I like the idea that all Nepotism Celebs have Nepotism Rings that they use to unite and make truces
That appear out of nowhere when they want to use them and then disappear again when activated.
It’s a whole ceremony they get as soon as they decide to go in the industry. First you tell your famous parent, then they alert the PON. Within a week you’re flown out to Nepo Island, just north of Guyana, to be tested for a month. The Parliament of Nepotism sees if you have what it takes to really be famous… or at least coast enough not to ruin the family name. Once the test is done, if you passed, they cut off a small piece of your ear, forge it into the ring, and finalize it with a drop of the blood of the first nepo baby, Jesus, into the gem of the ring to bestow it with magic. The nepo baby is given the ring under two unbreakable conditions: never to betray the parliament, and always to honor the nepo truce.

The logistics might get complicated but if all three guys are into it, I don't think anyone would be lonely.
Which applies to PDD perfectly. Their movie was pretty awful. I only saw it for Conan.

I love how self aware this sketch is. Nepo babies, Lonelier Island, Roasting their movies, Workaholics😂. Ben being left out of the Nepo truce is just the icing on the cake.

@@ak35h22 those 3 have famous parents making them “nepo-babies” which are children of celebrities who have similar careers to their parents and had succeeded in it. and so because their parents already had connections to an industry, the child was able to use those in order to build a career in that industry.
john higgins (the grey sweater), his dad steve higgins is a current snl writer and is an announcer for the jimmy fallon show.
martin herlihy (the guy with glasses) is the son of tim herlihy who is an actor and comedian and also works as a writer and collaborator with adam sandler.
then there’s dakota johnson who is the daughter of both melanie griffith and don johnson who are both famous actors!

This sketch was gold, but the rest of the episode showed that there's a fine line between "deadpan" and "brutally unfunny"

i'm pretty sure most of these insults were sourced from the reddit comments to their movie trailer.
Judging by views and comments on social media this sketch was a real hit for PDD. So much credit to them for quickly recognizing what Dakota excels at whereas Hollywood generally still can't figure out what to do with her. Really hope PDD and Dakota collaborate again!
It is weird. She was so good in this sketch, but most of her movies utilize her as if she was a completely different actress.
I genuinely didn’t know she was this good of an actress. Comedic timing like this is so rare.
She even had her own sitcom „Ben and Kate“.. wasn’t bad but the ratings were so low that it got canceled lol
I don't think this was acting, she is usually pretty funny, she has roasted people on interviews before, this is just a little more scripted

I love a well written sketch that doesnt rely heavily on gimmick, stunts, etc
although when they were doing the throwing the phone at each other or being face down on the floor after a beating - it was a gimmick but still hysterical
This is literally their gimmick. Develop one joke as the premise of the sketch and then milk it for as long as it can milked.

@@Nilruin That is exactly my point. The original comment was that a well written sketch doesn't rely on a gimmick. When in truth, developing the premise followed by building and milking a joke IS sketch. PDD is following the rules of sketch to a tee. They establish the Who/What/Where, establish the premise followed by a joke, and then heighten the game. Pretty standard UCB, Second City stuff. They do not spend a lot of time on objectives and obstacles relating to characters and relationships, and how that affects the comedy.
@@christophersullivan6405 I meant gimmicks like props, crazy costumes, CGI, celebrity guest stars, etc. Developing a joke isn't a gimmick, its just good writing.

i get why critics hated it but honestly it was nice to watch a short comedy movie without much bigger to say then like friendship is important- deep and dark comedy is great but sometimes an eagle doing a sassy walk just tickles your ribs

This was definitely the best one. No special effects needed. No fancy set. Just give us more of THIS type of PDD please SNL.
Love that these guys aren't pulling any punches and would roast their own movies too. Dakota's comedic timing here is also impeccable.
THIS is how you gain respect as a nepo baby. Simply acknowledging it is enough to make people not care anymore. Not to mention these guys prove they deserve to be there with every video. Bravo.

Honestly, I was worried about PDD's quality slipping after the last couple videos. This one was a legit LOL sesh for me. So happy with this video. I might even see Madame Web after watching it...okay that was a lie, but I did think about for a minute.
They are by the far the funniest thing on SNL but yea the more zany and or abstract they get the less funnier they are. Good neighbor or whatever those dudes were called didn’t take that to heart and they aren’t on SNL anymore.
