The keychain is a great trick for building combos.
As your string tricks get more sophisticated, make sure you have the right tools for the job. We recommend getting a yoyo that can play both responsive and unresponsive, like the Sage Starter Pack:

Yes, the string will wrap around your finger as it spins.
It is, but it may be a bit too advanced for some players if they have never used a ball bearing yoyo before. If you have not tried a bearing yoyo it may be better to go with the Luminator Advanced Kit, which is the yoyo we use in this video. You can get it on the YoTricks website.
We have videos on pretty much all the standard mounts. If you go to YoTricks.com and look in the YoYo Trick menu, and then go to Trick Set section and select Mounts you will see all the videos where we teach mounts.
I have been using the Loop 360 a lot lately, and I think it is the best yoyo for getting into looping currently available. We have the Loop 360 on YoTricks if you want to take a look.

That is the snap wind, we have a video where we teach how to do that.
The Luminator is no longer being made, so I do not know if you will be able to find one anymore. On our website we have replaced it with the YoTricks Edition ONE yoyo. This yoyo plays very similar to the Luminator and it nearly the same price as well.

In this video I am using the Luminator yoyo setup with the Advanced Kit which you can get on the YoTricks website.
In most of our videos (including this one) we let you know what yoyo we are using so if you like a particular trick you can see what yoyo we are using :)

As long as a yoyo is spinning it should come back up when you pull it. If that is not working for you I suggest you check out our video

I have not tried that yoyo, but the easiest bind should work on almost any yoyo.
@BuNzOfStEEL61 I'm not sure what you mean when you say the string twists together, but, the spin is most likely dying because when you spin the yoyo on the keychain you are not keeping the spin in line with they groove of the yoyo. If you spin the yoyo around your finger off axis then the string will push against the side of the yoyo and slow it down dramatically. If you spin the yoyo around your finger in line with the groove of the yoyo it should not slow the spin down at all.

It has been discontinued. If you have never yoyoed before I would suggest the Fast 201, if you have yoyoed a little before then the Velocity is a great option. We have both on the YoTricks website.
It is easier to have a wide yoyo, especially a yoyo with a bearing. The Duncan Butterfly does not have a bearing, which can make it difficult to learn tricks.
i like mixing this trick with the barrel rolls. after you have done half a lap of barrel roll you are in the split bottom mount. so you can do a few rolls than release your hand and do a few key chain spins (:
It is a good yoyo for learning the basics and how to loop, but for string tricks you should consider a ball bearing yoyo like the Velocity.

I took a look at your channel and it looks like you have some pretty great tricks down. We are currently not looking for any more team members, though.
If you land the yoyo on the opposite string during the Split Bottom Mount, when you spin it you can go straight into a bind

x GeneralGriffin Yes! A few times normal speed then slow motion with a voiceover. Checkout the DVD Yomega Mania. You can play all tricks in a slow motion loop for literally as long as you want.

I usually just wait and feel for the yoyo to hit to top string and then let go, so if I miss it all doesn't go flying and I can try again faster without having to do the trick over

Hey so I bought the shutter that you guys recommended and it works GREAT! My only question is what string material would you guys recommend for this yoyo and how can I tell if the strings are made out of that material (or combination of)?

How do you keep the string from touching the inside of the yo-yo? This is the only problem I have. The string touches the inside and just kills the spin.

Whenever i do a sleeper my yoyo would just spin around and it just ruins everything help please? Also when im doing the easiest bind which finger do i pull?
Vortech gaming As your throw improves the yoyo will spin to the side less. In the mean time turn your body with the yoyo so that you can see the gap of the yoyo as you attempt tricks. For the easiest bind you pull your yoyo hand up.

I have a question. What's a good yoyo brand that I can buy? I'm a beginner but I would love to learn from your videos and also I'm trying to get a butterfly yoyo. Should I get an XL one or just a regular one? If so what brand? Hopefully I can get an answer from someone :/ great videos by the way :)

I have not tried this trick with a 720. That yoyo is designed for looping, so I doubt it is very good for string tricks like this.

This trick does take a while to get down, so be patient with yourself, and soon it will seem simple.
So I've gotten decent at this trick can hit it like 4/5 times. So a problem I'm having is whenever I do the last part, where you reverse it and throw it forward, it just doesn't work and goes flying off without snapping back to my hand. It comes off crooked and just kind of twists on the end of the string
What kind of yoyo are you using?

My guess is that if it is coming off crooked that just means that you are not keeping the yoyo in the same plane as the keychain. If it is not snapping back, that is most likely because the Maverick is not quite as responsive as the yoyo we used in this tutorial.

hey yotrick i bought a dash yoyo unreponsive kit and now after about a month it started to ct responsive help plz i tried lubing the bearing changing the string and making sure the string was on the bearing
If a bearing is not lubed for a whole month, it may start to brake down and become responsive. Sometimes adding some thin lube can fix this. Sometimes the bearing is too far gone to be fixed.
On the other hand, lubing a bearing will often cause it to play slightly responsive temporarily. With a little use the lube will thin itself out and if that is the problem it will become unresponsive again.

@GujuPrnz your using the wrong type of yoyo for this trick. Yomega raider is an imperial yoyo. and not meant for string stricks. you need a butterfly yoyo for string tricks. and as to why your yoyo is *tilting*, it is prob because your string is too tight. OR your throw isnt straight. Hope this helped.

+yotricks lets talk about both. I watched your other videos, I'm just not quit sure I understand everything yet.
If the yoyo is spinning then the way we get it back is we give it a little tug. This works because the yoyo is spinning fast, and the yoyos we use are responsive.

How do you do that
When I was learning this trick a while ago, it came off my finger and hit me in the face. And I was throwing a DV88, thats a metal yoyo. I had a black eye and couldn't see for a long time.
