GBO2 RX-78-7 Gundam G07: Like Perfect Gundam but balanced!

  • This video contains two recent matches I had with the LV1 Gundam G07 on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 500 cost general with excellent stagger accumulation, a short cooldown insta stun grenade launcher, good overall melee damage, superb strafing speed paired with a small frame and pretty solid ranged DPS (if using the beam rifle). Its main weaknesses would be that the double beam saber downswing has short range for the first hit and narrow range for the second, as well as it having poor turning speed. This suit has been out for a fair bit now so I decided to revisit it, the opinion on it has seemed pretty mixed since then but I think it is underrated. It has a playstyle that is like a combination of the Pale Rider (VG) and Gundam MK-II, which makes it a blast to play if you are already good with those two. I hope that you enjoy watching!
    Stats for the LV1 Gundam G07:
    Primary weapon: Beam rifle with 1700 (2720) power, 60% (80%) heat, 1.5 seconds cooldown, 16 seconds overheat, 1 second swap time, 450m (500m) range, 2 seconds focus time and 65% (70%) stagger value. This doesn't instant stagger with uncharged shots but has incredible performance otherwise. It deals high damage, has long range and serves as a good combo tool for stagger accumulation.
    Primary weapon (alternate): Bazooka with 1250 power, 10 ammo, 6.7 seconds cooldown, 12 seconds reload, 1.7 seconds swap time, 375m rangge and 80% stagger value. Your ranged DPS potential is not nearly as good with this weapon compared to the beam rifle, but it can instant stagger without needing to charge.
    Primary melee weapon: Beam saber with 1950 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time and standard modifiers. This has fast swap time but mediocre power on its own. It is easy to secure knockdowns with.
    Sub weapon 1: Vulcan gun with 110 power, 40 ammo, 512 RPM, 9 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 175m range, 939 DPS and 5% stagger value. This takes 2.3 seconds to stagger with on its own, but it can stagger more quickly if you combo it with the beam rifle first.
    Sub weapon 2: Dual beam sabers with 2400 power, 3 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and 80%x2 downswing modifier. This deals great damage with downswings but the cooldown time and animation length means you cannot start and end combos with it.
    Sub weapon 3: Arm grenade launcher with 1200 power, 4 ammo, 5 seconds cooldown, 15 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 250m range and 10% stagger value. This has a large splash radius and instant staggers. It is good as a tool to continue staggering in combos.
    Sub weapon 4: Arm beam gun with 400 power, 15% heat, 180 RPM, 15 seconds overheat, 0.5 seconds swap time, 200m range, 1200 DPS and 20% stagger value. This staggers in 1.66 seconds on its own and has good DPS, it staggers even more quickly if you use your beam rifle first.
    It gets 15000 HP, 17 ballistic resistance, 19 beam resistance and 18 melee resistance. It has LV1 Emergency Evasion for a defensive skill. This is quite low durability, so you really need to rely on positioning yourself well rather than tanking damage.
    In terms of mobility it has 135 walking speed, 210 boosting speed, 65 thrust and 60 turning speed. It gets the combination of 100% strafing speed, LV2 Forced Injectors and LV2 Forced Injectors. It is a seriously fast suit, the turning speed is quite poor but you can improve that through custom parts.
    It also has access to LV3 EX Boost. This is activated via the touchpad and grants +20 boosting speed, +20 turning speed and +20% damage dealt (the damage buff only applies for 3 seconds after boosting) for 20 seconds, dodge rolling or tackling shortens the timer by 5 seconds. After the timer runs out, your thrusters will be overheated for triple the normal amount of time. This is a pretty good desperation skill if you have no other options.
    In conclusion, I think that the Gundam Unit 7 is a pretty solid all rounder general. It gets two melee weapons, good stagger accumulation, decent DPS and the ability to follow-up on staggers with a short cooldown insta stun grenade launcher, meaning it at least on paper has the ability to handle any situation. It has poor HP but I think that is pretty fair considering the great walking speed, it can play like Alex/Tristan/Gundam MK-II and avoid taking damage just by positioning itself correctly. The only real drawbacks that it has would have to be the poor turning speed and the awkward dual saber animations. In both of these matches I had to equip field motors to compensate for this weakness, otherwise it would be really awkward to track enemies or aim that downswing. If they do change anything I think they could drop the cooldown time on the dual sabers and increase the turning speed to 66, but it might not be needed, it feels like a pretty good suit to me if played well.     My favorite part is when you killed 2 engaged a 3rd was back attacked by a 4th, only to kill it, THEN get engaged by a 5th while you're entire team jumped a single unit just outside the water.
    That's the authentic gbo2 experience right here folks.

    One of my favorite suits at 500. Been running it since it dropped and don't regret it. That Engage Zero really had it out for you. Took it real personal in that match lol.

    Fantastic play in the first, love how well you compensate for the lag as to never get caught by dodgy rolls or tackle!

    You seemed to be having some latency issues in both matches, and I think perhaps stick drift? You made the suit look magnificent, though.

    I came to same conclusion when the PG released, that it was essentially this turned to 11 when this suit was already taking over everything the MKII does and is more than capable of fighting at midrange.
    If anything, I agree a little more turning speed might be necessary, just to get to the 63ish mark that shooty generals have at 450-500. You don't really want to activate EX Boost just for the turn speed when it's better saved for damage, survival, or basically being a short exam-like ability once you start chaining melee attacks. Maybe let it (and quite a few other suits) hold it's shield like ReGZ or ReGZ Custom that actually protect themselves no matter what what you walk or boost, and almost fully cover themselves when backing up or crouching.
    And Lv1 or 2 leg shock absorption. I know they're supposed to be fragile as a weakness on this, but there is a fair amount that can take them out before you do much at all, though BB almost always tries to remedy that with HP when it doesn't need more bulk when it's so great at not getting hit. I'd say let EX Boost 3 heal 25% of your legs or something, but that could easily bleed into something that gets the skill next (or a buff to an existing unit) and create something strong that can easily fix undo any crippling it gets, which could be worse in space where back damage often feels like mostly luck but is hard enough to hit that you should be basically a turret until you die or repair.
    This is on my growing list of units I want but somehow haven't gotten since I whale and play a little less. There's quite a few if them for me, but it's always happy to give me another Sisquiede or one of a few others over even a few 2* units I haven't gotten in months.
    But I've accepted my fate, and also that I'm really playing badly lately due to impulsiveness and having the feelings like my suits have ways to win any situation, and usually MA at 500+. So I'm going to try Jegan (with the ranged frame and maxed enhancements) Zeta to get better acquainted with melee and less reliant of MA getting me in, Geara Zulu EH to remember how to hunt a support, not to get caught up in firefights for more than is needed as a raid, and less reliance if dodges, and whatever else you recommend. I have the majority of the suits in the game, but only about 65% at native costs in the last 4-5 months. My missing 4* units are PGTB, both Narratives, Traversia (sadly I REALLY wanted it, as it's a favorite design and fast shooters are exactly what I like to use, bonus for funnels or power up modes), HWS , and Oberon if I'm recalling correctly. All the others are Lv2 versions that just bombard me with their weapons when I try my luck.
    I'd really appreciate some suggestions. Basically anything from 450-650 would be preferred, without 550 at until that's sorted better, but I understand if you'd say to play 300-400 to learn more fundamentals, where the new Agguys, Aggjin , and Gundam Marine are most of what I do well in with very few slight exceptions. Like, should I play GM Corvette Booster just to learn to be a delicate flying target and to hit and run in a timely manner and decent place to land?
    I want to keep playing, but I feel I hit a skill ceiling as t lower A+ where I'm not doing well, my team doesn't like me, but it seems being a good at being a diversion has just allowed my teams so squeak by wins when I'm last place. I feel bad. And would take any advice from a player like you seriously, even if it was playing 350 Zaku I until I was good at it, lol.

    I just got back from a decent hiatus and I have to ask...what happened to the balance team? Did they quit? Because holy crap is everything out if whack. We're back to the days of one mistake in a one on one ends you and i did not miss those times. Only now its coupled with a bunch of suits that are almost impossible to stagger. We at least had that defense in GBO1.
    I agree on this suit, though. I can dance with the G07 no problem and a single screw up doesn't end you for the next half minute.

    At 5:16 what even staggered you? I no one was facing you and I dont see anyone on the map even looking your direction

      There is a spot near the base on top of some crates, if you sit there you have a clear view down into the basin I was in. I think their Sniper II was up there.

    This is my favorite suit in 500 Cost and have it upgraded to 6-step and using the Composite Type A and it's a beast.
    My only complaint is that the Bazooka option it has should be an exclusive one, not the basic one that MS as low as 100 Cost use.

    A really good ranged kit wasted on a melee suit, many 500 or even 550 ranged generals would wish they had this kit (with the BR and not the bazooka)
    They should really stop doing this (Jegan D comes to mind, where again they gave a really good ranged kit a ton of melee boost for no reason)
