She inspires people for two reasons: joy and happiness. The old definition of happiness was "the excellence of doing what you're made to do." She's made to play the drums, and she's put in the practice to develop her skills. Watching anybody doing such a thing (using their God-given abilities to their upmost) is inspirational--but on top of that, she's joyful doing it.
This girl has a piece of my heart. There IS hope for the planet after all.
She gives me hope for the future
She is an embodiment of joy.
I recall listening to a Japanese interview with her, and the question came up did mommy and daddy introduce you to Led Zeppelin? To my surprise, no she had been flicking between channels when she suddenly came across a Led Zep track and the sound of the drums just jumped out to her. So really it was just natural.
For that comment from somebody about yellow: yellow is: smile, happyness and joy of life , that what Yoyoka is
Yoyoka's got 2 new videos. One with an all kid band playing "The Ocean" recorded in Vegas and another SPARKLING a professional video aimed at her.
Thanks for the reaction. It is always good to see your reactions to Yoyoka. I am a huge Yoyoka fan.
You've got to check out her personal video Utopia such a professional touch it is very good you will like it
Yoyoka Soma is such a remarkable drummer. I have watched a few other covers by her and am always amazed at how talented she is and also love seeing how much fun she has during the performance. Her coordination is amazing!
Great, albeit unexpected, reaction! You had me smiling the entire time. Your comment about no way that you weren't going to do the reaction cracked me up. Cheers.
Yoyoka is a drum goddess 🥁
Please consider reacting to:
"Put Me Thru"
"YYZ"
"Speed King"
Thanks, I really enjoy your channel ❣️
I guess you mean 'Speed _King'_ ? I second you! I've put the links in my comment to make it even easier.
Yes - Sorry!
You rock dude thanks for covering Yoyo we love her
You are smart, serious and sincere. Your voice is very pleasant to hear. I like to see you reacting to Yoyoka's covers. And above all, your series with Led Zeppelin is great. That's why I signed up... keep up the great work! Greetings from Kobe Japan
(By the way: Yoyoka was praised by Jimmy Page for her cover of Heartbreaker...)
Some of the dislikes are casual visitors who think her parents must have pushed her into this, which is totally not the case.
One of the things you have to take into consideration was that, even at a young age, when she was seven, she made the claim that she wanted to become the best drummer in the world and that she wanted to be able to play drums all over the world. People make many statements as to what they could do or might do, but she was on the top 500 drummer list when she was 11. This list includes only 12 other females and the rest are men. She is the best under 21 female drummer in the world. There are only a few which have a broader skill set than she does and that would be because of age. I would say that there are only two women out there who are not necssarily 'better' than Yoyoka, but more skilled and that would be Senri Kawaguchi and Miki Tsunoda. Miki is a highly underrated drummer and it is difficult to understand why she is not on the top 500 drummer list. Yoyoka has covered songs by both of these women, Onyx by Senri Kawaguchi and I am the Storm by Miki Tsunoda.
But Yoyoka Soma has consistently been putting her money where her mouth is when it comes to delivering what she says she wants to accomplish. Besides being one of the best drummers in the world, she may have not drummed her beat all over the world as of yet, but she has already accumulated a number of decals to put on her luggage.
Another positive, respectful reaction. Great job sir. Watching Yoyoka with her lovely family and friends fills me with joy. IIRC 'Imigrant song' was her first Led Zeppelin cover. In 'Heartbreaker' it looks like she has a copy of Led Zeppelins 'How the West was Won'. I'd be excited too. She really shows her left-hand snare skills with delicious ghost notes enriching the groove. 😋 She has given us so much music to enjoy. 😂
Yoyoka performed two excellent covers of the classic rock _Grand Funk Railroad 'We are an American Band'._ She did a 'solo' cover at 9yo ruclips.net/video/Xc1N5gIelqs/видео.html, and a 'live band' cover (from her '12th Birthday session') ruclips.net/video/innvxmVbv9Q/видео.html
It _might_ be interesting to compare?
Reading the 'pullout' is a little 'cheeky', but I remember listening to vinyl LPs and poring over every inch of those. It was part of the experience. 😃 She always puts a smile on my face.
I second @Carla Lopez reaction suggestions:
_YYZ - Rush / Covered by Yoyoka_ ruclips.net/video/lGETWi1QufE/видео.html
_Anderson .Paak - Put Me Thru / Cover by Yoyoka_ ruclips.net/video/MJemsoga8gc/видео.html
_Deep Purple - Speed King / Covered by Yoyoka Soma_ ruclips.net/video/8SSQE_VZIRg/видео.html (must wait for the final kick drum)
I very much enjoyed the '12th Birthday session' cover of Deep Purple's 'Mistreated' ruclips.net/video/ghINDxGLcaY/видео.html Again her left-hand snare makes the groove almost buttery rich. Yum!
Her Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Jamiroquai, Radiohead and Peter Gabriel covers are superb too.
I guess she has good 'drummer genetics', comparable to great athletes, Her loving parents have the skills and intelligence to enable her to _Follow her Bliss._ An old (African) proverb says "It takes a village to raise a child". Yoyoka is living in that village, and the village is performing their parts with gusto. 👍🤘
If only we could provide many more of the 140million people born every year with that supportive environment. 🤔
------------- Off beat suggestion ---------------
Here's a suggestion for a very, very different 'sound of Rock': 'The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain' ruclips.net/user/UkuleleOrchestra.
They are exactly as the name implies, the only other 'instrument' is singing. Think of them as two steps beyond MTV's 'Unplugged' concerts; no drums, or any instrument except ukulele. They are a little 'tongue in cheek', joyous, great musicians and clever arrangers. It might bring a different feel to familiar songs.
Songs to consider are:
_Heroes_ (David Bowie) ruclips.net/video/0zCdwBqfmYA/видео.html
_Smells Like Teen Spirit_ (Nirvana) ruclips.net/video/Z680nUcxlLc/видео.html
_Highway to Hell_ ruclips.net/video/F5-z1c-9QmE/видео.html
_Psycho Killer_ (Talking Heads) ruclips.net/video/dKpzCCuHDVY/видео.html
Also
_Should I Stay Or Should I Go_ (The Clash) ruclips.net/video/fuaLdWhnCag/видео.html
_Born To Be Wild_ ruclips.net/video/sVv7C2mCNA0/видео.html
_Misirlou_ ruclips.net/video/cH70_ygYEZk/видео.html
The goal is to 'play outside of the box' and bring smiles and joy to familiar, well-loved songs.
Of course, it's only a suggestion. I don't expect you to do it. I don't even have a concrete idea what might result.
Nice presentation 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
It was Robert Plant that did the reaction. Never saw Jimmy Page. Her triplets are unreal.
Really enjoyed your King Diamond reactions! Can you go back to the King and react to "The Graveyard".
Stay safe! \m/
