@@macleadg because the solid body E-violin picks up every single scratch or scrape that the acoustic tends to even out with it’s internal resonance as long as you play the E-violin through a clean audio channel with no effects applied. This will produce a typical piezo squak but aside from that, the bow noises come through loud and clear… IMHO
I really liked the Barcus Berry Vibrato electric violin, to my ears it had a very musical tone to it, kind of like the violin tone that you would hear being used for a classical piece by JS Bach.
May I ask a important question? I plan to buy electric violin and I just wanna sound clear and good in terms of intonation even though I wont play weIl. So I wonder which violins r more forgiving for bad technique or wrong intonation? Which violin hides intonation or bow technique mistakes more and gives least scratchy sound inspite of bad technique? a) acustic+ electric ones? b) hollow body/bodyless electric ones? c) fretted hollow body:bodyless electric ones? d) midi violins? My guess is this-> if midi violins can turn sound to any instrument and since other instrument dont have scratchy sounds, does it mean it ll have best midi violin sound (for bad players) and also does bodyles - only electric violins has more forgiving and clear sound (for bad players) than acustic+ electric ones (like Glasser AE )since acustic-electric has strong acustic sound strenghtened with electrical sound making intonation mistakes more visible? So the degree of forgiving/hiding bad intonationis like this: midi > only electric > acustic+electric > acustic ?
@ Ohh okay thank you. i just asked to understand because i saw some people said it does in the comments and also in beginner progress videos beginner sounded better after switching to electric violin then sounded bad again after switching back to acustic in their progress
Hello, just a quick question about amps which is slightly unrelated: For an acoustic viola with a KNA pickup would you recommend a Boss Street Cube 2 amp? I’m looking at that one, the Fishman mini, and a few others. I’m mainly looking for something for busking in an outdoor setting so I don’t need anything loud enough for a rock or metal gig, but I still do need some noise. Also battery power is ideal and the lighter the better. Thank you so much for your help!
Maybe we should not compare, But just for knowledge sake. ---- Remember we are not comparing "Cello" and "Guitar". ----- Guitar vs Violin: Which one do you think is more powerful?

violin testing timestamps:
4:14 Aurora Auro
4:34 Aurara WS
4:53 Barcus Berry Vibrato (plugged in)
5:09 (unplugged)
5:28 Gewa Novity 3.0
5:45 NS Design WAV
6:05 Wood Violins Stingray
6:23 Yamaha Yev
*Man, I’m an NS guy myself, own two WAVs but man, that YEV sounded magical to my ears! 💜 Heavenly*
Thanks for your work Matt! 🙏
FWIW, as an adult beginner, I found that practicing with my YEV without any effects actually helped with improving my tone on my acoustic violin.
Interesting! Why do you think that is?

@@BIGTREESJOE Great insight; thanks!
It was great to hear the comparisons. It helps my son hear all the differences.
So awesome how they all sound different!!
Thank you for this great video. I can hear the differences.

Love my YEV 104, saving up for a Strikell!

Uh... garbage in = garbage out. There's really no way around that. No violin is going to hide bad intonation.

I’m lusting between the GEWA 3.0 and the Aurora Auro.
And a Stingray.
Hey, I have the YEV104 and am looking for a advanced electric violin now. Could you make a review of advanced electric violins ?

It's not a bad amp. The Fishman Mini and the Bose S1 Pro are also excellent. They all sound different, but they all sound good.
Class comparison.
The Aurora WS seemed to sound the warmest and most natural. To my ear anyway
Could you make a video testing the TC Electronic Quintessence Harmonizer pedal?
We don't carry TC Electronic, so I won't have one sitting around.
ns design wav, nice sound
I think it's all pretty cool
Do you ship to UK bro?
Absolutely. And 90 other countries.
If Mark O'Connor uses a four string, then I'd say a four string is enough for me.
If you want to sound like Mark O'Connor, then get a four string. And practice A LOT.
I want to here defont electric violin
