I heard Henryk play the Beethoven Concerto in that old, redoubtable opera house (torn down and replaced with new hall many, many years ago). It was a fantastic performance. Ah, the good old days when Seattle was a quiet, forgotten burg.

Mr Szeryng is a Great Violinist Forever such as Paganini, Pisendel, Joachim, Menuhin and so on. !
I prefer Paganini. I heard him once in Milano. It was wonderful! He played Alban Berg that night! Unforgetable
OMG what I would have given to be in that orchestra! I was a violist and played both solo parts of this (obviously the violin part on violin, even though I tried to re-write it for viola...not the best of my ideas... ;) ) But my favorite violinist and one of my favorite violists...OMG...

Nobody in the comments has so far mentioned that Szeryng seems less than comfortable with the brash American. Szeryng certainly has clear ideas about how the music goes and he's not going to be over-ruled! I've only seen the first part so far, so maybe it improves ...

Never liked Katim..Every orchestra violist today has higher standards and not so puffed up..Szeryng is at another level totally..professional ..modest.. intelligent and beautiful sound.
