- Sistah Iminah is an Educator, Cultural Strategist, Singer/Songwriter, Dancer, Media Personality and Oakland native, with roots in Jamaica, Texas, Nigeria, and the African world.
Her life journey can best be themed rising “From Ghetto to Goddess”. As a youth, she overcame many trials that trap young Black women in the sex trafficking & school prison pipeline. A product of Oakland’s African-centered schools and OUSD, she has dedicated her life to inspire excellence and activate achievement in the youth of today.
As an Educational activist, Sistah Iminah has been heavily influential in implementing key policies and initiatives aimed at amplifying youth voice and improving life outcomes for students of color throughout the SF Bay Area. Her life's mission is to uplift the educational and life experience for African girls and women worldwide.
* In 2016 she led the Valuing Girls Voices movement to introduce a new sexual harassment policy in the Oakland Unified School District, which was unanimously approved by the school board & implemented district-wide.

* In 2017 she partnered with OUSD to launch the 1st ever district-wide initiative in the nation, focused on the advancement of Black female students, the African American Female Excellence initiative (AAFE), serving as the lead consultant.

* In 2018 she co-created the 1st ever A-G approved African American Women's Heritage social studies course in the nation, in partnership with the San Francisco Unified School District & Stanford University.
*
* In 2019 she returned to Oakland to lead the African American Female Excellence Initiative of OUSD’s Office of Equity, as Program Manager, with the goal of improving the educational experiences and life outcomes for Black female students.

We in the diaspora are not Africans, we are Hebrew Israelites. The Most High god made it clear, not to have confidence in Africans.

Here i am an African sitting in Michigan falling in love with her outfit. This sister has seen a lot. BMF that she referenced was a multi billionaire operation of black drug dealers which was started by two brothers and associates from Detroit and set up their operations in Atlanta. They were super rich and loved to show off their wealth but as always happens were brought down by the Feds. And she was involved in strip clubs and all the decadence that comes with it. She has been through the fire. BRAVO sister for your strong spirit. You are indeed a winner in the game of life. Much love to both of you sisters.

Though I was born and raised in a major city, I have never taken on the 'city girl' title or role. Just not my kind of thing tbh. City girls these days is different to that of city girls in my day.

She talks about how we've lost our identity. I always kind of felt some type of way about that most of my adult life but after I came to Ghana, my understanding of what that means is very different. People explained to me that their family names identify their language, their tribe, and the region where they come from. But we are the proverbial tree without roots. If we had retained our true names, I could go to the region of my actual ancestor because the name identifies the region. But because my name is completely and utterly made up and meaningless, I have been completely separated from my true culture and history. It was a diabolical and disgusting thing for them to do to us. And now we are forever nationless. If we still had our true names, would not Africans acknowledge us in a completely different way? With true names, we would never think of ourselves as something "different" than Africans and they would feel the same. So stripping us of our name harmed us in ways that we African Americans don't understand without knowing the power and value of a true name.

Most High willing my family and I will be moving to Ghana in October. We spent a year there back in 2016-2017. If it weren't for our finances, we would have stayed.
