This reinforces my suspicion that Andy had a "x for you, one for me" deal with SNL, where he made conventional-ish funny songs and videos for them as long as they let him do something super weird every now and then.
He actually spent 3 mil making this, showrunners had no choice

what? he has a band called the Lonely Island, and all these are their songs. Idk how he convinced SNL to make music videos for him, but it wasnt SNL going "well if you act normal, you cant write a weird song" It was part of that entire era

@@thecorrectoification Exactly, I think these people just haven't seen any old comedy music videos. Weird Al has been making similar songs like this since the 80s. There were also many comedy movies from that time like "Airplane" and "Monty Python" that had absurdist humor in them.

The next time you really saw abstract and absurdist stuff being messed with was the 80's with the new SNL players like Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Robert Smigel and later as that stuff evolved into the young people at Adult Swim like Tim and Eric or the people behind Space Ghost or ATHF. Now, we call it "Gen Z" humor or "internet" humor but its really just a natural progression from those early experiments with multimedia comedy.

Back in my day the only way you could see this skit on youtube was if it was flipped and had a filter slapped on to try and trick youtubes copyright detection which never, ever worked.

Disappointed we are in the Olympics now and I see no comments in July 2021. Also, it baffles me that something will happen with the world or the olympics from now till 3022, as it is not an Olympic year with current count.

This is my favorite Lonely Island song of all time. Jokes aside they did capture the desperate passion of trying to be the best. That last line always got me.
