Been a minute since I've done a Riff Journey or a guitar riff compilation type video. So now that In Flames are releasing their new album, I can take this opportunity to do a video on a band I've been wanting to do for the longest time. Highly influencial Melodic Death Metal and Metalcore band from Gothenburg, Sweden. Being part of that whole explosion of Swedish Melodeath bands from the mid 90's and then went on to be one of the main influence of all that Melodic Metalcore movement from the 2000's like Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, and As I Lay Dying. Hope you enjoy the video!

I'm a sucker for the entire 'Come Clarity' album. 'I am the Highway' is also pretty sick. And don't forget about the classic 'Pinball Map'.

@@jojoplaysmusic Yeah, there's some great stuff there. I'd even dare saying that if you dug deeper, you could find something in Battles. I reckon it's their weakest album, though, and that overall it sucks.

If it was not for in Flames and At The Gates all "metalcore" subgenre wouldn't exit, in my humble opinion. 😁
I mean there’s 90s metalcore and deathcore stuff that has no relation to melodeath whatsoever.

Yeah I know what you mean. Not all metalcore, but there's definitely was subgenre of metalcore that was very influenced by melodeath. The best type of metalcore if you ask me.
Slaughter of the Soul and its consequences have been a disaster for the metal scene.
@@rudolfantlerofficial fuck no. I love that style of melodeath. Meshuggah has been more of a disaster honestly, I love them but they've influenced a legion of uninspired, boring Drop E tuning bands that all sound robotic and the same. Hate the modern state of djent and how it has infiltrated metalcore. Although there are some good bands.

I used to listen to In Flames back in the days, with Dark Tranquillity. I really liked their post 2000s albums, including Clayman. Never really cared after that :/

lmao as much as battles is probably my least favorite, it had some killer stuff from Bjorn in some of the songs. The End almost sounds like Embody The Invisible if you strip away the poppy stuff from the song
Soundtrack To Your Escape sounds pretty good with proper tone for guitar/drums... can't stand that album's tone except for My Sweet Shadow
Don't like Battles, eh? 😆That's ok... I like it. A good rock/light "metal" album, especially for if you're driving and you want to rock out moderately.

I dont know if its just the recording or your EQ but any more than 2feet away from my phone and this sounds like static. Good covers but you gotta work on your EQ, it's extremely muddy

Phone speakers are awful by design, I'd recommend listening to this on a decent set of headphones.
