Nice acquisition, Joe. I still have all of my Super 8 Castle Films etc. stored away somewhere along with my Bell & Howell projector(which still works!). I remember checking for titles to add to my collection in the camera department of various stores. The 12 minute ones were usually priced around $7 which was very expensive back in the day. I remember when the POTA series was released but for some reason I never bought any of them even though I was a big POTA fan. I probably never had enough cash. Enjoy!
Fun fact - this box of films was actually found buried in the forbidden zone , Dr Zaius brought them to a post office thinking they’d be lost forever, and years later an ex mailman ends up with these , I mean what are the odds !!
My family had an 8mm camera and projector and we had tones of home movies. I wanted to get the Star Wars films and of course would have loved the POTA films as well, but dad would have never let us kids near the projector for fear of breaking it and he never had time to run it for us, only on special occasions!
8mm was a good, affordable format for people to get home movies, and it's nice to see these reels. In the late '70s-early 80s, I would check out Super 8 movies from the library. They had a lot of Laurel & Hardy shorts and the earliest Charlie Chaplin films (1914-17), as well as other silent classics.
Cool stuff Mr.Mayo on your movie channel nice Mikey Arugula gave you some nice gifts! Planet of the Apes 68' -73' best of the best! The new Ape movies are Ok but you can't beat the original classics! Great movie Channel with good content! Enjoy your movie channel see you on Mean Mr.Mayo channel!
That’s a fun memory. It’s funny, but I hated knowing what I’d get for my birthday or Christmas. My mother could say “don’t look in the closet” and know the secret was safe. One time I accidentally saw a wrapped gift box, didn’t even touch it and confessed in tears that I knew there was a gift in the closet. As an older kid, I actually made my parents wait to open Christmas gifts until we had breakfast and were showered and dressed to build anticipation and so I didn’t have to do that boring stuff while something was waiting to be played with. 😂
I hunted for Christmas presents too, and I would find them. But how embarassing on Christmas that I had to "act surprised" when I opened those gifts. I feel guilty now.
That is awesome Joe. Do you have a projector or not? It is still so cool to own these if you have one or not. I used to have a GAF Silent Super8 Movie Projector and I remember I only had one film. The Marx Brothers, the Incredible Jewel Robbery
loved seeing these . great video
I remember seeing this when it came out in 1968. I was 13 years old. I loved it then and still love it now. Great video.
So Happy you love them - and brings back some great childhood memories
Thanks again!

I hope to order the silent Laurel and Hardys soon, as well as that HD restored talkies bluray.

It's my fault for bringing those memories back.

@@richardwhite2344 I haven't owned a projector in decades
How would you rate the Apes TV series compared to those movies?
I like the movies better, but I still enjoy the TV series.
@ Thanks, I’m considering a complete rewatch of everything!
