    Complete Guide to Gods: • The COMPLETE Guide to ...
    The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
    The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

    I can't tell you how much I appreciate you guys at Fudgemuppet, you guys have made me realize my love for history and now I'm in the process of trying to enroll at my local college to get a history degree. Seriously without your lore videos I would have never made the realization of how much I always try to actively research more of the history of not only games, but also our own history. Thank you so much for allowing me to realize my calling in life, seriously your content is what finally made me realize how much I enjoy history in, both fiction and reality.

      So much so that Tiber septim the 7th had so much respect for the Orcs that he was about to give a chunk of land between High Rock Skyrim and hammerfell to become the province orsinium. However because of the Mystic Dawn and Tiber septim's vision of his death, he was never able to make orsinium into an actual Providence. Like it would always be that black and white.
      Even in our history most hated factions sided at some point, if it benefits from it.
      Orsinium was destroyed long ago at the time of eso and the clans were mostly spreaded in Skyrim, especially falkreath.
      A whole new generation of orcs built the second orsinium, including Kurog, who was very ambitious in uniting the orcish clans and establishing an own kingdom. He knew he couldn't reach, that without help. When Emeric needed help to defeat a rebellion started by Ranser, Kurog offered help and he was allowed to built an orcish kingdom with a big part of High Rocks territory.
      Orsinium is still at its building phase in eso and it's not like they are best friends, but both benefitted from it, they achieved peace, a large kingdom, unification and identification, trade deals with bretons. Of course Emeric played a big part in it too, he wasn't a racist and he knew he would need allies, I mean he even married a Redguards princess to get the forebears on his side. Crowns don't accept the covenant anyway. If you want it detailed, then just play eso.

    Orcs are more interesting than I was led to believe. What fascinates me is how Gortwog gro-Nagorm would gain success in establishing Orsinium after using more diplomatic and political means, in what I see as a development in Orcs, adapting themselves to fit into a more civilized world, and forego the wild pariah traditions, which had only made them resented by the other races, given their brutal and beastlike communities. The theory that Malacath may instead be a path to darkness and continued resentment, and the worship of Trinimac, their original leader, untwisted by Daedra, be a symbol of a new era of Orcs. This non-Daedric alternative to worship, combined with an increased effort to build a strong relationship with The Empire, would truly help the Orcs gain a permanent footing in Tamriel as an accepted folk. The conversion won't be easy, as many Orcs fear the consequences of breaking their pact with Malacath, but I believe threats of punishment shouldn't scare Orcs into building a better future for themselves. They are not so intimidated. The conservative Orcs will, however, continue to hold strongly to their traditions, creating a divide between the race.

    • @Lolpy.
      @Lolpy. 2 года назад +3

      It would be ironically fitting for the Orsimer to abandon Malacath. Malacath being the prince of the shunned and ostracized, and having the Orcs abandon him in favor of Trinimac, his “better half” if you will, is very fitting for the very embodiment of the hated.

    Orsimer are my favourite kind of Orcs. Elder Scrolls took everything we recognise as Orcish (savage warrior race who worship a warrior deity) and injected nuance, tragedy, sympathy, inspirational levels of strength and resilience.
    I would love to play an Elder Scrolls game about building the 5th Orsinium. You are an Orc Warlord trying to build the new Nation State. You must gather resources, be diplomatic with other races whilst doing them favours, take care of your people and build an Orcish civilisation from the ground up. You also get a choice whether to join the Imperial Empire or the Aldmeri Dominion or become an Independent state. The choices you make will determine the kind of Orsinium you build and whether or not it's sustainable.

    I do mostly enjoy Fudgemuppet TES lore, but the 4th era blindspot zone... anything between 4E01 & 4E0201 does sometimes annoy, when at least some detail is available, if not a lot.
    Instead of only mentioning the sacking of Nova Orsinium early in the 4th era in one just sentence, there's at least three of four sentences of available detail to properly place it in context.
    It would have been worthy to note that it occurred near to the end of the seven years of the Stormcrown Interregnum. Well after the assassination of Potentate Ocato and before the rise of Titus Mede I, when the fragmented Empire had little influence over other provinces. As I recall, a Daggerfall and Sentinel led force mounted a prolonged assault of Nova Orsinium. Two Legions still in the area assisted in the spiriting away of Orcish refugees, mostly children. I don't believe there's any clear detail of whether Wayrest actively took part in the sacking, though it was within the broader claim of Wayrest controlled land. Whether Wayrest participated or just stood aside, remains unspoken. There's enough detail to at least state that the sacking of Nova Orsinium only took place because there was no Empire of substance to stop it and that Daggerfall and Sentinel were eager to finally eliminate Gortwog's Orsinium, while they had the best chance to get rid of it for good. In any case, when available, context is everything. There was plenty of that earlier in the video, but not for the blindspot zone.
    My two cents for today.
    Still watching and mostly enjoying for my near daily dose of TES lore.
    SGI

      The Empire wouldn't have gotten involved in the ordeal anyway. So long as the Empire itself isn't threatened, the Empire doesn't care.

    • @gregmiller3290
      @gregmiller3290 5 лет назад

      That's probably a fair point also. However, my point was that the sacking of Nova Orsinium took place specifically during the Stormcrown Interregnum, when there was open opportunity for the remaining outlying provinces to run amok without any consequence of challenge from Cyrodiil. I thought that seemed contextually relevant to mention, if only briefly.

    • @dutchpatriot17
      @dutchpatriot17 5 лет назад

      @@gregmiller3290 Well, it was a time of chaos, and from what I recall, both High Rock and Hammerfell had either already left the Empire at that point, or were in the process of doing so. Orsinium was kind of a semi-Imperial region, so it would explain why the Empire would care, as they'd be directly threatening Imperial land.

    • @gregmiller3290
      @gregmiller3290 5 лет назад

      @@dutchpatriot17 Not to argue at all... but, perhaps discuss.
      As I understand it, those two provinces had not yet tried to secede from the stumbling Empire during those years [4E11-4E17]. It was more the case that the authority of the Empire under Thules 'the Gibbering' became tenuous at best. During Ocato's brief run at trying to maintain the Septim legacy, Argonia had rebelled and seceded. Morrowind suffered the Red Mountain incident. Then the Argonians rampaged across those territories and up the eastern coast, presumably on hist sap, before eventually retreating back to the south, once they were seemingly finished with that. The assassination of the Mane in Elseweyr led to the progressive break up of that province into lesser kingdoms, effectively breaking off from the Empire in bits and pieces, though an alliance of sorts with Rimmen apparently remained. Even the Summerset Isles had yet to officially secede or try to annex Valenwood until a few short years afterward. During the Stormcrown Interregnum, Bravil and Leyawiin had also rebelled against the White-Gold Tower. So, yeah... a time of chaos. The idea of an Empire ruled from the White-Gold Tower and administered by the Elder Council seemed more notional claim than a fact with substance.
      The perfect time for ignoring anything Uriel Septim VII might have agreed to in the past, like permitting Nova Orsinium to remain within the Wayrest controlled region of High Rock. I'd think that it would have been unlikely for Daggerfall and Sentinel to have gone all out on those particular Orcs under Uriel's rule. Perhaps, still somewhat unlikely during Ocato's brief run. However, during the Interregnum, I expect that it looked like a good time to indulge old hostilities with some abandon.
      Once Titus Mede I had taken the IC, he needed to fight to restore order in Cyrodiil first, then turn to asserting, coercing or negotiating Imperial authority over further dissent. Some remaining provinces were more easily persuaded than others. I believe that Skyrim and High Rock accepted Mede fairly easily. Hammerfell decided to put up a fight, but after some limited warfare, fell into line again. Argonia was already lost, along with the fragmented Elsweyr. Morrowind was a broken vassal, perhaps left on a long leash, rather than released. Then the Altmer finally broke away officially and then effectively took Valenwood with them.
      Given that the sacking of Nova Orsinium took place before he was even on the scene, it remains unknown how Titus Mede I might have responded. It seemed that he was trying rebuild the legacy of the Septim Empire with what remained, but the Thalmor regime stabbed a dagger into that as soon as he got to work on it. If nothing else, it seems that the new Emperor was fine with taking lots of Orcs into Legion ranks, but not doing much of anything else to either help or hinder the diaspora of Orcs.
      Anyhow, just my thoughts and observations, extrapolated from existing detail. And of course, details of that period remain somewhat scant, but not totally non-existent.
