with the chart I was like "wait a moment... well no matter, everyone gets what you meant" Yeah... resellers started appearing... I will wait some more... I lasted 3 months without use of actual GPU, I can handle few more... I guess maybe even old one will be back from repair (its been 2 weeks already) and maybe I will skip this gen as gpus became ridiculously big recently (old one broke due to sag) and 7900 references have not exactly silent fan curve... though 50+ fps 4K in all games is tempting (I was a little disappointed with 6800xt in that regard)

@@thebadburrito1394 yeah that's big. It makes me wonder why AMD didn't just go with a 3 8-pin connector and push base clocks to 3ghz. I mean they would've been reviewed way better
I remember back in 2004, my very first graphics card was Power Color. I haven't bought them in recent years, I went to XFX as AMD has always been my cards of choice and EVGA if I was nVidia. I will definitely be picking me up a Power Color in the future as my new main brand. They are killing it and very impressive!
Custom backplate is such a simple but cool idea. Make sense to have the part facing up have some sort of design. I wonder if Dbrand will put their skin on it.. Also great job hosting Phil
It came out and it only comes with the geometric one, but the biometric one is available as well. The led's are part of the fan shroud, if you were to swap to a liquid cooling you would loose the led's. Unless you would do a universal GPU water block and VRAM plate with the fan shroud.
are the colors flipped in the graphs? i feel like whats labeled as 1080p and 4k are flipped? this is a sick looking card tho but kinda wild such a massive cooler didnt change the performance nearly as much as i thought it would
A few things I noticed when you showed the Port Royale workload comparison with the stock AMD card. Sure more power draw, BUT it was cooler temps...and lower fan RPM. So, I'm guessing it would be an overall quieter card. But, I'm also wondering if that allows for more OC headroom because of the bigger cooler. That would be nice to see is how far these both could be over clocked, and how much more performance you can squeak out of them and compare between the two.
I've been hearing that a third power connector on the XTX combined with overclocking gives double digits in performance gain. Can you look into this for us with the Red Devil?
The magnetic backplates are definitely a great idea. It's something maybe 3rd party backplate makers can take advantage of. Hopefully we can have this on other gpus as well.
I’m late to this comment section but Phil, you’re doing an awesome job man! Only 2 videos in and you already have your own presence behind the camera. Great stuff man, truly! Look forward to seeing more of you in the future.
I agree. I have had the 6900xt, 5700xt, Vega 64 Red devils and all have been cool, quiet GPUs. I thought the RD 6900xt was beautiful but this one here is stunning. I'm definitely getting one
Custom backplate is super cool but the cringy satan theme totally kills it lol. They should do a whole lineup, white jesus card, yellow spaghetti monster card etc
Kudos to Phil for starting to master being in front of the camera, I wouldn't really mind seeing a video featuring Phil once or twice a week on a regular basis.
Cool looking card, I also like the back-plates, this also really shows how strong the 4080 is and how NVIDIA really missed the boat with the pricing for everyone. I think Jay better hurry back too, because you are doing awesome work Phil.
I like the prototype backplate... It's so organic and Doom-ish. 😳 Red Devil cards never disappoint. They're beasts! Phil you're making me jealous! 🤣 Phil... Overclock it... And show us what it can do.😈
I've always been keen on MSI for my GPUs and motherboards. I'm very eager to see what MSI comes out with. Usually on the pricier end but they seem to always last me years without issues.
@@ReaperX7 I never liked XFX, for some reason the 2 different cards I had back in the day, years ago failed me early and had heating issues. I was probably just unlucky. ASRock makes nice cards too as well. I'll have to check them out! I'd consider ASRock.
Do your 7900XTX Red Devil has coil whine in gaming/benchmarks? My 7900xtx red devil has horrible coil whine even undervolted/underclocked and fps caped to 144fps...
I actually flipped my shit seeing this backplate. I knew from Paul's video that this was gonna be sick but this an entirely NEW level than I expected!!
To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed with the 'limited edition' of this card from Powercolor, you see people clocking the 7900 XTX past 3Ghz, yet they release a card that's running around 60°c has a potential for 525watts of total draw (3x 150w 8pins + 75w PCIe slot), I reckon that cooler is good for 450watts of cooling without sounding like a jet taking off. They should have pushed it, 3.1-3.2 GHz 450W OC bios target totally missed the mark on a Limited Edition. I guess they might do that with a water-cooled version or their waiting for the 7950 XTX next year?
It reaaally looks like they did a good job with that Callisto Protocol/Scorn centric aesthetic, I am guessing that GPU manufacturers were encouraged to make it for cyberpunk aesthetic back then (I know Jensen wanted CP2077 to show off RTX 3000, which is why it got rushed out the door undercooked), so I am guessing Callisto Protocol and Scorn is being used as the new poster children for this generatioN??
Honestly, I think of the currently released OEM RX 7000 cards, the Red Devil is definitely my favorite. The different choices for backplates is a great idea, as I'm fairly certain that there are plenty of people like myself who don't vertically mount their cards. I think the 3 8-pins and going for the thiccboi card wasn't necessary, based on the super-cool temperatures, but looks like it was engineered well. Very nice!
I can't wait to see what MSI comes out with. Always loved their GPU's and the looks. They seem to last a long time for me as well. I don't vertically mount my cards either so these magnetic back plates are pretty cool, as long as they aren't price gouging on them for some simple plastic. I wouldn't spend $50+ just for a custom magnetic back plate. $20-40? Probably.
god I love a red devil card, I had a 480, and my current 5700 XT from red devil are just awesome. I wonder if red devil has enabled it to be hooked up to ICUE or something with those headers would be nice
red devil has there own rgb program its like hidden on the red devil site. i changed my friends 5700xt red devil to pink lol.... although still looked pretty dam cool.
If you don't overclock this, there is pretty much no difference. Something that was not mentioned is the much lower temps at much lower fan RPM, even at higher power draw. So you could clock this pretty high, get better performance, while still running at lower fan rpm and temps. It's always up to the buyer, but if you don't plan on clocking your GPU and running at stock speeds, the reference or more basic models make more sense.
video update 6:20 the orange highlighted benchmark is 4k the Chocolate highlighted benchmark is 1440p the Brown highlighted benchmark is 1080p enjoy the rest🤙
I'm currently in the market for a 7900 XTX. After seeing this video, it looks like there isn't any real advantage on going with a much bigger card. The benchmarks speak for themselves. The 4080/4090 are ridiculously large which, in my opinion, makes team red so appealing now. I'm so happy I can watch videos on RUclips to help make me decide :)
I'm no scientist, but I thought magnets stopped working at a certain heat. If someone knows if the gpu gets hot enough for that and could let me know that would be nice.

Are you sure that the charts are ok? I mean, how 4k can have better performance than 1440p and 1080p? XD
I'd love for you to have some shows together with Jay in the future, great job. Regarding this card, I've always liked the Red Devil card designs, this one looks great as well and I'd pick up the alien-ish backplate right away. The performance uplift compared to the reference card is pretty much non-existant though and I already think that 7900 XTX cards should be priced at about 100-200$ less so nothing I see myself buy right now.
I remember many years ago that $300-400 could buy you a new, good mid tier card from either company. I miss those days. LOL Actually just a few years ago. I bought an MSI 1660 GTX TI for $300 brand new and it was a great mid tier card.
@@spankbuda5760 oh lol I didn't even know these before. These are under the live section, not videos though. And I think they'd be a great duo in many of the review videos etc. ;)
The removable backplate is a genius idea. I'm sure they'll come out with a bunch of different designs/prints for all kinds of styles, color themes, genres, etc to match any pc build. And, not even having to remove screws or anything makes it that much more appealing to anyone and everyone looking to get the perfect match for the rest of their build. Maybe even some of the other companies who have really recognizable looks/designs -- like ROG and TUF, even Noctua, for example -- could also design/recycle designs for their own backplates. Wasn't paying the best attention to the vid, so I don't know if Phil mentioned this; but, I just hope the red lighting can also be changed. I'm guessing that's just the stock setting being "Red Devil," again, for the same reason: not everyone has red in their color scheme. Thanks for the great showcase/review Phil!
It’s not just about performance, that bigger rad should help with keeping the ram and junctions cooler resulting in a longer lifespan and more consistency while gaming over the longer sessions…especially since the junction is 10c cooler than the regular xtx that is almost thermal throttling on all test shows around 85-89c
I can't wait to see the performance uplift with overclocking with the XTX models (well and the XT models) -- if the information that has gotten out so far with a 10-12% uplift are true... wow what thermal headroom.
I was hoping the AIBs would have free reign over TDP, especially after seeing it have 3x8pin connectors, but barely 375w, they literally couldve stayed with 2x8pin. big sad
8:56 "but what Powercolor did with this extra cooling " - is mostly way lower temps ! and noise apparently seeing this reduction in fan speed. 'cause let's be honest 1fps extra is not "more powerful" I feel like I should have been mentioned there
Nice, nice video! Really great seeing Phil up front! At minute one it sounded like a blend of Jay's voice into Phil's? I might have had a cocktail too many but I swear I heard Jay.
it's kind of crazy that for $600 less than a 4080 you are getting really comparable performance! You could build a friend or a sibling a whole gaming computer for that price! And if you have any old parts after the upgrade, you could get them a whole gaming station monitor and all for that price! What a crazy time to be a gamer, very exciting!
9:00 I think the important thing here is lower fan RPM and lower temps, despite a bit higher power draw. At least for me, those are reasons to buy over similar cards that achieve similar performance but with much louder ramped up fans.
Customised back plates that could be purchased separately would be awesome. It's something that not only card makers would get into, but game companies too. An obvious example for team Green partnerships - a cyberpunk back plate.
Phil, would you be able to overclock this card and run these speed tests again? I gather that these xtx cards are overclocking real well and coming closer to the 4090. Thanks !
Phil's hosting and presence is excellent, but it's missing the added presence of Phil laughing behind the camera at the bad/dad jokes/fails Make both happen! :D
What were the noise levels like between the Red Devil and the AMD card? The Red Devil is running at roughly 1250rpm while the other is running at roughly 1850rpm. Fan sizes look different too. Something tells me the AMD card was clearly more audible, but I wonder how big the difference actually is.
The "Guardians of the Galaxy" at 7:00 shows an interesting comparison. The identical framerates at 1080 and 1440 seem to show bottle necking (CPU?). I'm not, yet, aware of what this truly reveals, but seeing the difference in FPS between team red and team blue when bottle necked feels kind of important. I would, honestly, love to see this same comparison after 1 year (when team red has had a chance to further optimize their drivers).
I think I would put it at stock clock speeds and take advantage of the larger cooler. Especially since the clocks did virtually nothing? Guess they're going to have to OC it and see if the cooler maintains temps very well.

The graph colors are mixed up. 1080p is red but the FPS result shows the 4k. And 4k is grey but shows 1080p FPS
I saw that too, was a little confused with the graph.

if you are not on 4K, I would probably save the 650 bucks and buy 6700XT for $349.
Hold it for 2024 and then check out what the market has in store for you. That car will still sell for like $180.
with the chart I was like "wait a moment... well no matter, everyone gets what you meant"
Yeah... resellers started appearing... I will wait some more... I lasted 3 months without use of actual GPU, I can handle few more... I guess
maybe even old one will be back from repair (its been 2 weeks already) and maybe I will skip this gen as gpus became ridiculously big recently (old one broke due to sag) and 7900 references have not exactly silent fan curve... though 50+ fps 4K in all games is tempting (I was a little disappointed with 6800xt in that regard)
@@l67swap1 ha, yep, it’s a 6600k oc’d to 4.2 I think. It’s been a champ.
@@DuBstep115 good idea. I’m running two 1440’s, one for games and a proart for movies, RUclips, browsing.
I'm sure like most of us here, we would like to see this overclocked to see how far it can go in performance and what that chungus cooler can do! Btw have been loving your videos Phil! Keep it up!
I've seen a review on thr asus tuf where the oc pushed it 15% ahead of the reference 7900xtx
@@thebadburrito1394 yeah that's big. It makes me wonder why AMD didn't just go with a 3 8-pin connector and push base clocks to 3ghz. I mean they would've been reviewed way better
@@geo_beans its for the Aibs, so if you want more perfomance buy a high model of the card.
@@JoseindBloo I realize that, but I'm just saying it would've made AMDs launch look better
Exactly what I was going to say. If it's $100 or $150 more, it should have an extra 5-10% overclocking headroom to really be worth it.
Jay has never looked better! Whatever product your using is working! 👍🏻
I'm pretty amazed that these cards have higher fps at 4k than at 1080p😂 As most people here are saying, we need more Phil on this channel!
"Bottleneck" is the magic word :)
1080P limits the f*** outta those cards
@@HitokiriShin that's not how it works
Forgot to mention the temps: 14c lower with 600rpm less on this Red Devil is amazing, basically quieter + WAY cooler than the FE card.
we need to see you guys overclock this thing ive heard of people getting the lower end AIB cards well over 3ghz and getting way more performance
I'm just gonna wait for more benchmarks and driver updates.
@@juliosalguero4638 best way to do it brother, thankfully amd gpus usually improve with driver updates
Also great job hosting Phil
but can it run crysis?
An 12inch high gpu support stick "for those who run these cards in giant cases"... what kind of cases are these, a fridge?
Good job Phil! Jay should be proud of you! Hopefully in the future we'll gonna see videos of you two reviewing tech stuffs :) Cheers from Romania!
PhilTwoCents for the win good to see ya infront of the camera bud
Someone put Jay in the washer for too long, he has shrunk.
I wasn't expecting Phil just to start talking at the beginning of the video. Glad to see him again
Freaking love you Phil! Goes from amazing editing to amazing host!!!!
It came out and it only comes with the geometric one, but the biometric one is available as well. The led's are part of the fan shroud, if you were to swap to a liquid cooling you would loose the led's. Unless you would do a universal GPU water block and VRAM plate with the fan shroud.
are the colors flipped in the graphs? i feel like whats labeled as 1080p and 4k are flipped? this is a sick looking card tho but kinda wild such a massive cooler didnt change the performance nearly as much as i thought it would
Although it didn't seem to perform much better, the temps were excellent. Such improved temps can mean a much better lifespan for the card.
Red Devil grammar error “Show us YOU rig”
1:) Show us “your” rig!
2:) Show us “YOU DRIVE”! - Show us “YOU rig!
I have the previous gen Red Devil and love it, but I would love it even more if they came out with backplates for it too, like this generation has!
I love the 3 pci-e connectors so you don't start the pci-e connector on fire like with the rtx 4090 that's a nice touch🤣
I agree. I have had the 6900xt, 5700xt, Vega 64 Red devils and all have been cool, quiet GPUs. I thought the RD 6900xt was beautiful but this one here is stunning. I'm definitely getting one
What a cool card. Nice to see manufacturers differentiate themselves in new, interesting ways.
Custom backplate is super cool but the cringy satan theme totally kills it lol. They should do a whole lineup, white jesus card, yellow spaghetti monster card etc
I love PhilzTwoCents
It would be cool to see someone build a custom PC with the look of that second alien/insect like backplate
We want to see more of Phil! Keep up the great work Phil!
I like the prototype backplate... It's so organic and Doom-ish. 😳
Red Devil cards never disappoint. They're beasts!
Phil you're making me jealous! 🤣
Phil... Overclock it... And show us what it can do.😈
I've always been keen on MSI for my GPUs and motherboards. I'm very eager to see what MSI comes out with. Usually on the pricier end but they seem to always last me years without issues.
@@wombat5252 you should see the clocks ASRock is daring to pull off with their stuff. They're almost on par with XFX.
@@ReaperX7 I never liked XFX, for some reason the 2 different cards I had back in the day, years ago failed me early and had heating issues. I was probably just unlucky. ASRock makes nice cards too as well. I'll have to check them out! I'd consider ASRock.
red devil 6800 xt limited edition owner...it is a beast still :P :P
This proves we need more Phil in front of camera! Awesome job filling in big mans shoes.
Phil's Two Cents
Do your 7900XTX Red Devil has coil whine in gaming/benchmarks?
My 7900xtx red devil has horrible coil whine even undervolted/underclocked and fps caped to 144fps...
I actually flipped my shit seeing this backplate. I knew from Paul's video that this was gonna be sick but this an entirely NEW level than I expected!!
Cloud gaming will be more OP and more efficent in a few years -- will need a TiVo box and thats it lol
Another great job Phil! That card is sweet and the alienesque back plate is amazing!
8:55 The Red Devil runs 15°C cooler and 600rpm lower on the fan speed at load. That's significant. This thing is MUCH cooler and quieter.
$20-40? Probably.
I like it when Phil reviews stuff. He makes all the cars look huge.
god I love a red devil card, I had a 480, and my current 5700 XT from red devil are just awesome.
You doin' a great job Phil! I agree it will be great to have you on the screen more often. :)
video update 6:20
the orange highlighted benchmark is 4k
the Chocolate highlighted benchmark is 1440p
the Brown highlighted benchmark is 1080p
enjoy the rest🤙
I'm currently in the market for a 7900 XTX. After seeing this video, it looks like there isn't any real advantage on going with a much bigger card. The benchmarks speak for themselves. The 4080/4090 are ridiculously large which, in my opinion, makes team red so appealing now. I'm so happy I can watch videos on RUclips to help make me decide :)
Agree with you here, as of right now the smaler reference card are better. The price for this card will be to high for a few extra frames.
I'm no scientist, but I thought magnets stopped working at a certain heat. If someone knows if the gpu gets hot enough for that and could let me know that would be nice.
Are you sure that the charts are ok?
I mean, how 4k can have better performance than 1440p and 1080p?
XD
Nah, clearly mixed up.
the numbers were reversed on accident
Great Video Phill. Thanks for stepping up and filling in.
You mean like the JayzTwoCents RTFM Show on Fridays that they're all on?!
I like how FPS goes up the higher resolution you have. Awesome I need these cards!
It’s not just about performance, that bigger rad should help with keeping the ram and junctions cooler resulting in a longer lifespan and more consistency while gaming over the longer sessions…especially since the junction is 10c cooler than the regular xtx that is almost thermal throttling on all test shows around 85-89c
powercolor have been improving their designs.. they have come a long way..good job kabayan
I can't wait to see the performance uplift with overclocking with the XTX models (well and the XT models) -- if the information that has gotten out so far with a 10-12% uplift are true... wow what thermal headroom.
I was hoping the AIBs would have free reign over TDP, especially after seeing it have 3x8pin connectors, but barely 375w, they literally couldve stayed with 2x8pin. big sad
love seeing phil in front of the camera. hes still gotta loosen up a bit but i love it. hes a great guy great character
The Red Devil logo is the best logo for any graphics card IMO. Super simple, clean and looks great.
8:56 "but what Powercolor did with this extra cooling " - is mostly way lower temps ! and noise apparently seeing this reduction in fan speed.
'cause let's be honest 1fps extra is not "more powerful"
I feel like I should have been mentioned there
I like how the very beginning of the video is the second most replayed moment because everyone's checking if their audio is fucking up
Nice, nice video! Really great seeing Phil up front! At minute one it sounded like a blend of Jay's voice into Phil's? I might have had a cocktail too many but I swear I heard Jay.
I’m pretty sure the extra long support stick isn’t for big cases but is for inverted cases, where the gpu is at the top.
it's kind of crazy that for $600 less than a 4080 you are getting really comparable performance!
An obvious example for team Green partnerships - a cyberpunk back plate.
at EXACTLY 5:35 i swear i just saw the tiniest lilttle puff of smoke right where the upper right red led you can see is!
Phil, would you be able to overclock this card and run these speed tests again?
I gather that these xtx cards are overclocking real well and coming closer to the 4090.
Thanks !
Phil did great! Haven't seen him solo a video before. Not bad at all man.
Love the change up with Phil as the host. Great video fellas.
Just a heads-up, the benchmark graphs have the 1080p and 4K results flipped.
Phil's hosting and presence is excellent, but it's missing the added presence of Phil laughing behind the camera at the bad/dad jokes/fails
Make both happen!
Good job. Phil deserves a raise.
Love the prototype plate. Not so much the magnets. I like backplates that add structural support to the card.
I think I would put it at stock clock speeds and take advantage of the larger cooler. Especially since the clocks did virtually nothing? Guess they're going to have to OC it and see if the cooler maintains temps very well.
Phil'sTwoCents! I am glad you are still able to release videos while on vacation!
DAYUM JAY!!!! You lookin a little shorter and of some sort of Ethnical group. But seriously, I missed his name, but this dude KILLED IT!!!! I enjoyed seeing this special version of you.
Awesome to see Phil hosting!
I loved when Phil peeled the backplate plastic. Glad to see more Phil content too!
"It's a little bit bigger..."
The card: *Literally the thickness of a RTX 4000 card*
I am so happy that I was able to secure the 7900XTX Red Devil on Newegg yesterday my heart dropped once I was finally able to add it to my cart Im excited to pair it with my 7950X
Thumbs up for quality work by Phil taking on a new roll
Not gonna lie, I just watched the video because I saw that Phil was the one presenting it. He did not disappoint 😊😊
Graph had me bad trippin for a second then realized they just mislabeled and flipped the resolutions.
Thanks for the review!
