What an episode? Surely that wasn’t 30mins felt like 3-5mins. You have a real talent there Joe. Keep those videos coming. Wish we had hunting and fishing stores like yours in Australia. How good is Tahr hunting. I’m so addicted. Such majestic creatures love watching the big boys walk around. Head to NZ again for the sika show. Looks like a good show.
This video was incredible! The suspense and the unexpected moments really kept me on the edge of my seat. You captured the thrill of the hunt so well, and the secret spot reveal was such a cool twist. Excellent work on keeping the audience engaged throughout!
Mate that was an epic trip. My heart sank as soon as you stepped up to the edge of that ravine to spot your downed Bull. So stoked you came up with a solution as you deserved to take him home🤙🤙
Truly admire your spirit and courage for facing the wilderness alone like that! It's an inspiring journey. Could you share more about your preparation process before this trip? What gear and skills were most important for you?
The area shows the population there is way too high for the healthy vegetation condition that some hunting lobbyists assert they are protecting. And its integrity declines further annually. Then they complain when any control efforts are made. Some entire species are absent where they should be, some possibly extinct, due to these glorified goats. The difference compared to the 1980s there is significant, tahr were rare but more chamois were in residence. They were annually shot for commercial meat purposes, and that seemed to keep them relatively stable. The tahr have since mostly displaced them. If hunters shot every animal they possibly could it's unlikely they would reduce the population adequately. You can only film (or shoot) what you see.
Me and the bro are in the process of getting a gun license! Cant wait until we are ready and have a bit of training behind us so we can hit our first hunt. Thanks for the inspiration mate. Wicked hunt!
Hi Joe, great film the scenery is amazing. That shot looked a little back? Good news that you recovered him. My hunt in England is for Sika stags in Dorset, which is the south coast of England, they are fiesty tough animals with attitude during the rut, ive been charged by one on the west coast of Scotland our neighbour in the UK. Slightly further afield it would driven wild boar in mainland europe. We are not allowed to shot any driven ground game in the UK. Jamie.
Hello Joe. What an awesome hunt and story. I have been watching your videos for about 2 years straight now never missing one. Is there a possibility of you sharing information with me about how someone like me would be able to hunt in these areas and what the rates would look like?
How do you decide where you are going to hunt a new place? Epic video been shit weather here on the westcoast so had to rewatch some of your first videos
Hey Joe, was in NZ a couple days ago ,picked up one of those huntech merino hoodie, going to put it through it’s pacers in the Victorian high country , anyway top vid as always, cheers
Gday Joe. I see you have the new version of the access 2, not sure if you had the old version at all but they tend to condensate quite a bit. Does the vents in the new fly improve the amount of condensation in the tent? Cheers
I really enjoy watching You hunting adventures @j.e.wilds-hunting and I would love to go hunting in NZ one day. But I think this shot was verry dangerous for the nanny and her young behind the bull. 26:17 The bullet could be deflected due to the bull Tahr (hitting a bone) and hit one of the other Tahrs as well. At least this is what I learned during hunting school in switzerland. But keep up doing the videos. Already waiting for the next Joe adventure and the stunning view of the NZ mountains.
Another great video! Thanks for sharing. Random gear question for you: What camera lens(es) do you use on these hunts that offer you great footage near and far away? Thanks in advance. Cheers!
Of all your posts, that must one of the best I have enjoyed the most, thank you for sharing. I did think there might have been two bulls and that you had shot both! I say that, as I had that happen to me while hunting fallow. As a matter of interest, what was the two distances you took your shots at please?
Plenty did that. And some were killed. There is a good reason some pilots don't, & why prudent shooters know the mechanical status of any machine they take a risk with. Cargo hooks fail apparently. It's a long way down and never heard how cool someone being bagged up was. Someone had to collect the carcass where it ended up. You can get out onto far worse places and situations from the air. Then have to get back in.
Even though it would have been sad if you couldn't retrieve the kill I had to laugh when I saw that ravine to hell's deepest depths. First set up. Bang. Run over to the edge. Second set up. Bang...... Oh sh*t that's a big drop
Hey mate I love your vids by far the best hunting channel that I know of, I was wondering why you only shoot the bucks? It is for conservation reasons? Also I was wondering if you know how to start off, Im 15 and really want to get into it but no one I know does it.
hey, I have watched a few videos of yours (Loved them all btw) and I have a doubt. Why do you wait for a few days after you spot the target? Why not just hunt after you spotted them and everything looks fine in the surroundings? Also, wouldn't it be all a waste of time if the animal spotted you on let's say 2nd day? They would just run away right??
