    How about "bord" or "jord"? Does the rd combination make the o long?

    • @FunSwedish
      @FunSwedish  Год назад +3

      Great question! Yes. The kombination rd makes the r very soft. Almost like we dont say it so it kind of becomes like only 1 consonant coming after the o (since the r is quite silent) therefore the long o. Thanks for your question!!

    What about Malmö would it be a long O or short?

    • @FunSwedish
      @FunSwedish  10 месяцев назад

      Good question. Non of them since Ö is a completly different letter in Swedish but it would be a long Ö. So it sounds a bit like Malmöööö. Love these lessons, but long and short pronunciations are really drilled into the viewer a bit more than it should be. Maybe that’s just me, though; I’m a pretty fast learner.

      Happy you liked it. Some people are like you, fast learners and some needs a bit more repetition. Hard to please everyone but thanks for the feedback :)

    I should probably mention, just a heads up. We don't pronounce English opera that way, at least where I live. It's more ah-per-a.

    You never tell us how to pronounce an O with an umlaut over it- Oland! My father was born there but never taught us to speak Swedish. So, how do you pronounce Oland correctly? Tak!

      Hej! How nice that you have a Swedish father :)
      Are you refering to the island of Åland? or Öland? Anyhow, you should watch our video about the Å or the Ö to know better how these letters are pronunced.
