Wow that looks great!
Thanks for the video man. Thinking of getting one of the newer palomino backpacks. Great vid
Awesome! Let us know how you like it and feel free to ask any questions you may have about it :)
Wow you guys! How cool is that!! Nice job 👍🏼
Thanks!
Thanks for the vid!
Our pleasure!
Love the set up.
Thank you! Wait until you see our new setup... we will have a video coming out soon!
thanks for the video.. very informational :-) Thanks Again
You're welcome! :)
Cool rig you guys!! I'm currently working on a van build and I wish I had a partnership like you two do. Can't wait to see what's next for you both ♡
Awesome! Hope your build goes well! It's all worth it in the end :)
I WANT ONE!!!
We love our truck camper! Super portable and inexpensive way to live on the road! :)
Thank you for the video - very informative and well done. I've owned an older Palomino, and just got rid of an 2016 Adventurer 80RB. I'm looking now to get the same year and model camper as yours - after all your time on the road with it, how is the build quality? Any major issues?
No major issues :) we has to replace the window blind but thats it. Love the portability. We have a newer one now with a slideout which is in a separate video. Enjoy!
It is my understanding that when using frame mounts that you must also use spring loaded tie downs otherwise it will pull the brackets out of the camper.
We haven't had any issues in over 22,000 miles with it so guessing it should be ok. The brackets are stuck with a pin and have had no wear :)
Terrific layout - no fridge over the bed and appreciate the window to the truck which should be standard.
I know this is late, but was hoping you could advise about off-grid winter camping solo. You mentioned how cold it gets in the cabover, have heard this from others too, so would you recommend blocking off the bed completely (with heavy insulated drapes) and just sleeping on the sofa during really cold periods? I'm thinking it would be more comfortable/cost effective, albeit cramped.
Many thanks for the great tour - I think I'm sold on this one!
Thanks for watching! It's definitely not a 4 season camper - so I'd be careful depending on how cold of weather you want to camp in. If running a space heater you'd be fine, but for boondocking it will get a bit chilly since a lot of the heat likes to stay below the cabover. We have a few other camper videos on our channel. Our latest camper, an Arctic Fox, is much more insulated.
@@InfiniteExplorers Good to know and thanks so much for responding. I'll check out your Arctic Fox!
Great video , what size truck bed is your ram ? I have a 2500 ram 6.4 bed wanted to know because I’m wanting to tow a trailer and not have to use an extension hitch . Thanks
Thank you! 6.4 bed in this Ram.
👍
IoI...Hello..super cool video, I'm buying the same unit, for my RAM1500 ECODIESEL, I would like to know, did you have any problem regarding the weight? what would you recommend me?
That would be a little tight for me. I’m looking for a 2 to 3 pop outs.
Eagle Cap is a good brand for slide outs :)
That’s a nice camper might be a little over capacity for a 1/2 ton truck . Looks like a good time
Thanks! Yep, we had timbrens installed and it worked great for the 30,000 miles we drove it. One of our latest videos shows our newest setup.
@@InfiniteExplorers congrats on your new rig !
My friend what is the dry n wet weight also is that 8ft floor thnks, u guys stay safe god bless.
Dry weight is 1850lbs, wet is around 2300lbs. Thanks!
4 season capable? Great video👍
Yes it is, thanks!
Good vidéo..is the 1500 truck enough or should I go for a 250 ?
I am trying to not spend to much money for this set up.
Great share, TY... I have the 19 Ram, crew 6.4 bed length... what kind of mileage do you get with this rig?
Awesome, we get about 12-13mpg on average but can get as high as 16mpg if the conditions are right.
@@InfiniteExplorers Thank you. I researched my vin, 1700 lbs payload... is yours the same. It seems we are pushing the limits. I also looked at the suspension kit you recommended. Very affordable.. 3-4 hundred $? Right? By the way, how tall is the gent? I'm 6.3.. need headroom. Thanks again
@@samp.a.3445 I believe ours was 1890lbs but I'll have to check again later. Fully loaded it was around 2300lbs so it's a bit over payload as well. And yep thats the right suspension system! Works great. The interior is 6' 6".... it's a bit crowded above the bed since you cant sit up all the way but works fine for us. Hope this helps!
@@InfiniteExplorers thank you... helps a bunch!
checkout their palomino rogue eb1! 👍🏽
Do you know what is the center of gravity ? For the camper
Center of gravity is 27" :)
What does the inside look like?
I was curious if you had to put anything under the camper (between the bed and the camper floor) to raise it up for any clearance issues?
Hey Troy! We didn't - the camper sits in the bed as is. No clearance issues :)
@@InfiniteExplorers great to know! I am looking to move forward with the same setup. Great videos. I would be interested in some video of the truck and camper in action in future adventures. Cheers and safe travels!
@@troysullivan1681 Awesome :) We may be selling this setup to upgrade to a 1 ton truck and a larger palomino truck camper. It's worked great for us but we will be living in it half of year so a little more space is nice!
@@InfiniteExplorers hey guys I hope all is well! I know you guys upgraded the truck and camper (congrats). I was curious how many miles you put on the 1/2 ton setup and did you encounter any mechanical failures with the heavy payload?
@@troysullivan1681 Hey Troy! We sold the 2019 Ram 1500 with 40,600 miles on it when we upgraded to the 3500. We did not have any issues with it at all when we traded it in and never had any issues with the truck camper. We just needed a larger setup for the 6 month expedition :) Currently trying to sell our smaller HS750 thats in this video.
So this should work with my f150? I have extra leaf springs installed for my current camper, the Palomino ss550, this one is 100lb heavier. I guess I could put airbags in too.
You'd have to check the payload rating of the truck. This one was a little over our max payload but it worked great with Timbrens installed on the truck :)
@@InfiniteExplorers payload says 3120lbs stock. Should be good
@@Elflopadoor I thought that was my payload as well. I have an f150 payload is actually 1700 lbs. Check weight capacity on inside door.
@@Mountain.Seeker even if it's 1700 my extra leaf springs add 700lbs. I'll still be ok.
Can the Fridge run off the battery or is it just Propane and AC? Also if it can run off the Battery how does the Truck's alternator supply enough power for it?
The fridge is only propane unless plugged into an electric site or generator. Thanks!
I'm really curious after 3 years how this has worked out. 1- I know you are over the payload capacity. Legally, if something where to happen, you would be held liable.
I have the same truck and looked at these vs the Travel Lite and because of the weight alone I considered an F-150 with heavy duty payload package or a Ram 2500. I know the truck is capable but Id rather be in the clear just incase.
Hi! We actually only had this setup for 8 months...we quickly fell in love with truck camper life. If you check out our channel you'll see a video we posted a year ago of our current setup - a ram 3500 dually and Arctic Fox 1150 truck camper. Honestly, we had a ton of problems with the palomino and are very glad we switched to arctic fox. If I were you Id go with a bigger truck to start with and play it safe, plus in case you ever get a bigger camper.
Thanks for the feedback. I have seen a mix of reviews on the Palomino and Travel Lite brand.
A used 2019 Fox 865 just came up for sale by me for the same price as a new HS750. It all comes down to the dollar. However, a bigger truck and a bigger camper is always more $$$ and I still am trying to find a good balance between staying on the smaller side of the spectrum to go to more remote places.
Safe travels.
Hi Matt and Sarah ...... We've had 5 Ram half tons in our experience and 5 truck campers. All of the truck campers have been carried on our Ram 2500 3/4 ton because frankly, the Ram 1500s just don't have the payload capacity to carry most truck campers without exceeding the vehicle GVWR and rear axle rating. Carrying all that gear in your converted "closet" really adds weight to the rear of the camper guaranteeing you are exceeding the rear axle rating. I would recommend that you stop at a CAT scale and weigh your rig. Most truck campers are much heavier than the sticker and advertised base weight. Check the door jamb sticker on the driver's side to see the rated payload capacity for your truck and remember that in addition to the camper weight you have to add all the additional weight that you carry. We also added Timbrens to our 1500 in trying to carry a camper. We also tried adding the air springs that go inside the coil spring. No matter what suspension upgrades you make, none of them change the vehicle's GVWR or rear axle rating. Also, adding E rated tires, although a good idea, doesn't alter the fact that most of the wheels themselves on half tons are not rated for loads above the GVWR. In our case we had the Big Horn trim level truck and we paid about $34K for it. In the end, we found a Tradesman level 2500HD for $4K less. We were perfectly willing to sacrifice some bells and whistles for a truck with twice the payload as the 1500 as well as the stronger chassis, axles and brakes. Running the half ton above the GVWR will accelerate wear on all the drive line components including transmission and brakes. You might find our video on our truck campers of interest .... ruclips.net/video/MGldyeQJ-Zc/видео.html
Hi! Thanks for checking out our video. Since this was our first big trip with the truck and camper, we learned that we didn't need near as much gear in there as we show in this video. We ended up taking out a lot of extras that are seen in this video. Since the water tank isn't loaded to full capacity we aren't adding as much water weight either. Since this is a newer Ram we are right around the max payload for it, but have talked with ram to make sure that we are still safe with it. We plan to upgrade to a 3/4 ton or 1 ton Ram down the road and maybe get a slightly larger truck camper with a slide out - but this is definitely doing the job for now. We also installed Timbrens and have 10ply tires.
Hope you enjoy your time on the road! We are having a blast.
@@InfiniteExplorersYou say that you are right around the max payload for the truck ? Have you actually weighed the rig ? I still think that everyone with a truck camper should stop at the Cat scale just for verification and peace of mind.
@@TravelswithYoly yes, we made a few modifications like taking out the microwave since we don't use it as well as a few other things to lighten the load after it - so we are at about the max. The newer rams have better payloads than the older ones :)
@@InfiniteExplorers Yes, I am aware that the newer Rams have better payload capacities. I'd be curious to know what your door jamb sticker says ? The highest rated 2020 Ram is around 1920 lbs with the V6 engine. If you have the 5.7L Hemi so maybe closer to 1700 lbs. Remember you have to subtract your weight as well from the payload capacity to calculate the actual amount you can carry. Ours had the V6 and 2WD with a payload of 1800 lbs and it wasn't enough. In any case, if you haven't actually weighed your rig, you really have no point of reference. It's the best $10 you'll ever spend. I wish you safe travels :-)
@@TravelswithYoly - Why did you sale your 80RB? I am looking at these 2 champers the: 80RB and the HS750. I am leaning more toward the HS750 because it has a tankless hot water heater, which most homes & motorhomes/campers are going to because it saves weight. I am also considering these two campers because they both have bathrooms. I have a chevy 1500 1/2 ton long bed. I just rebuilt the motor and I am very comfortable with the mechanics of this truck. I will install air spring helpers and the appropriate tires. Your current camper is a eureka & looks like it does not have a bathroom, why did you choose this camper?
Hello you two - I'm considering buying one for strictly me - no partner - she's tired of RVing - I'm not tired of it - question - it looks like if I have an 8 foot bed that the camper can slide on and I could leave my tailgate on, right? Could I close the tail gate? I do believe the unit is less than 8 foot long if I remember my specs? The only drawback with the 750 is that there really is not much storage - so it must kinda drive you nuts at times? Good video production - thank you.
Hey Charles! I'm not sure if your truck bed would close... I think the bed would be a few inches too short for you to be able to do so. If you wanted a little extra space I'd recommend checking out the HS8801
@@InfiniteExplorers - thanks for the reply - I'll look into it for sure
@@charlesfnagel sounds great - let us know if you have any other questions!
@@InfiniteExplorers - thank you - thanks for the suggestion - I've been looking over the HS8801 - very nice with lots more storage - even by myself in this camper I would fill it up - used to own a Lance 1191 but oh my, the weight was so much I took it from Homer Alaska to Newfoundland and then back to Oregon 15,000 miles of driving and so much cost in gas in Canada - this HS8801 is half as much weight when I load it up with my gear - so thanks for the suggestions as I've been going down the rabbit hole of video after video on various campers - I'm certainly now gravitating toward your suggestion as well as the Adventurer is a very nice unit as well.
@@charlesfnagel The 8801 is an awesome model for sure - we didn't get it only because it would be way too much for a half ton truck. We upgraded to a Ram 3500 and Palomino HS2910 a few weeks ago and love it so far!
I would never let the dealer put those tacky advertisements on my new camper.
Agree. I've always peeled the free advertising off anything I've ever bought through the years
I feel sad for your toilet lol
Did you relocate your UConnect/SiriusXM antenna?
We didn't - SiriusXM didn't work well since the camper was on but the subscription was up 2 weeks after we hit the road anyways so we didn't renew it.
@@InfiniteExplorers Thanks. I rely on mine. Was looking for someone that’s had success relocating their antenna.
@@mitchwinder1204 We've heard about relocating it but haven't looked into it since we usually use our phones for music or just use the radio. Good luck with it though!
@@InfiniteExplorers Thanks. Wishing you safe travels from WI
That’s 1800 lb dry weight what is the payload of the half ton it sits on?
1960lbs - we upgraded suspension with Timbrens and upgraded to 10 ply tires. Worked great for the 30,000 miles that we drove with this camper :) We've upgraded rigs now and will have a new walkthrough coming out in the next week!
What size is the refrigerator haven't find it the info anywhere online
Not exactly sure since we own an Arctic Fox now. Easiest way is to describe it as a mini fridge that would be in a garage with a very small freezer. I think it's 5 cubic feet?
Okay yeah I watch some videos it looks like the the next biggest Palomino has a 6 ft3 I was wondering the difference between the 1801 in the 750
6 cubic foot
Is 2020 Ford F-150 able to carry this camper?
It would probably be running a bit over max payload... check to see what the max payload of your truck is. The camper is around 1850lbs dry weight. This truck is rated for about 2000lbs so when loaded it's a bit over max payload but still works great.
No problems with the half ton?
nope!
I had a 2016 pal back pack leaked from speakers had rot under galley found it 2 years after I bought it piece of crap there all flash not quality beware I sold it got a older northern light camper best ever : )
Oh wow, that doesn't sound good
Price? Thanks
Please check online options for pricing by searching Palomino HS750. Thanks!
@@InfiniteExplorers All he is going to find is an advertised price or MSRP. Why not just say what you paid?
가격대가 어느정도 한지요
Sorry to tell you guys but" your truck camper is not doing what you want it to do i don't want to seem negative but you using your bathroom as a wardrobe how can you 2 lovely people be happy with so many compromises" it would drive me nuts i have a campervan called la strada avanti h plus it really is a total storage camper please take a look at it and see what's out there it does what it says on the tin any questions let me know i really researched before i purchased and it paid off best of luck on your adventure together.
We are very happy with that choice! :) It wasn't a 1 sided decision... we both agreed to transform the bathroom because there are many public restrooms that we have access to. 94 days on the road with it and haven't second thought our bathroom decision even once.
@@InfiniteExplorers Using a toilet that strangers use? YUK!
No f'ing way. I'd use the back seat of the truck for clothes.
@@TheBandit7613 Not a problem for us - we haul a lot of gear with us so our back seat is already taken up. This was a 94 day expedition :)
Don't you love it when people buy a small camper and then stuff it completely full of s***
That's what happens when you live on the road for 94 days :)
Y’all and me have different priorities when it comes to the bathroom and also clothes. Crap you haul a lot of shit!
We were on the road for 3 months during this video. Check out our latest video, the palomino hs2910 to see the newest camper walkthru :)
@@InfiniteExplorers BEATIFUL rig right there! I'd love that but don't want to have to buy a 3/4 / Full ton so I'm probably going with the Palamino SS 1251 ...Only downside is things like having to stay in somewhere like a Walmart lot i wouldn't want it popped up!
