It's interesting how they recorded the cymbals hits by Chad on high speed, so when they play it in normal tempo, those cymbals will sound huge and deep.
Right! I've never ever thought of doing that! That's gotta be one of the many reasons why my music hasn't been heard lol.
Wasn't getting why they were doing that, thought it was them just joking in the studio
Also he's using Paiste cymbals! it's the first I don't see him using Sabian
@@lovefan7694 he Is now a paiste endorser
@@Brokenface :O no waaay
I always liked how Kiedis sings here more than the finished version
More soul
John nailed his verse on the first try then went and put his feet up in the control room.
These are Chad's feet actually..
@@vasilis1963 hahaha
@@vasilis1963 such a Chad move
Fuckin love this video, is a shame that they never put this song on the album
its a b side
@@ivenslui Yup, released on the Coneheads Soundtrack (John had already left by the time the music video was made hence why hes not in the video), then it was on the greatest hits album as well. Always loved this song and Breaking the Girl two very "John" typed songs that both take me back in time to 91-92 when I first heard them. Love the album and the time which it was released.
agreed. could have easily been track 1 on Blood Sugar Sex Magic
John explained in the interview with Rick Rubin that at the time the band felt like there were already too many mellow tracks on the album (Breaking The Girl, I Could Have Lied and Under The Bridge), so they decided to keep Soul to Squeeze off the record. John regretted this later, and I think the rest of the band too.
I used to agree, but.
Fast soul to squeeze is amazing
1:49 music + the images here make me feel such a warm affection and a special kind of nostalgia for this period of recording blood sugar....
Especially when you see john, chad and flea sitting there listening, images from the whole funky monks doc come flashing through my mind... a great feeling :D
Perfectly said! I wish they release all this footage cause I'd have no problem watching it all quickly
@@thetruth72667 Anthony wrote who filmed it in his book maybe fleas sisters husband. We should all find his social media and spam RELEASE UNEDITED FUNKY MONKS until we get it 😉
@@HakunaMatata-rq2gu I believe you are correct about who filmed it. What a book right! I read it a few times lol
3:46 fast Soul To Squeeze!

@@bboy113 because it’s a fucking jam man
Amazing watching the greatest song ever written
And to think it was recorded during BSSM sessions and not put on the album.
the passion they exhibit is amazing
Interesting to see how Anthony drag some words on the end of some verses, a different way of final version, wich I think is so much better.
Interesting seeing Chad get pissed at the cymbal that keeps folding backwards on him...and he just signed with Paiste lol
That bass..
Right? One of the greatest bass lines ever. I remember hearing this as a kid on MTV and being blown away, I would wait for it to come on everyday (pre-internet days).
Man, it’s ashame that there’s no footage of John recording his solo part😢
He don't like the bright lights and cameras
Guh! Right? I’d LOVE to see that
My fav song
1:58 john genuinely looks like he just got out of auschwitz
I appreciate all the work because I will always love this song.
The angels in my dream
Amazing footage
0:13 - That lick is very fast, hard to do in time.
facts
The key is to thump wrap the low E when you go back to that scrutched up chord after the hammer on. It gives you time to form the chord after you bang on the low E string.
@@NytronX you are talking about that part ( 5-7-5 (a string))?
I do the lick with the open D
It's official that the Chili Peppers invented nightcore
This was recorded in Rick rubin's mansion Lincoln Park is recorded there Audioslave Guns N Roses a whole bunch of people
yeah, it wasn't his at the time, but he was renting it a lot for recording purposes. Everyone from the band stayed there during the recording of the album, except for Chad, who thought it was haunted lol.
Simplemente hermoso!
Where did you find this ?? Is it in funky monks ?
While I appreciate a little extra Chad hitting symbols, I would much rather see footage of John working out his guitar parts.
does anybody know how are usually called those cymbals that Chad plays? I guess there must be another more specific name for cymbals that has got handles like those he plays
Those are called clash cymbals or orchestral cymbals 👍
this make a great dance song sped up
??? maybe if you're on bath salts or some shit lol
Wow
The base player is the MVP...
@3:48 sounds like music from the game Sonic. 😂👏🏼
😅😅😅😅 it really does
Is Anothony using a Shure SM7B here??
Yep
Oh Chad xDD
Where did you find these extended videos?
Tiago Xavier funky monks documentary. filmed while recording BSSM
no those are extended, longer then the real one relised (extra content)
Who was that woman?
Boca
Anthony is out of key.
He's always out of tune actually
@@frusciante_fan hey guys here comes the greatest singer of all time
@@bambu6742 thank you
Water is wet.
Nah, the key is out of Anthony. 😅
anthony kids before auto tune =P
I was gonna say that this is like the best argument you can give to a person who doesn't believe Anthony uses autotune xD
well, there has also been those 27 years spent singing on stage and in studio... you live you learn... ;) I am pretty sure that there is autotune on their studio recordings now, but not in their live shows, as you hear all of them go out of key here and there when they sing - but who fucking cares - still they're the best band ever and well - i'd rather have Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen's occasional out of key singing dense with deep emotion and meaning, instead of perfectly pitched soulless crap that is dominating the radios nowadays.
This was 1991, autotune wasn't invented until 1997.
Autotune did not exist back then. This is just one of MANY takes. Then they would cut the tape and place the best parts of each take he took and the final result is what you get. So no. No autotune. Just many takes until he had enough good takes to choose from.
@@kroogerdios lol definitely not auto tune auto tune is what you hear in futures or lil Wayne’s music(I like both) Anthony probably uses something more along the lines of melodyne. It correct off key notes without compromising your voice so you get a natural sound
Wow
