Nice job Matt. I made clamps similar to these about 25 yrs ago, I think plans were in Shopsmith or Shop notes, I used steel bar, I made mine out of oak&ash, I also made a few with the cams on the top and varied the jaws in length from 4; 6 & 8”. I use them all the time, I have 14 of them.
Have you any idea what that wood type you used at 10'29" is? It looks like quite a tough hard wood. Thanks. I'm more a metal person than wood. I would have upgraded to a thicker metal bar stock for the clamp spine. Possibly taper the tips of the split pins on a grinder. It would help on insertion through the metal bar. It might be worth getting in a ream for the split pin size. To get the holes in the metal bars perfectly to size - drills are seldom spot on.
I have let some of my woodwork colleagues know about this site [Link Here== *TopFineWoodworking. Com* ]. I was especially awed in the wake of experiencing the outlines and plans that were incorporated into the bundle. This is the best item for any woodwork devotee and shed manufacturer out there.?
Looking to build everything, instead of buying it all, if it can be built I will focus on the Necessary projects first and Most projects for beginners require clamps! so finding the easy/beginner builds for clamps is a small mission, am yet to build a table! Not getting a head of myself, making plans from start to a potential finished shed is simple, also yet to get a shed lol focused on fishing videos for my break this year (2023-2024), give the mind something to chew on rather then the garbage that television and out news feeds spew out 24/7 day in day out. What are your goals for the next 10 years? My dad built almost everything he needed, did I bother to ask him how he did these things? Sadly no, now its all about learning through videos, the big collection of magazines and DVDs he left me. Will need to buy yearly subscriptions to the best simple to understand magazines. For the time being its Clamps so I can build other things, a table is not mandatory but they do help!
Did you come out with any prototypes that refused to hold? I’ve made several and the cams snap back into the slot; they won’t stay activated. Even when I hold the cam in place the jaw just slips loose along its bar.
I think one of them didn't hold well, the others however worked just fine. I think it has more to do with the shape of the cam than anything. The more oblong the ends that fit into the clamps were, the better.
Hey man, I noticed that when you were using your thickness planer you forgot to somehow stick your hands inside of the machine in the most dangerous way posible, you might want to re-record that segment to match the previous ones! (obviously a joke but damn it, I have so much respect for jointers, I'd hate to see what one could do to a hand). Anyway, thanks a lot and stay safe!
@White Marlin The smallest one we manufactur is the KLEMMSIA color. Here the capacity is 100mm and the depth is 110mm. This clamp has a very light weight, because of the Aluminium bar. This makes it very interesting for luthiers.
The chunk of wood that I used to make them with! It came from a chunk of half rotten white oak. I just didn't show myself breaking it down. I mean, isn't all wood scrap wood if it doesn't have a pre determined purpose?
Bonjourje vient de visionner ta video sur la fabrication des serres joint c est tout simplement genial alors dès que je m en ferais une paire, je me suis abonné a ta chaine car je pense que tu a de bonne idees Merci
Yeah. That’s a nice looking shop. All your cast iron tops are so shiney too. So much humidity in Ohio that all mine have a slight orange/yellow tint. Thanks for the video!
Nice design and build “ i have way too many clamps” said never by any Woodworker LOL I You. Dont beleive me try building a wooden boat especially like a cedar strip design
It gives me the creeps when I see a table saw being used without a hood on the blade. Very bad practice. I thought Canada was metric and not stuck in the stone age.
Nice video. Very clear and very good advice. Thanks for doing this.

Nice clamps and very well explained how you make them. Great video man!
Real nice man !
Hey thanks for sharing your videos. Could you please explain how to calculate eccentric cam for good clenching?
Can we use Teak wood also?
Excellent work, thanks for the plans, very good explanation, greetings from Valencia (SPAIN)
Muy buen proyecto, me gustó mucho y lo mejor que es con madera, saludos cordiales 🖐️ desde Chile 🇨🇱
Hey Matt welcome back. Good to see you again. It’s been a while hope all is well with you and your family.
Thanks Gary!

I always love a new Matt Lane video and this one was really awesome! Such a cool design. I really admire your ingenuity and craftsmanship! 👍🏼
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
Your video was extremely well done and what an AWESOME voice!
Thanks 😊

Nice work Matt....but please use push pads when using the jointer. If that board kicks out you will be missing digits the cannot be reattached.

I appreciate the feedback. I’ve not given up; I’ll reshape my cam and try again.
Great video and great work!
Mad skills....mad props!

Hey Matt! It's been a while..glad to see u back on the tube bro! Hope all is well! Been a while for me too I gotta get back into it ;)
Thanks Joe! Good to hear from you man!
nice work,i think I will try and make some,is the straight edge 1/8 thick ?,roll pins 1/8?
Yes and yes
ok,thx`s for the info.@@MattLaneWoodshop
The jointer is one of the most important machines to own but also the most dangerous! Hard to work without fingers! Be careful!
The original is called Klemmsia and it is commercially produced by Dünnemann for over 100 years! A new one sells for around 10 euros in Germany.
Yes you are right. Our (I'm the owner) KLEMMSIA cam clamp can generate a tension force up to 50kg (about 110lbs) with the new 90° cam lever.

i see yu like grisley nice tools
You ever notice how it takes more time to make the tools to make the tools than it does to make the tools? 😂😂😂
Good Job!
Well done, I love to make anything useful, not much of an artist !!!
Nice clamps, well done....where is the scrap wood ??
The chunk of wood that I used to make them with! It came from a chunk of half rotten white oak. I just didn't show myself breaking it down. I mean, isn't all wood scrap wood if it doesn't have a pre determined purpose?
What kind of wood?
White oak
Strange, I have the same ilm
Работал с такими струбцинками, быстрые крепкие.
You can buy these type of clamps with lever in the Netherlands.

This looks like a bigger shop than I’ve seen in previous videos. Did y’all move?
Yes, we moved a little over a year ago, I've got basically double the space now :)
Yeah. That’s a nice looking shop. All your cast iron tops are so shiney too. So much humidity in Ohio that all mine have a slight orange/yellow tint.
Thanks for the video!
Good job 👍
I think a flat steel bar wouldve been tougher than an aluminum one
if it works fancy as any thing else go for broke

Is this a hobby or business?
Hobby
Gee you’ve got some great equipment!
Hi Matt liked your "Shaving technique" for cleaning the curved parts of the clamp with bandsaw ... very nifty d:-)
Полезно
so you got 10s of thousends of dollars machines and you show me how to make wood clamps? clamps are like 7eur
Glad you liked it!!!
класс

I thought Canada was metric and not stuck in the stone age.
There are two types of Countries. Those that use metric and those that have landed on the moon.
What a JOKE.
A scrap wood project??? You have all the tools in the book plus a massive place to work on. So no need to go cheap in your workshop.
Glad you liked it!
why the need too watch every one being made ??? vid could have been done in 5 mins tops????
To piss you off!
Good job!
