camp (except for a few of the highest ones) are completely buried in snow. Best sunsets ever in the snow. Just gets a bit scary riding our ATV's back to Diamond Lake at night in weather down in the teens.
ARB awning comment. Have been using a 2.5 x 2.5 in Aust for 3 years. generally ok but problem is if you use the ARB drop down delux awning room you will find that the awning room ( 8kg )tends to bend the horizontal swing out arms. We told ARB head office and manufacturing plant in Melbourne Australia ( where we live) about the issue and asked to speak to a technical ARB person. Unfortunately the sales staff at the Glossy Melb showroom say NO NO No way the poles bend ( despite have two bent poles of ours in their hands. Reluctantly they replaced them and when it a hAppened again we approached ARB in another state whilst on the road travelling with some very convivial feedback and got the same result excuses excuses excuses except this time they said 'stiff luck buddy' and no replacement so we bought more poles from them. So we just STOPPED sing the Drop down delux awning room and put it into storage at the back of our garage and continues to use the awning . NO PROBLEMS SINCE WITH THE POLES.. it is clearly apparent that the weight of the drop down awning is just a bit too much for the awning . We are about to travel again in late 2020 and may try to use the awning tent again and have now purchased two vertical poles to place under he awning arms about a metre out from the vehicle to support the swing out arms . Over the last three years we have purchased thousands of dollars of gear from ARB. inc fridges, underbody protection plates , awnings, drop down awning tent rooms, spot lights, radios, snorkels, recovery gear etc etc. generAl quality of ARB gear ok price point is expensive but generally ok BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WILLINGNESS TO TAKE A BIT OF CONVIVIAL FEEDBACK FORM AN ESTABLISHED CLIENT ABSOLUTELY LOUSY.
wow you had better luck at ARB in Auburn WA then I did for sure. I was met in the lobby and told we are the ARB distribution facility before I could say a word and ushered out by some lady. Good for you guys!
Cool video! Gather the brass casings, get a bucket full and take them to a junkyard where they buy scrap metal, aluminum cans, etc. You will get a lot more than you would for aluminum cans.
Get you some "Pop Up Canopy Sand Bags for Tents" for those legs. Great for rocky or sandy terrain, and sometimes easier than pounding pins into rock-dirt.
Cool. The tent side door makes more sense with a van sliding door...so it opens up the space. I have a van with a luggage rack. Would like to see one feature.... connect 2 additional legs and dismount the awning rack. So you have a stand-alone square caravan tent you can drive away from. When you break camp, pull the tent and van together, attach the awning rack, disassemble the tent, roll the awning back into the rack, stow the extra 2 legs (& maybe braces). Is this already on the market?
Unfortunately this site wouldn't be very defensible in case of an attack, as you can see at 1:11, should attackers gain a foothold on any of the high ground surrounding you they would be able to rain down fire on your position and force you to abandon your campsite. I would recommend resituating to the overlook on the right as this will allow you to pin your assailants between the two embankments and give them hell as they descent the left slope, and again as they attempt to ascend to reach your position. Of course numerical superiority may be the ultimate deciding factor but you still can make those bastards pay for every inch of ground.
Great videos! Can the room be put on so the side door can be on the opposite side? My awning is on the passenger side and I would like the door to the rear. Thanks.

we emailed ahead of time and arranged to work with a specific employee-- because she was right, it IS an office more than a store or support center
Even without the wind in your cut-away clip, it looks like you had your awning installed upside down, that makes it really hard for sure. 😉
I love that mountain top zombie fortification.
Cool video!

Or a gun shop where they can recycle via reloading.

I use two 5-gallon buckets full of rocks or soil attached to the guy wires as anchors / weighted.

good job
Picking up spent brass casings is great. Lead is not...wash hands and avoid eating or drinking with lead laden paws.
for sure!
She is soooo helpful
If I were you I would seriously consider panicking. ; )
where exactly is this? I Have to go!
Always be ready for the zombies!!!
Get some Bridge Spikes. They're like huge nails. You can almost pound them right through rocks.
IS THIS A 2M AWNING?
This is how light works.......lol
Rub your eyes after touching the bullet casings it’s good luck
