Fantastic purchase! After I finish with my projects, I will definitely come to volunteer in helping you renovate this cute hotel! House by house, the Ghost Town will be yours, Jasper! Congratulations!
The way the rooms are divided, the bottom floor, was planned to be storage for fruit, vegetables and for wooden chests/freezers with meat and so on, you need to spread potatoes and other things when you harvest them preferably in a darker (colder) room(s). Even in the old days, bathrooms were not built near anykind of cattle, also the rooms are to small for goats/chickens/pigs wich are the typical animals that people have in the area. Here's some ideas for your thoughts Open the right rooms turning them into 1 nice space/bedroom, if you use them as they are with bunkbeds, as you said, your guests, will not have space to put their things in there. Replace the door in the first floor with a window, add a window to the bathroom and the room in the right. I think a stair or balcony will lower the natural light to the bottom floor, the sun does rise on the front, but the afternoons make it a dark floor as the sun moves to sunset. The price is amazing even in a "abandoned" town, a nice steal, you didnt have to pay an inflated price and the owner didnt have to pay brookers fees, less complications and fast deal, hope the rest of the houses go the same way.
Perhaps you could ask your viewers to send you ideas/drawings/floorplans, maybe make a contest of it. If you can purchase the property between the “hotel” and the shed at some point, you could make something really nice
A nice purchaise! You may take away some walls and encrease the rooms. Now they look as the chambers for inocs. A good way to have a spacy room on the second floor is to cut the corridor, to make 2 shower/toilet rooms upstairs... You may think about all replanning in due time. The small room adjacent to the stairs may be a utility room with washing and drying machines. With such approach you may have a small inn with 4 rooms and facilities. Good luck !
I am into this idea: A concrete slab across the front the width of the balcony and for the supporting structures of the balcony and its roof. On the ground floor two windows onto the street. to let lots of light in. Fill the bottom veranda area in with fancy iron work so you can swing a large ornamental fronts gate and fill it on both sides with lots of hanging plants. Is there a way to that small back area with the gate you can see from the window? Access out the back would be great for possible car parking.( next purchase ;) Congratulations!
Ah, congratulations, the deal went thru, You had mentioned in a previous vid that you were working on getting that property also. A good thing about owning the properties around you is that you know WHO your neighbors are. I had thought of a Youth Hostel, for back packers, and anyone that comes to visit to help out. At this point you could teach how to do the things you have been doing to your place, I am in the U.S. and this is the first time I have even seen what you have to go thru on buildings like that. I would think that others might think to get their hands into it too. A whole world of possibilities could be opening to amazing results. Best Wishes.
10K is definitely a bargain, I have seen another cottage for 10k a couple of miles away and it doesn't have a bathroom or toilet and most of the roof is collapsed!
Awesome purchess.. If you wanna have an working bathroom cheap, you could let you connect it to water again and like your home now, slam some solarpanels on the roof with an battery on them. This way you have an second powered house in the town and also nice camera position from there is youve power there. I would say, simple, but effective and relative cheap. Atleast youve an working bathhouse in the town for all your guests. Cheers buddy, as allways, you will make it something beautifull of it at the end! 🤗
Those small rooms can be used as mini rooms with the bare necessities for budget sensitive travelers. If you’re cycling cross country with only panniers and a fold up tent a small room like this is a mansion. Bigger than some van remodels. Hey how about a small social room or balcony/patio for coffee/tea making services. Shoot the breeze together.
I would put patio doors on the front downstairs with kitchen and bathrooms, laundry, etc. then have 4 beds upstairs. And in the summer the guests can sit out in the street….like many Mediterranean places…..😁
I think this house is a great buy. With very little work you can rent it out. It has a working bathroom and kitchen plus an extra lu upstairs. Too bad it has no garden, because even a small one would be great, but still a very good purchase, much better than the other one you just bought. I dont know how you can improve the stairs, that is a little iffy, but all in all a great purchase. Congrats !!!
My guess is that house was a tipical portuguese house with the animal stables in the bottom and living area in the 1st floor. Also i think the house had an outside stairs to the 1st floor from the start
Love your ideas on that new purchase, and yes, I absolutely think the price was good. Also is a nice thought to turn it into a mini hotel. Second floor looks in good condition. First floor, as you stated, is going to need some work to get it up to par for use, but there is always time later for that later.
Good on you, I can see the vision, great future proofing for the long term viability of your U Tube Channel. My only immediate concern is that top front door, however I am presuming it's securely locked .
since the bottom is old construction it have had a small stable and cantina with the residence on top, thats how most places in Italy and some in Spain are made , a cantina is what they call a dirty kitchen usually in the cellar of the house , thats where all the sauces are made and sausages and cheese are aged and dried even herbs and wines so the good kitchen doesn't get dirty
Thanks for showing us your new property . does not seem large enough to be a hotel but I wish you all the best of luck worth cash tho personally I'd put supports up to open downstairs to two large bedrooms and open plan apartment upstairs
The house does not look like it uses much power so for a temporary solution you could wire up one of your power banks to the distribution panel to add free power to the house. You could also keep water in a container and just pour into the toilet for occasional use without needing to pay to connect the water. It would be more like camping but you would at least get some use out of it until you had time to renovate.
Wat een bofkont dat je dit zo goedkoop heb kunnen kopen ,het kan een prachtig hoteltje worden ,of mischien beter een B&B daar zijn geen regels voor ,een hotel brengt veel regels mee .leuk project Jasper
A good bargain Jasper. To get some outside space could you remove a section of the roof upstairs to make an outside terrace on the first floor in one quarter of the building?
It seems that the house was 2 individual houses maybe with a stairs on front to 1st floor and later they open the floor from r/c that's why they not remove the Barre on the stairs I think the meter on front is part of the house on the back you may have some issues since you cannot have windows over the neighbors you may need to buy the rear house was a fair price you need to open the front windows and make a "varanda" in front you can support it on the outside floor since it seems that the first floor on top is T concrete with special bricks
if the electric and water were connected to that bathroom, you could open a hostel and trade work for room rent, you need to buy the ruin next door for a mini garden and parking space...that kitchen layout must be the winter kitchen, warm your buns on the stove while you wash up at the sink, lol....I hope you plan on bringing a ladder to show us what is in the attic too
Out of interest, what happens with the sewage when there is no garden for a septic tank? Unless your village is already connected to mains sewage, but I can't see any drain covers. I'm only asking for reference as houses without gardens are common but mains sewage not so much.
What a bargain for 10,000 euro 👍 I guess you’re going to be in the Ghosttown for life. Love the plan for it being a hotel. How cool 😎 Insurance would probably be the killer though. I’d check all that out too
Nice bargain ! The uper floor is in a pretty good state, not so much to do...A hotel, would give you a lot of trouble, for such a small structure....A BNB, wouldn't be so much time consuming... Maybe putting down a part of the brick walls, they don't seem to be structural....a large space, with a small kitchenette at ground zéro, one room, and a dressing, for people to get rid with their stuff...Not very important, a garden, for people travelling...You just are in the middle of the countryside...if they feel the lack of vegetation, easy to go for a walk outside the village ! And with something so functional, it would be easy to have volunteers, if they do not own a bus, or a camper! Congratulations !
New 2 story, is very worth it! Hotel is a great idea, a revenue maker!!! Could it house some volunteer construction help? Regardless, good purchase Jasper!
Cool another house become salvaged. When your done. Rename the town to Salvador? Hi Jesper anytime you make a door. Make it higher if possible 210 cm high opening?
The upstairs look a lot better than the downstairs. Very tiny rooms on the ground floor, and basically no light comes in. But of course you could change that with some work. And i guess, as a house, with 1 or 2 persons you could easily live upstairs. And use downstairs for storage.
Regarding the 10K house, the stairs to the first floor certainly need to be made more comfortable (shorter rise, and wider plus a railing ) for use as hotel rooms or as a B&B. A kitchen on the ground floor, plus dining and lounge with 1 bedroom seems to be the best use as a B &B for families to visit the ghost town.
Wow.. the upper floor is not so bad.. I guess the bottom could have been an Adega before.. lots of things to consider..😂.. I laugh because you have so very many things to consider all over the town.. I’m looking forward to,as I’m sure everyone else is, to getting to see your own house finished… the hotel is going nowhere , and will wait quietly till you are fully ready. Cheers Friend 💕💕
Tell us what your plan is overall with the village. Do you want to own all of it eventually? Do you want to turn it into something that makes money for you? When will you start to employ some help so you can move on these properties and see the results sooner? This house seems to be a great deal, especially if the roof is in good repair.
I don't think there were any windows on the ground floor, Jasper, look at the brickwork on the inside and you will see that it was impossible for this.
Nice one, Jasper. That there house in a popular town would set you back at least €100k. Imagine the profits when ghost town becomes a metropolis. Just hope you remember which floor you're on and don't walk out of the wrong door! Intriguing stairs, you say. I say rustic😂 Looking forward to seeing what you do with the place (hotel da aldeia da fantasma)👍
Bunk beds🤣 Great vision. Seems like there is not a lot of building compliance in Portugal given the low and no windows, stair, no upstairs escape and no external space?
fab bargain i'd say. could you divide it into 4 studio apartments or what we brits call a bed sit. which is a complete living quarters ibn each section. then rent each one separately. so if there's 4 friends on holiday they get there own space but also are near each other

I wont b surprised if u also dont open a doctirs room there too mayb a supermarket to follow😂
Count me also in to be volunteer. What a great project ❤ (already did that website thingy but no mail back yet)
Lol
Nice. A Ghostel.
😂 I see what you did there.
🎯❤️it!

An excellent bargain and with lots of potential as you build Jasperville.
The insanity continues... but we're all behind you. You should get a community master plan and some volunteers
Well done another piece on the Monopoly board lol
Perhaps you could ask your viewers to send you ideas/drawings/floorplans, maybe make a contest of it. If you can purchase the property between the “hotel” and the shed at some point, you could make something really nice
Congratulations on your new building!! That’s a fantastic deal!! 👍🏻
just remember MR. Ghost town Mayer when one door closes another one opens congrats on the great deal. good way to start out the new year
Congratulations Jasper, Ghost town hotel is an excellent idea. I'm very happy for you. Xx😊

A great buy!!! Well done! With all the sweat equity you put into it, it will be a gem. ❤
Looking at the size of the rooms, it would be a great spot for the 'Ghost Town Prison'. 🙂 So, better behave You all!

I like it, those small rooms can be used as closets, pantry’s, storage. I think when done you should paint it a bright color outside

Absolutely brilliant. 🎉🎉🎉, a staircase on the outside leading to the lofty front door, that got real potential. Cheers
My guess is that house was a tipical portuguese house with the animal stables in the bottom and living area in the 1st floor. Also i think the house had an outside stairs to the 1st floor from the start
Yes, and as such, might not need planning permission to reinstate the stairs

First floor, as you stated, is going to need some work to get it up to par for use, but there is always time later for that later.
Yes it is a good price, but sad it doesn't have a garden, no doubt that's the reason for the price. (plus all the renovations needed!)
Jasper your are a goer - doer. Great example of what one person can acheive.
Congratulations on the new house 🥳🥳🥳
The first floor with no windows is strange. Congratulations Jasper happy Monday.💙🎉🦋😊
Ghost Town Inn!! Very nice congrats!!
That was a great price.!!!! Your gonna make it look great!! Congratulations!! It's going to need a lot of windows.
Good on you, I can see the vision, great future proofing for the long term viability of your U Tube Channel. My only immediate concern is that top front door, however I am presuming it's securely locked .
Cool place! I will come over for a week to help you on projects!
Awsome ❤congrats🎉🎉🎉
Good evening !!! 🌹🌹🌹🌹 I am glad to see you smiling again !!!
10 G..what a bargain Casper😊..all needed nice rope on stair wall

Fascinating. Just subscribed to your channel! I am from Malaysia by the way but I have been to Portugal and love the country.

You have got yourself a bargain there Jasper A few days of rendering and windows fitting is not outside of your skills you have done well.
A good bargain Jasper. To get some outside space could you remove a section of the roof upstairs to make an outside terrace on the first floor in one quarter of the building?

Congratulations Jasper 🎉 Great purchase!
Another property another triumph
Hello Jasper, a quick project would be to remove that red door and the rebar and replace it with a window and bricks. Would look much better.
Remove the common wall between the corridor and the main room, create a door from the room connected to the kitchen to the landing area above stairs.
Might be a legal responsibility to have fire escape door on second floor due to no back door
Out of interest, what happens with the sewage when there is no garden for a septic tank? Unless your village is already connected to mains sewage, but I can't see any drain covers. I'm only asking for reference as houses without gardens are common but mains sewage not so much.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a shared tank/cesspit with the neighbouring house

Bargain price Jasper, and a great project. 😊
I think it’s adorable ,you can make it funky with coloured tiles
Glad your yellow sunglasses are back!!
Looks pretty good and with some finishing touches it's ready to be lived in. And yes, it's was a good deal 😊
Nice one Jasper
What a bargain for 10,000 euro 👍 I guess you’re going to be in the Ghosttown for life. Love the plan for it being a hotel. How cool 😎 Insurance would probably be the killer though. I’d check all that out too
that and the fire safety regulations!

It will be a hotel 👻 not a B&B
I was thinking to join up 2 of the downstairs rooms and make a little dried goods food shop
Soon your own the whole town congratulations Jasper what's the name of your main Channel
That would be o hotel da aldeia fantasma, I think because town is technically a city, I believe.
ur like the flying dutchman of the cerro gordo dude :D
Wow.. the upper floor is not so bad.. I guess the bottom could have been an Adega before.. lots of things to consider..😂.. I laugh because you have so very many things to consider all over the town..

Good one, might be the best deal in the whole ghost town, just wondering what is your main channel called? Good job jasper 👍
4 small Balconies 4 sliding glass doors
Totally awesome and worth it on price 🎉🎉🎉
I don't think there were any windows on the ground floor, Jasper, look at the brickwork on the inside and you will see that it was impossible for this.
One big end to end wooden porch with flat roof gives you use of upstairs door for another walking area..great for morning sunshine.
Fantastic requisition! I’d come and stay at your little pension.
Seems like there is not a lot of building compliance in Portugal given the low and no windows, stair, no upstairs escape and no external space?
bit of work and that hotel front would be a smiley face rather than shocked 😁
fab bargain i'd say. could you divide it into 4 studio apartments or what we brits call a bed sit. which is a complete living quarters ibn each section. then rent each one separately. so if there's 4 friends on holiday they get there own space but also are near each other
the upstairs door is good for getting suff in and out - as the stair looks supertight - you could have a balcony that opens and a little winch - boa
Agree, surprised it did not occur to Jasper since he is from Holland and the ancient houses had hoists and large windows that opened to get furniture etc. in and out because the stairs of those 400 year old building were narrow.
Goed gedaan Jasper. 👍
you need more projects!
If you are buying most of the village up then Ten Grand is what you have to pay to get it. But that property four or five miles away I guess would be worth Seven maybe Eight Grand on a sunny day. As they say you are buying the dream they are selling a " whatever!" Good luck for keeping the dream alive the world needs more dreamers
Looking good 🎉
🎉 congratulations
No heating in any these buildings.
Congratulations fantastic bargain 👏 😀 👌
Hi Jasper, that is a very good price for the house, you could not buy a garage for that here in the Algarve.
They are called bunk beds Jasper with one on top of the other to save space.
Michael and Carol.
would love such a place to make it great again, think it is a good buy for you, some work, maybe connect 1 or 2 of the downstair rooms
now you are the mayor of your town
€10,000 not bad but with no garden....?, well, I wouldn't expect to pay any more and after all, you are attached to it and you do have a big garden elsewhere. The "plus" lies in the connections that are already to hand. The upstairs bathroom and rendered walls makes it worth while because there is not so much physical work attached to making it presentably livable. One has to ask one's self the Q. How long do you think you can keep on going physically, constantly putting yourself under intense pressure to get the job done. Too many irons in the Fire at one time leads to Burnout.
Very good idea, it will be a money maker.❤
make it a fritterie :D 🍟🍟🍟
Im a real estate especulator/investor my 1 impresion no more than 10k before you say the price no land in a village four me its a no but because you have all ready land in the village its a nother history
❤well done, working bathroom bonus❤
Not to shabby for that price
