- She's the latest breakout star on TikTok, and she’s got an extraordinary personal history. Jordan Turpin and her 12 siblings escaped the unthinkable house of horrors in California, where her parents David and Louise Turpin imprisoned, beat and tortured their children. Now, Jordan has made a name for herself on TikTok, amassing 500,000 followers. Fox Business host Cheryl Casone says that Turpin is well-positioned to potentially make millions on social media.
I generally hate TikTok influencers but she's been through so much that she deserves everything good that comes her way.
I agree. Tik tok is also terrible for one's mental health in the long run :( The way information passes through and is filtered by social media is definitely not safe for consumption. Social media is only good for insecurities, mob mentalities and group think. She's gone from a house of horrors (as the media dubs it) to an echo chamber. Jordan is a wonderful person though and I hope for the best for her, if there's anyone that deserves that, it's her.

I feel like stating she could make $1-3M and then saying she's fundraising may be confusing to some people, so as a content creator I want to clarify... it would be HIGHLY unlikely for her to make that kind of money with that following, even one far bigger. TikTok pays very little through their ads to their creators and unless she has a very good manager, she wouldn't be getting very highly paid for brand deals either. I say this because I want people to donate and support her and her siblings and they may not feel they need it if they think she's making that kind of money on TikTok. She would have to be FAR larger and have very good management to bring in anywhere close to $1-3M. I'd LOVE to see her get there one day, she and her family deserve all the success in the world and to live a peaceful, comfortable life, but if she's asking for donations please believe that they need it and don't assume she's making huge $ on social media, because many (even with big followings) aren't and new casts like this can be very misleading to the general public who don't know much about the industry.

The fact that she is raising money for her siblings is amazing. The end of that interview talked about how the system failed those kids when they got out of that house of horrors so I am glad that she is doing what she can to help.

So having a traumatic past should grant you fame? Fame which is also inherently traumatic and invasive? Nah. Let her heal and people should stop treating trauma like it’s a badge of honour or something that makes you stronger/better. It’s something that should never happen to a child and it makes life much more difficult to handle, it does no favours.

As someone who's at the older end of the "Gen X" scale, I tend to roll my eyes at the whole Tik Tok/social media "thing". But honestly, as I watch her here, knowing what she and her siblings have been through, I couldn't be more proud of her! It's such a triumph of the human spirit over heartbreaking circumstances. It's one of the most genuine celebrations of life I've seen. She's literally screaming to the world, "I'm here, and I matter!" I wish all of them all the success and happiness the universe can possibly bestow on them for the remainder of their lives.
I couldn’t agree more! Don’t you think all TikTok/social media creators deserve to be happy and feel this way too though? I think everyone deserves this happiness. She has been through so much, perhaps more than any of us, but overall we should all be happy for each other and everyone that decides to share a bit of their happiness with their world because we all matter and we’re all here.

It just gets easier to deal with after very hard work and consistency. This is why it needs to be taught more. It is not a choice. Wish it was. Trauma never leaves. Hurt feelings do leave as a choice. Not trauma.

Woah. She didn’t even know what medicine was when she escaped! She was used to the horrible things her parents did to her and her siblings. I’m sure she didn’t even have access to any devices there. Now she is bursting into the world and still there for her siblings. Super proud of her! Good job and good luck on your journey!
She did actually, watch their interview. The parents gave an old cheapy cell phone with no service (only wifi) to one of the other older siblings. She snuck and used the internet to watch music videos like Justin Bieber, take photos and post RUclips videos of herself singing when parents were asleep. A guy commented on one of her videos asking why she only took pics at night and looked like she was hiding or something, and told her to get help. Her sneaking and accessing the internet, seeing videos of what "normal life" was supposed to be confirmed to her and her sisters what they already felt - what their parents were doing was wrong. It helped give her the courage to escape and call for help on that same cell phone!
Having watched the whole saga, this girl deserves a shot at life, not least to support her brothers and sisters. Imagine being locked up for 17 years barely able to move ! A truly wonderful human being and deserves the support of humanity

The neighbors door am that caught her first climbing out of the window of the parents house, you can see her literally limping/stumbling outside and that she uses all of her might to turn it into a slow run!! Girl probably never ran outside in her life. Didn’t even know what a sidewalk was or what medicine was. I remember in the interview she said youtube helped her literally escape. (They snuck a phone in their room.) She watched music videos and the outside world, and realized other people didn't have to like those poor kids were. She didn't even have the language skills to talk to the cop properly - and look at her now. This makes me sooo happy for her! (I hope she has support to handle haters and trolls.)

I saw this story just now, caught up on the case and immediately found news exclusives with Jordan and now this. So happy she escaped that hell, but can't help but feel she's in a new hell... Being paraded in front of the world by the media for their own gain, and subjected to cancerous social media. She deserves better.
Jordan is a hero. I stand by that statement.

I can't help but fear what's she's about to be exposed to. She is honestly like a Child in a young adults body. Her comprehension is very little, meaning she doesn't understand words at that as if she foreign to this entire world no longer the hate that resonates in it as a slight comparison no worse than her parents. She has no teaching or adulting guidance or advice shes full fledged into this world alone with a bazillion people watching her. I hope she finds true people that will love and adore her and not take advantage of this little beauty. If you watch the interviews you will understand what I mean. Poor darling girl. Protect her 💛🦋 (even after she was free of them she had another home that was bad to her 😢) poor gentle soul.
I very much agree. While I'm happy to see her happy and smiling, there's something that doesn't seem right here. I watched that interview and my first thought was, someone is going to find this young woman and exploit her beauty and vulnerability. Social media can be a manipulative and unforgiving place. I pray she has valid, loving, and respectful people surrounding her at all times.

After all of the Free Britney things that were made public this last year, as she came from an abusive background and was exploited for her talents -- I worry that Jordan is far more vulnerable than even Britney. When the Fox Business person said she has potential to make "millions of dollars on social media", that honestly made my skin crawl.

This young woman that's so beautiful inside and out! I can't imagine the fear she experienced while escaping into a world she having no idea whether it would help or hurt her, as the last time one of them tried to escape, (the oldest jennifer) she was returned back home to her parents by the police. The cops could have stopped their torture if they would have just taken a minute to look closer. She was literally scared of death. She truly is a hero and an inspiration.
I'm glad she's finally free from her abusive parents to be able to do this.
