Hey! I know it's not a new video, but shouldn't the ball joints be under "pressure" while tightening the screws on them? I mean shouldn't we hold the control arm from below on the ball joint-side while screwing the screws?
No you don't have to do that. This procedure needed when control arms have bushings, to tight them in place. In this car bushings are different, you can't mess up with them, just make sure that they settled in place.

Great video and explanation. I've just bought Meyle-HD Arms for my E46, but get a bit scared because I didn't came across "Made In..." and probably they are Chinese/Turkey made. How long the ball-joints lasted in your case? Thanks!
The control arms that I have, were made in Turkey too. My lasted 50 000 km and can last more. I just hit log in a frozen lake, twice, and after that one side got loose. I replaced both sides and second ball joint was in great condition. I thinking they can last the same amount of time as original. This depends on your driving style and road conditions. @@mladengsi2 I bought bushings together with control arms, they got cracks when I replaced ball joints and I replaced them too on my old ones which I bought a year before this. But I don't have any complaints about them. I think they can last 100 000 km for sure.

The same things, just include inner ball joint and hold control arm with vice.

you can replace the outer on the om ones but not the inner

Yes, inner joint is replaceable too. They sold separately.

If you have Meyle control arms then both ball joints replaceable. Any other brands need to replace ball joints with control arms together.

For sure you can change as many times as you need. This is life time control arm.

Do you have Meyle HD control arms? If not then you can't remove ball joints. You need to replace control arms first.

If you got original Lemforder control arms, it should last you another 150000 km.
Tire shop wanted 600$ for this service. DIY folks; save you an arm and a leg
Should've just replaced the whole control arm.
If you don't have Meyle control arm, yes, you need to replace whole control arm.
