“Da Capo” literally means “from the top.” That always reminds me of hearing “take it from the top” during aerobic exercise! (Therefore, that means to repeat the beginning of that portion of the workout!) As for “Dal Segno,” I think “Il Segno” is supposed to be a combination of the “repeat the previous measure” symbol and the letter “S” which probably stands for “Segno.”
I have a piece of music that's two lines. At the end of the first line, it says "fine" AND has an repeat sign. At the end of the second line it says "D.C. al fine". How is it played with a repeat sign at the same place as the fine? (there is no start repeat sign)
Does the word "Fine" have to be at the end of a measure? I'm writing out some music where I want to repeat a section with D.C. al Fine except I don't want the very last note played on the repeat. I was thinking about putting "Fine" in the middle of the last measure but I'm not sure I've ever seen that before. Perhaps I need to use a coda instead? Seems like that would be overkill for only one note.
Great video! Thanks for posting it.

Thanks! you're awesome
What if the music has a first and second ending after the S? Do you just play it until the fine but use the first and second endings? Thank you
Is this a true answer or false?.
Where should the double bar lines be ?
The double bar lines are written at the end of the music piece, but *also* when you write your "fine" and the "coda" too.
Thank you
