I’ve had the Duplex for a few years, but just ordered the freestanding kit and watched your video prior to trying to assemble it. I had watched Zpacks’ video, but you had some great additional tips in there. Thank you so much! 🙏
I have the free standing poles- the first time I used them was on Springer Mountain in January. High winds and snow! With the trekking poles added, the tent was surprisingly solid.
Bart thx very much for your reviews I followed your videos and your hikes and feel confident in your opinions when it comes to purchasing... keep the videos coming there amazing informative and inspirational best wishes
I enjoyed this. I have the same camo duplex and ordered the flew kit but never got around to trying before I also ended up buying the Zpacks freeduo tent. When I use the duplex I miss the freeduo and when I use the freeduo I miss the duplex.....great tents.
Yeah, I've not used the FreeDuo yet. The think I don't like about it is there's no way to add trekking poles support if I wanted. On the CDT the winds were very strong. I would imagine the Free Duo would have tried to buckle. But with the Duplex, trekking poles AND Freestanding Poles, it withstood the winds very well. The Duplex plus Freestanding poles just gives me so many OPTIONS.
@@onthetrailwithbart523 Well I'm happy to say the Freeduo can take a lot of wind(equal if not better than the duplex I've found so far) when its pegged down. In spite of its freestanding I still peg it down. My only concern with the FD is if a pole breaks?...The duplex wins in that case.
Love your video! Thank you for sharing. May I ask you, I also have duplex and one of the eyelet was broken. Do you know where can I purchase the eyelet? Thank you!

Glad it was helpful!
If you pair the freestanding kit WITH trekking poles, the duplex is VERY good in high wind, rain.
Good tip on using your foot...👍

Great demo! Thank you! I have the Duplex, but then got the free-standing bug in me. This appears to be the best of both worlds. Adding to cart!
Clean and clear explanation. Well done.
Thank you!
This was super helpful. Thank you!

Thx. Just got mine and will be testing it out this weekend when we camp on the John Day River in Easten Or
You’ll love it!

@@boutthere3374 Well, there is a point of 'redundancy' built into my trekking poles/freestanding poles combination isn't there?
I too have the free standing kit but on the AT south of Vermont, I won't take them along to save the weight. John from MI
