Guys, just a warning. Learn about trading, learn about technical analysis, and come up with trading systems before you do this. If you just open up a wizard, slap on a few indicators/parameters and then "optimize" for best hindsight values without any idea of what the actual technical patterns are in price movements, you're going to come up with trash. But with the right understanding, and maybe some programming skill, this stuff is very very powerful. That's not to say backtesting optimization can't be useful, it's just that you can take any amount of historic data and bruteforce a bunch of different combinations of trade trigger/management parameters and always come up with something that works best on that data set, but it won't work well in the future if it's just a dumb optimization like that. It has to be based on something that actually is a technical pattern in the markets which is why you need to learn this stuff first.

@@arun_thoma5 Probably. But the problem is, optimization can actually require a shitload of computer power/time unless it's on limited data sets or very simple and few parameters to change. So without first crafting some kind of technical understanding/edge to begin with, if nothing is being done but brute force testing, expect to be doing weeks/months/years of optimization to come up with some solid results, unless you get lucky. Even then, you got to interpret those results and make sure you apply the parameters for the right reasons. Sometimes something seems to work but a flaw ends up coming out in action.
I believe the most robust approach is to start with understanding/studying technical patterns, and then work into automating testing/building statistics/implementing that. However, going the opposite way, pure testing, can be an avenue to gleaning insight as well, and may even be a way to come up with completely new, revolutionary analytical methods. But it will likely be highly laborious and long of a process. To be fair though, so is doing it the other way.

My Mt4 does not have the Expert Advisor (generate) column. How is that???? it has only (template). Dowloaded another mt4 version and still does not show the (generate) function.

@@muganzitunanuke9890 No, I abandoned the idea because the backtest of the oscillators constituting the strategy was inconclusive. And follows me redirected to another much more relevant strategy and delegated the design of this one because I have limited programming language skills.

on each bullish candle close a position will be open.

Very nice video unfortunately when you run this in the tester, it doesn't work properly. On top of some parameters of the indicators can't be modified. I run into errors like not enough money when there is money, there is a total disconnectiontion between the free margin in the account and the free margin that the program thinks it exists. The problem with metatrader is that nobody know what is the tester or libraries doing behind the curtains. I manage to do better bots than these and while the scripts has all the fail-safe features, for some reason behind the curtain the program decides to take money from the balance during backtest without any order being executed or pending, or applies leverage randomly to some trade. Very odd behaviour.
