I’ve listened to this song so many times but this is the first time I’ve seen the video, didn’t even know there was a video - but somehow my brain knows that this is exactly what a video of this song would be. So angry, so hot, love it.
This "goth" label for Bauhaus made everyone miss what the hell this pure experimental guitarist was doing in the late 70s start of 80s. For me this is moslty an experimental band for their era
Nice John Cale cover. I love how experimental BAUHAUS were, they never cared about musical labels and categories, they just wanted to push music to the limit. In this song they sound like the Industrial style that bands like Cabaret Voltaire, Coil, or Einstürzende Neubauten would later develop before that style took shape a couple of years later.
Virgin mary was tired So tired Tired of listening to gossip Gossip and complaints They came from next door damn that has stuck with me ever since i first heard it over 40 years ago, when I was just a teenager, listening to this bizarre band I had discovered, and could not get enough of.
This is one of the hottest performance ever! I love Peter's moves, like a sexy captivating stripper, was totally obsessed as a teenager! It never gets old!
So, I'm under the impression that this is a John Cale song. True? Either way, it's such a strange and beautiful piece of art rock. Musically its very straightforward; a great, moody mid-pace drum beat, fantastic repetitive bassline, and basically a simple 3 chord verse/chorus arrangement. But everything else is so weird; the lyrics, the title, the meaning, the verse "melody." Anyone have any further details about the origins of this song, and bauhaus's version of it? (Assuming it IS a cover).
It reminds me of the small town where I grew up. All the residents, especially neighbours, loved to indulge in tabloid journalism and complaining. Let alone, being open to music or literature that isn't considered conventional. Being an admirer of Goth Rock made you a target of small-town gossip! Although I'm anything but a Goth, I'm certainly open to all kinds of musical or literary genres, which makes it difficult for people to tag you! I've been listening to Bauhaus since my husband introduced me to them in the mid-nineties. The eerie atmosphere they convey in both their music and videos is quite appealing to me!
That bit with Daniel Ash and Peter Murphy at the mics … WOW!

There will never be another one like them.
This is probably my favourite video on the internet
Bauhaus were masters of choosing cover songs. They absolutely understood how to make other people's songs strengthen their own repertoire.
Great bass line in this. Love the guitar sound and vibe. Awesome band so underrated so is Love n Rockets
Gaunt but not forgotten. My fave ever band
Best Band, best Frontman, best music best stage presence !!!!
I love this band.

As Virgin Prunes.
one could argue that they were a Jazz act. Watch that Grand Dad Go
Agreed
Goth can be experimental listen to Cinema Strange
A lot of goth bands of that era were experimental, it's exactly what created the goth sound

their live performances will never be equaled again
Stunning, they opened with this song at Brixton academy, set the tone for the full show 🤘
I was there too. Brilliant night.
"With BAUHAUS now in ULTRA 4K HD, you can now see the band's video of their twist on an old John Cale song, "Rosegarden Funeral of Pores". 💋
Their cry makes the deads creep. Great💕
One of the best things ever.
It's amazing that everything I like is Bauhaus infused. This sounds like what NIN and Manson were trying to do more than a decade later
There are videos posted here of Trent and Peter playing together in what looks like someone's living room. Kind of cool.
bauhaus for ever..... ....

Pete looks you dead in the eye at 3:33!
Que presença de palco do caralho! Foda demais!
As a late 80's goth kid, my biggest regret is never seeing Bauhaus live.
Love them so much
I've always loved this but omg, the Cruel World festival recording takes it into the stratosphere.
