Never tried this. Will now give it a go. You would have failed an IFR checkride - ±100' 🙂 I know you like a low sun, and it is pretty, but very dull to watch for an hour...... Thanks for doing these videos.
Thanks for the feedback. It’s funny you mention the sky, I was thinking the same thing the other day as well. I have a habit of tracking real world time and weather. It turns out that recording early in the UK approaching winter often results in a bleak aspect!
I fly mostly IFR flight plans in X-Plane 12. The ATC is dismal, in my opinion, for filing IFR flight plans, and the flight following feature has me changing squawk codes more often than is necessary. ATC during IFR operations unfailingly gives me vectors that stray from my filed flight plan, and the majority of IFR flights are not logged as such in the X-Plane 12 logbook. Great video, mate! 😊
Thanks, it will be interesting to see if the promised updates result in a step change. What is a bit weird at Humberside is the missing out of the Approach controller in the the transition to London Control. That and the unwillingness to clear landings in VFR.
PilotEdge is a brilliant service. Too expensive for me so I just sign up once a year for Oskkosh. This was brilliant ruclips.net/video/0-a2TmW5O40/видео.html
Helpful, thanks. I've been flying v12.1.3 for about 3 weeks and it appears improved, but still with odd features. IFR flights with the Zibo B737 have encountered some vectors to final that have seemed out of the way, and not consistent with what I know gets assigned (around KPHL for example). Flying the CARTR5 STAR to the ILS 24R at CYUL, ATC actually instructed a "descend and maintain 0 before reaching the IAF. Definitely still work in progress. (BTW, in the US, ATIS stands for Automatic Terminal Information Service. )
It gets a little bit better with each release but can’t replace interacting with a person. Have you tried SayIntentions AI? The price has put me off thus far.
@@ColinParker1967 look for FOV left bottom of graphics setting page. most planes have around 80%. then use arrow keys, page up and down to get best position and save the result by CTRL-Nr (pad). Re-call the position by that Nr. at any time. It's called quick look. you have up to 9 positions you can save.
I see all these AI voices on videos now - can't xplane use the same tech. These voices are from like 10-20 years ago - no improvement. Aviation vocabulary is very limited - speech recognition shouldn't be too difficult. ATC interaction should be natural - speak and hear.
@@ColinParker1967 My point is the tech is here. Google voice recognition is great - use that tech and translate to text and then parse it to figure out what the user is saying. In the reverse, use the tools that these youtube videos use to generate auto videos - the voices are much better than these robotic ones. In 2025 - we should not be interacting with ATC by reading a text and then responding by selecting from a list of options.
Very helpful and thanks!
Thanks
Oscar Mike Golf. That's great!
Thanks

@@nathanwildthorn6919 That's why I fly IFR in PilotEdge!

@@ColinParker1967 I agree regarding SayIntentions. I use VATSIM when they're available, but resort to AutoATC when VATSIM is off-line.
you know there you can reduce the zoom factor in the graphics settings? you almost sit on the engine!
Thanks I will look into that

It's definitely better than xp11.. it's a work in progress.....I like using it with the plugin ,X Chatter
Agreed, I am not sure it will ever be as good as interacting with a real controller though…
I’ve been simming for 30 years. I am really tired of paying for works in progress. Get it done already!

I agree and some of the pronunciation of place names particularly in the UK leaves a lot to be desired. A way to go I reckon.
