    Not sure how I missed this video? But I have to say, it was super interesting to see the difference in hooves between the cows and bulls on a farm, and those out in nature.
    I never, in a million years thought I would become obsessed with cows hooves! lol I am a 54 year old woman that has spent my whole life in Metro Detroit, U.S.A. And have never even seen a cow in person! But I LOVE your videos!!
    I love the way you guys get along, and make work fun, and I really love the way you care for the animals! Its obvious that, while hoof trimming is your job, It is also your calling! You are a natural with the animals, and your care for them truly shows!!
    Thanks for sharing!! Love from the U.S. ❤❤

    I've got to say, the difference in environment in relation to hoof wear is incredible. My property is hard quartz country, with not a lot of rain anymore. As an Aussie, my experience is probably between yours and thus farm. We have muddy grassy regions but even our mud tends to be course and gritty instead of loamy. And of course we have a decent amount of granite. Then the dry red regions are largely iron rich dry sun-baked clay.

    Oh yeah, cows do have a very strong maternal instinct! A farmer was telling me that as he was weaning calves, separating them from the cows, he rolled a cow over by bumping her with his four wheeler. The cow came back and head butted the four wheeler! Keep in mind, that these are great big beef cattle, out in the pasture and wild! Scary moment for the farmer!

    Tell Craig that I woreout a many Percy Sledge pink 8-track tapes back in the Seventies riding and drinking on the backroads of Southeast Texas !!!! I don't think I ever heard anyone that could sing When A Man Loves A Woman , Cover Me , and all the songs he sang as good as he could , he put his heart and soul into everything he did !!!!!

    • @loupgarou95
      @loupgarou95 4 года назад +65

      @@stewartritchie2516 Exactly what he's said. Dairy cow's feet are often covered in a mix of liquid doodoo and mud from walking and standing inside where it builds up and it's hard to keep it rinsed clean all the time. Cattle that live on pasture aren't usually standing in wet ground. Although they obviously do get muddy it's not so gross and poopy.

      It's normal for cows to have loose poo. If they did not I would be concerned. They eat a very, very high fibre diet and are vegetarian. Not much room in the crush. If they were outside you would not notice. Farm life is just that way .

      To be fair you can run dairy cattle on pasture too but you might not get the same yield and would need far more land than feed lot production.
