    All very Scottish, Great Highland Bagpipes-Scottish, Tartan kilts-Scottish, Glengarry hats-Scottish, sporrans-Scottish, spatts- Scottish. An American Irish society copying Scottish culture then pretending its Irish seems a bit confused when what you are seeing here is Scottish culture

    • @TeleChannel
      @TeleChannel  4 года назад +3

      Although kilts are traditionally associated with Scotland, they are also long-established in Irish culture.
      Kilts are worn in both Scotland and Ireland as a symbol of pride and a celebration of their Celtic heritage, yet each country’s kilt has many differences.

      @@TeleChannel Kilts in an irish context are very manufactured part of the culture that never really stuck. Irish male dancers used to wear them,but the practice had to be abandoned ,because the dancers were subjected to bullying ,because it was seen as a skirt.Irish pipe bands do wear kilts,but plain colour kilts not tartan. They are county tartans ,but again this is a new thing and they don't bare much relation to either the county crests or the more familar GAA colours which irish people wear to support their counties at gaelic sports gaelic football and hurling.

      @@TeleChannel I have looked at the link and its a load of nonsense. 99% of irish people would not know about county tartans.Its a made up marketing ploy for gullible americans and fairplay to them for trying and probably succeeding,but its not really an organic part of irish culture

      @@TeleChannel No they're not. The whole phenomenon is from Scottish regiments of the British army. There is nothing Irish about any of this - from head to toe. It is American confusionism.
