Richter is a window into the heart of the composer
Couldn't have said it better!
Really He is!!!!!!! N
Thank you Richter for having ever existed.
First time I saw him was in Frankfurt 1961. I never forgot this great man and his feeling of music
I am hearing this rendition from Richter for the first time. I cannot help it but i have a strong feeling that Beethoven was probably in the hall at that precise moment. I can't recall hearing this last sonata played with such authenticity. Thank you for posting this wonderful interpretation that brings us in contact with the genius of Ludwig Van Beethoven
Yawn
Beyond incredible. This music is from a different universe. God bless their soul (Beethoven, Richter)
There is no god, there's only Beethoven and Richter. Or are they not enough for you mister?
He played this piece as if he was possessed by the spirit of Beethoven. 👏👏👏👏
totally agree with u
Unvergesslich !
Boze boze smori ga
That's what Beethoven wanted to hear but couldn''t and he was kind enough to write it down for us....what a performance
I have not heard better, not by any of the greats. Seemed like Ludwig was standing there listening and approving. Absolute phenomenon.
The best interpretation of 32! Two genius in this sonata! Can listen hundreds times and find new feelings. Thanks ❤
It is extraordinary how he maintains a singing line through the complexities of the 2nd movement...a true master speaking.
Yeah, that's just incredible - one of a kind
Richter spielt wie Beethoven, phantastisch
Nobody else can perform like He did.. Thank You, Richter.
To me by far the best rendition of this sonata
The greatest pianist ever ...forever ...
The trills starting at 22:20 are beyond belief. Doesn't miss a note. The notes above and below, completely independent. Impossible.
No one plays Beethoven like this.
The end of the music is totally the spitiritual sublimation.
Every note played by Richter sounds so natural, beautiful and poetic. This video makes my day. Thank you.
The second movement of that sonata is a beautiful flowing narrative with plot twists, including a glimpse at the future. It's one the most remarkable pieces of music that I know of.
I agree, the most important thing is not if it's rag or jazz, it's the glimpse of the future! Geniuses, like Beethoven, go beyond themselves.
That's a wonderful description
@@arturolopezportillocontrer4902 and as a glimpse of the future he also composed the grosse fuge, a work described as "incomprehensible, like Chinese" in a review 1826. Well, to understand a genius, you have to be one yourself :)
Richter? A legend!
I love Richter.i love the way him plays.❤
Phenomenal performance of one of Beethoven's greatest works.
GENIUS, GENIUS, GENIUS... !!!
You are RIGHT, you are RIGHT, you are RIGHT...!!! ;)
This for sure is my favourite Beethoven. And Richter is a wordless performer of this incredible and even exquisite sonata.
This man is not human! ❤
Sensational performance, as only to be expected from this truly great artist. His other recordings of the Opus 111 are consistently entrancing as well (Leipzig 1963, Tokyo 1974, Stuttgart 1991), but this is the one I keep coming back to. And just try to think how Richter's transcendent pianism would sound with the best of modern pianos and the latest recording technology!
Hail to the maestro Svatilav, shining example to all pianist and musicians in general ! He makes the piano sing and is above any thinkable technical difficulty & supersedes to a musical stratosphere never reached before !!
+Yuriy Bokhonoff Etim on i unikalen!!! Spasibo iuri!!!
Simply the best 🙂
He was a monster
Great pianist ever!
He really played a touching Beethoven's op.111.
This is to die for...
I start my day with Richter. Gives me spirit for all the day. Thank you for uploading.
Eu também. Maravilhoso
It's like listening to a studio recording. It's that good.
Tempo very fast, however, only a Giant of a Genius can pull this off. I don’t think one person coughed in that recidle . I have many of Sviatoslav Recordings and envy anyone who has seen him performed. Yes, truly 20th Master of the piano with Emil Gilles .
Thank You for uploading all that amazing videos . Thank You.
What a savage... yet he is still so lyrical and reflective, incredible how this works together in such a perfect symbiosis. True master, bravo bravissimo!!
What a marvelous performance! By far the beyond my expectation..
Why does it give me goose bumps all over?
Rest in peace Richter, one and only
Forever Richter.
This is the first time I have heard anyone play the final bars without breaking tempo. Haven't seen the score for a while, but I think it's where the parallel run goes from thirds to sixths. Everyone else "stops" essentially, at that point. I myself never had - might get back to it one day - the dexterity; felt like trying to walk through a brick wall. But I was always convinced that it was wrong to try to second-guess Beethoven.
The definitive performance of this piece.
One and only for all time.
It seems he said he wasn't satisfied by his way of playing.... Honestly I don't know what else a man can ask from his body, strength of will, intelligence and spirit... Richter is just beyond the limits of achievement
So beautifull!
Fantastic. Great pianist ever!
Extraordinary control of dynamics!
Beethoven. S. Richter un virtuoso del piano ! Gracias ADGO .
Man o man, what a giant
17:40 ....why does this sound so magical......❤
so powerful interpretation unimitatable
I heard Richter play the Brahms Piano Concerto no. 2 live in 1966. My hair stood up on end it was so powerful and emotionally moving. He seemed to channel Brahms, just like he seems to embody Beethoven here. And yes the recording is pretty bad, so you can't judge based on that. But live - he was incomparable!
Fritz Reiner....Chicago? My favorite "tape recording" back in the day!
Are you sure about the date?I can't find any live recording of this work in 1966!!
@@falamimire May be it was not recorded?
The way he's bopping around like mad at about 15:10 is unbelievable. 'Them' swung triplets.
What a Monumental piece of music and as picky as Beethoven must have been I think he would applaud this version!
play like jazz
un jeu fantastique, du talent pur.
This may be the best version of op. 111, I've yet to hear. It flows so beautifully and is performed with such clarity.

Does not even compare to the depth of spirit and beauty of sound that Arrau gets. No one plays this sonata better than Arrau
@@arturonicolayevsky9675 once you’re at the level of Arrau, Ritchter, Brendel, Barenboim, Horowitz, Bolet, Rubinstein etc., you just have to appreciate their genius - though favourites are allowed 😉
@@lefinlay I am sorry, Brendel or Bolet were never at the level of Arrau, in no respect,...Richter was a great genius, but uneven, some things he played incredibly beautiful others more mechanical,... Beethoven's 111 especially the arietta is perhaps one of the most subtle profound, other wordly, pieces of music,... playing a wrong note here or there is not the point at all, Barenboim is a genius, yes no one in the world knows more music than him.... incredible memory,... technically, doesnt have time to practice that much,...Horowitz was a great artist, Rubinstein projected his love of life,... as far as a complete artist, with incredible technic, huge repertoire, beautiful sound and colors, no one comes close to Arrau,.... and i am not the only one saying this
No.
Thank you dearly for this and other videos of Richter, thanks!!!
total mastery and authority.
i love you, beethoven. forever.
again you make me tap my feet to the sound of the First Jazz.
I doubt myself could be that passionate like him at the age of 60.

@@soonjaelee5049 lol, chill bro.
Ouvindo no Brasil. Vale a pena ouvir esse rapaz. Quanto talento! Pródigio
far and away the most noble and spiritual performance -- the Dionysian and Apollonian in perfect balance.
Du très grand art, Richter fantastique pianiste.
E X T R A O R D I N A I R E !!!! MERCI !!!
My first time listen to his Beethoven's. As Extremely Trembling and Touching to my heart as He played Schubert's and Mozart's! No Wonder He can be one of the World Class Masters of the Century, at least in my terms. How about you guys?
I agree.
Definitely, he was one of the most legendary Pianists of 20th century
Totally. He was a force of Nature. To me he captured loneliness in sound, but also a unique energy..
There are many great Beethoven pianists. But here Richter again proves himself first among equals. There can never be a superior I think.
Amazing performance.
Beautiful piano playing ! Thanks !
Amazing, thank you for posting this ,I never will be recognise this as Beethoven, sounds more like modern arrangement of hid works, and the Grate Richter brings me in trance.
An historic version..only Richter could do it in such a way I think..with such a rage..beyond traumas and misunderstandings..one cannot understand or comment Beethoven..my wife thinks it's a funeral's music..I hear it differently, with my heart, trying to put myself at Richter's place, the fact that his mother have abandoned him, and all he went through then..I guess this is how art happens to be and is, beyond our immediate feelings, and matured by suffering..but here we are in front of someone, Beethoven, who got his own doses of despair and loneliness, and who, in spite that he became deaf, transformed and transcended all the music of his epoch, producing a new way to interpret and transfigure the Art itself..nothing great may be accomplished without pain, the joy in music will come maybe one day..but for now we've got the keys for grandeur given by two geniuses, a god and his messenger..thank you Sviatoslav, etym. the Holy Slav, love this version.........
Mario Barbov you are soo right !
Mario Barbov wonderful commentary on this legendary genius who brings Beethoven to life!
Absolutely agreed :)
Hear hear!
Maravilloso
Yuriy Bokhonoff
You are comparing valentina to Richter? Wow. That's not well. Valentina is good youtuber pianist. Richter is TRUE genius.
Michailkotin.
Sonata veramente complessa. Magnifica. Resa magnificamente da Richter.
Overwhelming! Great and fantastic performance! 👏👏👏👏👏
Definitely gorgeous rendition ~
Some of Beethoven's thorniest and most dramatic c minor writing resolving in eternal peace in C Major.
Magnificent performance by Richter.
Thank you so much!!!
Indimenticabile interpretazione dell'ultima sonata di Beethoven
Bethoven opens the way to the 20th century
ETERNAS GRACIAS A BEETHOVEN Y A RICHTER!!!!!!!
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥✨✨✨✨✨
Thanks a lot for all those Richter videos !!
The MASTER at work like no one else....!!
Pieno Romanticismo.
