My favorite known fact about the Thing and Doctor Doom: both are featured in the marvel zombies arc where Doom is infected but cannot be controlled by zombification and is only really involved because the infected spread to Latveria. The Thing is later featured as a younger version of himself and helps his companions prevent the infection from spreading to their universe and before leaving the zombie world gets into a fight with the hulk who's a zombie and beats him in one punch and states "I've always wanted to do that."
My favorite willpower moment has to be the end of Rock Lee vs Gaara. The concept of perseverance is so engrained in Lee's psyche that his body literally stands back up on a shattered leg with a shattered arm, mind you, WHILE UNCONSCIOUS, and it's not even played for hype. Gai breaks down in tears because he knows he's pushed his student too far and it's beautiful and sad, but also, HOLY SHIT knocking Lee out isn't enough to put him out of a fight. No one never gives up harder than my boi in the green unitard.
My favorite “will power” moment was in Terminator 2. Arnold tears his own arm off to keep fighting, gets his head smashed to bits then impaled with a spike. His eye powers down, he’s done. Latter we see his eye flashing, he re routes power and come back online. The way he grabs that spike and pulls it out as the music swells has always given me chills.

Hobbits aren't necessarily shit, the ring amplifies your greed and ambition. It basically is that devil on the shoulder that tries to manipulate someone into being evil for their ambitions and in doing so reveal themselves to sauron and all that jazz. But Hobbits are considered ambitious if they decide to move a bit further down the street than is normal, so the ring has nothing to grasp on to. That's how it was explained to me at least.
I think it's explained that Hobbits are the safest bet, because they are so weak in comparison to other races that all the One Ring can do is extend their lifespan and let them turn invisible. They can obviously still be corrupted by the One Ring, as demonstrated by the fact that Frodo backs out of tossing it into Mount Doom at the last moment because he couldn't bring himself to give it up, but it's a calculated risk
Brutalyte616 on the other hand, merely being in the presence of the ring corrupted some men while Frodo resisted it being next to his chest for the entire journey

The reason Frodo and hobbits in general were special is because unlike the other races the only thing they really wanted was a simple life. All the other races craved power, glory, knowledge, immortality, but the hobbits were perfectly content in their shire. Think of it this way Gandalf one of the most powerful beings in the lord of the rings universe couldn’t allow himself to even touch the ring. It had the power to corrupt even him. Gollum carries it while the ring was content to lay asleep biding its time. When Bilbo carries it the ring is still waiting for his masters call. But when Frodo carries it the ring is using all of its might and will to corrupt Frodo and to slow him down. Making itself heavier like a lead weight around his neck. For the brief time Sam held it he couldn’t believe how heavy it was. Sam was also special as only one of two beings to ever posses the ring and willingly give it up. But Frodo bore the full brunt of the rings power for the longest time. The movies tried very hard to convey how hard of a time he was having resisting the ring. Suffices to say that of all the characters in the story he was the only one that directly fought with Sauron for I think it was 2 years straight.
Dwarves are right there too actually, when the other 19 rings than the one were given to (Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die) the humans were easily corrupted by the rings, and the elves didn't really wear them because the elves Celebribor gave them to were known for their wisdom, but the Dwarven lords wore them, but were mostly unaffected for centuries thanks to their incredible stubbornness. The Thing is really under appreciated and I hope Dan Slott continues to give him the respect he deserves in the newly rebooted Fantastic Four comic.
I always liked the one in Deep Space Nine, when Worf was in a prison camp run by the Dominion. He was being used as a training tool to teach the Jem'Hadar to fight Klingons. The thing is with Frodo and Sam, Frodo had worn the ring for a long time(even though you get the notion in the movie it has only been a few days...) for years he has worn it through it all and in the end Frodo will is broken by the ring. Sam has worn it (for just a few weeks maybe) but is still strong in willpower then compared to Frodo who since then been a husk of his former self(cause the ring has been eating away at his soul. And dont forget he got stabbed by one of the ring wraiths and he has used it a couple of times). So that's why sam is able to thwart the rings influence at Mount Doom..
He has tried before. I forgot the outcome but the comic wasn't that great unless you really just want a comic to read. But I'm pretty sure that Thing has won most times.
One instance is the series Space Punisher it’s in a different universe or it’s a one off but the hulk is huge has four arms and naked? He went around killing everybody he killed the fantastic 4 and ripped off things arm off and beat Johnny storm to death with it and ate the Watchers no biggie

My favorite moment of "I could do this all day" is from the new season of The Punisher on Netflix. I believe it's either the last episode or second to last, when John Pilgrim and Frank are fighting and beating the shit out of each other, and they both are slow to get up, grab their weapons, Frank says "Need a minute?" Pilgrim replies "I was waitin' on you." I think Punisher is a pretty good example of willpower being a tangible superpower in the Marvel universe, because other than his training in the military the only thing that keeps him kicking ass is his willpower to annihilate, no matter how beaten and bloody he is.
@@spencerweil685 so you read past the part that says "from the new season of the punisher" and also kept going after "i believe its the last episode" and then still claimed spoilers. that's actually funny as hell.

I am 50 years old. I remember reading that comic book with the Champion of the Universe when I was 13 and I openly wept at Ben's force of will. Thank you for reminding me of that great story.
There is actually a great real-life example. When George Foreman was young, he flew up the boxing rankings by crushing everyone he fought. People argued about whether he had the hardest punch in boxing history. Ali watched a fight with Howard Cosell and told Cosell he could see a way to beat Foreman. What was the way? Ali protected his head and let Foreman bust up his body so badly Ali was peeing blood afterward. But late in the fight Foreman hit Ali hard in the head. Ali trash-talked him. “That’s it? That’s all you got?” George said years later that on the inside he was shrugging and thinking, “Yeah, that’s it.” Foreman weakened, and Ali knocked him out. I have rewatched that fight in recent years, and I cringe at the shots to the ribs and gut that Ali absorbed. Brutal.
I absolutely love when Spider-man in the Spectacular Spider-man series was caught under laboratory parts and he was about to give up until he remembered Gwen was unconscious next to him, so he just summons the will power to push beyond his physical limits to the point where his costume was tearing apart from his own manliness.
It has taken almost a year and a couple grand to finish my sleeve, my artist is so booked up that I can only go once a month. So it could be that or he could not just have the money to have them blast it on and just has them do a part at a time.

I'd just like to point out that in Rise of the Silver Surfer, the Thing holds up the London Eye. For context: The London Eye is about ×21 heavier than what he's capable of lifting in the comic.
I remember reading a similar comic, The Grandmaster captures the Universes greatest heroes & imprisons them, forcing them to fight the Champion of the Universe. Hulk, Thor & the Thing were there. The Champion wipes the floor with Thor, meanwhile the Hulk & the Thing had to learn to tolerate eachother & give up on their who's stronger debate to beat the fuck out of the Champion.

I spilled my damn drink at the Photoshopped Rcok
Who wouldn't after they see that Rock C*ck
Bruh Gurran Lagann is willpower hype: the show.
I highly recommend it
Don't believe in yourself, BELIEVE IN THE ME THAT BELIEVES IN YOU!
@@britonuntitled4180 JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!

Dude, I wrote almost exactly the same thing and then I scroll down and see this shit. *fistbump*
Yes
The thing is with Frodo and Sam, Frodo had worn the ring for a long time(even though you get the notion in the movie it has only been a few days...) for years he has worn it through it all and in the end Frodo will is broken by the ring. Sam has worn it (for just a few weeks maybe) but is still strong in willpower then compared to Frodo who since then been a husk of his former self(cause the ring has been eating away at his soul. And dont forget he got stabbed by one of the ring wraiths and he has used it a couple of times). So that's why sam is able to thwart the rings influence at Mount Doom..
*No one has beaten the Thing*
*Hulk; Hold my Beer*
He has tried before. I forgot the outcome but the comic wasn't that great unless you really just want a comic to read. But I'm pretty sure that Thing has won most times.
Captain marvel, blue marvel, legion, rogue, Franklin Richard's I don't know how many people could insta kill thing but there are alot
One instance is the series Space Punisher it’s in a different universe or it’s a one off but the hulk is huge has four arms and naked? He went around killing everybody he killed the fantastic 4 and ripped off things arm off and beat Johnny storm to death with it and ate the Watchers no biggie
DrHardlyKummsz Red Hulk fought Fear itself thing which He isn’t even as strong as the Big Green which shows most hulks piss on the thing
I had a collection of hulk beating the thing comics. Theres one where thing spends the whole story running away and jumping into the ocean and getting in a boat and running away.
DS9 5:15 By Inferno's Light : Worf is a POW and has been forced to fight so that klingon fighting styles can be studied. He refuses to give in and even though he's had his arse handed to him multiple times his opponent gives in with the line: "I yield. I cannot defeat this Klingon. All I can do is kill him. And that no longer holds my interest."
My favourite moment of pure will power, was in Deep Space 9, when Warf was captured by the Dominion. He was forced to keep fighting new opponents until he died. But in the end the strongest opponent said that he could not defeat Warf, only kill him.
Squirrel Girl? She defeated Doctor Doom and Thanos.
Thanos: I have the Infinity Gauntlet!
Iron Man: We have Squirrel Girl...
That was a parody and
Bro it wasn't meant to be taken seriously. It was making fun of DC characters being too overpowered.
Why y’all snowflakes in these replies 😅
@@S0uLGamin Nobody was mad. We were just explaining that the original comment was a joke.
@@S0uLGamin yeah, Squirrel Girl does it as a joke. The Thing does it dead serious. It's like making a video on Wolverine's healing factor and interjecting "but Deadpool tho".
when your arm becomes your new green screen
Favorite not giving up moment. The entire series of Gurren Lagann
Don’t believe in yourself, believe in the me that believes in you!
"He'll never give up harder than anyone can never give up"
Gon : Hold my soda
Renard Dubois lmaoooo what about Naruto

Goku gave up fighting a good handful of times too.
@@juanmarailgun7783
goku only gave up
because he knew others could do it but he did still give up
Paper would beat rock 🤷🏽♂️
This is an important comment.
Considering that Asbestos Woman was a villain for the Human Torch, I’m very surprised some sort of Paper Man/Paper Master/Origami Guy wasn’t ever used as a Thing villain
My favorite he won’t go down moment is Randy Marsh vs the Batdad. “I didn’t hear no bell.”
The accuracy of that statement could snipe a fruit fly while repelling upside down in a helicopter from 5 miles out while dodging incoming missiles in the middle of a hurricane with a sawed off shotgun
wow
@@drewlovely2668 Helen Keller took the shot.
Spoiler warning much
The only person angrier than The Punisher is The Hulk
@@spencerweil685 so you read past the part that says "from the new season of the punisher" and also kept going after "i believe its the last episode" and then still claimed spoilers. that's actually funny as hell.
Of all of these examples that we're given It's crazy that they never mention Matt Murdock. If thing has that much willpower I can only imagine how much willpower Daredevil possesses. That man is the living incarnation of willpower.
My favourite never giving up moment is when rock lee is knocked out but he still stands up whilst unconscious.
Yeah but that one is more sad. Literally "the spirit is willing but the body is not"
Dalton Williams that’s what made it so good
Sounds alot like the last battle in Season 2 of Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans where Mika overexerts his link with the Barbatos Lupus Rex and fights unconscious for awhile.
still not willpower. It was muscle memory. His body was literally the most willing part of him.
ohhh the rocks way into the MCU. champion of the universe
It would be an awesome gag at the end of one the guardians of the galaxy movies if they continue
“ How is willpower an actual superpower?”
Green Lantern: Am I a joke to you?
Doctor strange: sends the thing into the mirror dimension and traps him.
Karl Smallwood: "nobody can beat the thing".
He got out, didn't he?
Hulk has literally broken him into pieces. Lol
Well one THING is for sure BEN is not afraid of Green jeans so there is no fear in Ben's heart that's my dawg ✌
But did he give up tho 🤔😂😂
Not true nd if so when
He may of not given up but his body did
The Thing doesn't have bones tho, it's just rock, I don't when that happened
The best never give up moment is when Rock Lee still gets back up after having the left side of his body crushed.
...and keeps fighting even while being unconscious because his willpowers is just THAT strong
Some of my favorite "surpass your limits" moments come from Black Clover, theres a character named Yami and that's just kind of his thing. Hes always saying things like "I guess I'll have to surpass my limits, right now" and then cuts through dimensions with his katana in a magic show
I would like to mention my favorite in the 'Never Give Up' category, the game Asura's Wrath, which is basically God of War Meets Buddhism meets Dragon Ball Z or Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann... and made by Capcom about a guy called Asura who punches demigods in the face and screams a lot. Just check the trailers...
I thought Azuras Wrath was Hinduism
@@piercingmoon24 TV Tropes mentions both, so I guess that too.
I am 50 years old. I remember reading that comic book with the Champion of the Universe when I was 13 and I openly wept at Ben's force of will. Thank you for reminding me of that great story.
I cannot beat this Klingon. I can only kill him.
That's exactly what sprung in my mind.
Also known as the episode where Worf wasn't Worfed.
And that no longer holds my interest
Guts from Berserk. Sheer willpower so strong he refuses to die.
Well, that, decades of fighting, and a giant slab of metal on a handle. ;)
@@ColdNorth0628
And the angry armor. :)
That's a much better description of it than a sword.
Gr3nadgr3gory for it was too big, thick, heavy, and too rough to be called a sword.More like a heap of raw iron
I love how his weapon isn't even viewed as a sword is just a giant slab of metal on a stick.
Now, crucify me if you'd like, _buuuut~_ has anyone ever r34'd the Dragonslayer?
It _is_ described as being thicc. Just saying.
The Rock is the Champion of the Universe confirmed.
Nobody:
The Thing: And you will neeeeevvvverrr defeat the human spirit!!!
Until that is broken when he’s called ugly
The British dude said put some respect on the Things name lol I'm liking the vid for that one
“That’s it? That’s all you got?”
George said years later that on the inside he was shrugging and thinking, “Yeah, that’s it.”
Foreman weakened, and Ali knocked him out.
The thing vs the thing
Correction, champion is an elder of the universe.
WHY ISN'T YOUR TATTOO DONE?!!???!!
It has taken almost a year and a couple grand to finish my sleeve, my artist is so booked up that I can only go once a month. So it could be that or he could not just have the money to have them blast it on and just has them do a part at a time.
Phillip Anderson Not to mention just how long it takes. I have a simple bracelet and it took like 3 hours. And by the end of that I was pretty punchy from adrenaline exhaustion. A full sleeve (Which i will never afford) would take so many hours, and you gotta recover from that shit.

The Thing is the real OG, mad respect
It's Clobberin' Time!
Thing would be the ultimate Green Lantern
I'd just like to point out that in Rise of the Silver Surfer, the Thing holds up the London Eye. For context: The London Eye is about ×21 heavier than what he's capable of lifting in the comic.
Pretty on point. Confirmed, The Rock as Champion of the Universe. You heard it here 1rst!
Best example of a hero getting back up no matter what was monkey vs. Macho man-strongest in the universe from dexters laboratory
Funny enough, that duel between Rasslor and Monkey is a parody of the duel between Ben Grimm and Champion of the Universe.

He had gone one-on-one with an Elder of the universe (Champion), beaten to a pulp, sent. To the hospital, and left a trail of blood behind him as he crawled back into the fight. He has fought the Hulk so many times I’ve lost count. You can pound him into the ground, slug him into a pulp, but you will never beat him!
