I am Indian and that is the best looking raita recipe I’ve ever seen. Green onions? You are blowing my mind! Thank you for being so versatile and consistently amazing! I loved seeing Terry try them too, she’s always so sweet!
Daikon Radishes would be amazing for this. One of them give you a TON of slices and easy to wrangle with a mandolin before boiling. I use the a lot for scalloped faux-tato recipes.
Crazy, they even look like little red potatoes. ❤ Probably my most missed food... I've just been air frying my radishes, then popping them into my dutch oven with a pot roast (with a Carrot cut into coins, & a couple of Pepperoncini). Hits the comfort food spot.
I just got around to trying this, last night. I was tired and didn't make sauce, or even do much seasoning. I sprayed them with olive oil, and just added salt and pepper. They are so good! Even with my minimal version. I'll be trying other versions, too, these are delicious. They really tasted a lot like potatoes. Very satisfying.
Radishes are so under-utilised and so under-rated! We grow loads but no one really likes them raw here. We roast loads and pickle the rest, they have a lovely unique flavour I add to seaweed wraps and hot-sour soup
I discovered the beauty of roasted radishes when I ended up with 5 bags of radishes in my CSA share...by accident I think. I was looking for any way to use them and ended up roasting them all.....oh my goodness! Gotta try this one.
I love this idea! I have also stir-fried radishes in my skillet with cauliflower rice for added color. Now for a Southern Style recipe... Corned Beef Hash with diced radishes instead of potatoes! This is very tasty, just don't add salt. The meat has enough. It makes a great substitute for hash browns as well... Add onions and garlic, then sautéed.
Lay down chopsticks and put the radishes between them and smash. This will smash with the cup this will keep them all the same thickness and will roast even and equal crispness. Dikon will not brown because it doesnt have the surface area of a smash radish. Thanks for the video.
My husband is smoking ribs on Saturday. (even though winter has seemed to return) I am totally making these as our side!!!! Thanks, Steve! We find your videos entertaining and so helpful!
This sounds really good. I have used radish cut into coins in Stroganoff to replace noodles. I have also cut them up like rice to make a coconut curry shrimp soup.
Anxious to try this recipe. I’ve used daikon, which is winter radish, in place of potatoes to make scalloped “potatoes” but I’ve never tried cooking regular radishes. The sauce looks yummy. Thanks for sharing.
Love these flavors. I'm going to try leaving the radishes whole or just cut them in half, toss them in the seasoned butter and then roast them in the oven until tender and the outside is crisp. Of course I'm making the riata too! Thank you for this fantastic inspiration ❤
We discovered a couple of years ago that cooked radishes are AWESOME. This recipe sounds fantastic. And I love Indian spices. Looking forward to trying this.
Looks like a fantastic recipe. I think I will fry the smashed radishes rather than baking them to brown them. The Raita sauce sounds delicious. I will try both. Thanks for sharing your recipes!
Great video Steve. Will definitely try. A nice alternative to celeriac (not sure of Google translate on the French-named legume "céleri-rave") or large turnips. We actually have some greasy spoons that have started making Poutine with turnip french fries, it's actually good.
Thanks for a great recipe. I can hardly wait to try the Italian seasoning version too. Looks like I’ll be planting plenty of radishes in my garden this year!
Each time your video impresses me this one is wonderful because we use radishes a lot and I need other ways to use them besides the typical boiling or frying thanks Steve no I can’t wait to try the radish puffs. I have a daikon radish in my refrigerator and I need to use it so I’m going to try that I will dice it up and boil it first just like you did with the red radishes.
This sounds great. Living alone I’m making half the amount. Going out tomorrow to get radishes and the ingredients I don’t have and will feast. Thanks for such a great recipe and suggestions for changing it.
I cannot wait to try this and this weekend is meal prepping! I bet it's as good as the Vietnamese scallion sauce recipe. I loved that recipe! Oh...I bet these would go great with the slow cooker beef recipe. That one was awesome too! Thank you 😃
I made this recipe and the sauce and I wasn't too impressed with it. I didn't really get a good crisp. It was a fair amount of work for a small amount of food. But in all fairness I have to say that these flavors are not a favorite flavor profile of mine generally....so that is naturally going to affect how much I enjoyed the flavors, It just looked so good when you made it I was inspired to make it.
Wow! I can tell this is something I'll be making! In fact, I'm going to check my garden seeds for radish seeds, I'll plant my own 😋 Oh, and I just might add twice the amount of coriander, I can't get enough coriander....or enough cow bell. I gotta have more cow bell!
Seriously though great recipes. I have always loved raita since pre keto. Once in a while I go to an all you can eat Indian Buffet for lunch and load up on Tandori Chicken, assorted curry, and some raita. I love Indian food. I miss the rice, but I can avoid it.
Looks really interesting. I may try 1) using daikon...one radish goes a long way, and easy to cut to uniform thickness, 2) there's gotta be a quick instant pot alternative to boiling, and 3) air frying seems like a time saver as well. I'm wondering if the smashing thing is essential to making the texture less like radish? Oh, and on the potato topic, my fave for mashed potatoes is using the "Mashed Potatoes" variety of acorn squash, for which seed is now widely available. So worth growing. My tips: don't let the squash get too ripe, and don't cure the squash for storage. Either of these allows the squash to get sweeter, which makes them no longer taste like potatoes. After picking, get to cooking (or freezing) within a few days, and for texture don't go crazy with an immersion blender or similar...this makes the texture too fine and results in a non-potato-like mouthfeel. Sometimes I just use a fork to "whip" it into my mashed "potatoes". Carb count? Who knows? But it's gotta be a lot better than potatoes, especially if you don't allow the squash to develop sugars.
I laughed when you called them potatoes twice, I guess that really covers the potato area with you! I have made raita for years and years, never add peppers to it, as it's meant to be a cool down from the spicy curries etc. Might be ok for radishes though
Interesting recipe. I love Indian food so this is right up my alley. Did you know that Palmini came out with Mashed Hearts of Palm?? I found packets at Aldi. I stocked up once I tasted them. So good. I just wish they would sell bigger packets with double the food in them. I assume that Trader Joe’s and other brands will come out with their own version of the mashed.
My hubby would love this! I could probably eat it, skipping the raita, if the boiling takes some of the peppery flavor out of the radishes. The italian & parmesan sounds like a real winner too. Thanks for introducing us to boiled potatoes, Steve...um, radishes. lol
I never liked radishes but any cooking technique removes that bitter flavor. It's very mild tasting. There's a cheeseburger casserole that uses them and you don't even know they're in it.
Mayonnaise works when replacing cream cheese - wondering if it will work for the yogurt. I am going to try it that way for a dairy free version. Looks wonderful - can't wait to try.
@@SeriousKeto I wouldn't think so. I make the red radishes roasted with the same seasoning as my roasted potatoes and there is no bitterness, but some people seem to think they still taste bitter. So for them, the daikon is another option. If they can find it! 😂
Please do a turnip potato salad... it does taste just like potatoes. Dice and cook turnips well done and drain. Cut up boiled eggs, onions, celery and add celery seed. Make a sweet dressing with mayo, splash of vinegar, sweetener of choice... I use Stevia and some heavy whipping cream... add dressing to all of above! You will think you are eating carb loaded potatoes! I've made it twice recently... you won't regret it! Radishes retain too much water for me to get the mouth feel of potatoes.... but turnips satisfied my mouth feel with my faux potato salad recipe.. hope you try it! 🙂
I fried sliced radishes with peppers and onions and garlic powder s & p delicious!
I am Indian and that is the best looking raita recipe I’ve ever seen. Green onions? You are blowing my mind! Thank you for being so versatile and consistently amazing! I loved seeing Terry try them too, she’s always so sweet!
Thank you.
Great idea! I need to up my ideas for radishes. Another game changer!
Daikon Radishes would be amazing for this. One of them give you a TON of slices and easy to wrangle with a mandolin before boiling. I use the a lot for scalloped faux-tato recipes.
Was about to ask if we could substitute with daikon! Thanks Alyssa
For whatever reason grocery stores in my area don't sell them...they don't sell anything that might be a bit different....so annoying
@@willettmary889 same, that's rural AZ for ya, in my case
daikon is amazing for this! wish it didn't aggravate my ibs
Yeah baby, bring on the Italian version!
I just saw a Coke ad on your keto channel. Too funny! Coke REALLY doesn't know their audience.
Clearly... 😄
Try roasting the seeds for a 2 minutes or so in a dry pan and then grind them. This will enhance the flavor even more
You are exactly right. 👍😊
Crazy, they even look like little red potatoes. ❤ Probably my most missed food...

Made them Saturday night! First time radish taster and was amazed! Thanks for widening my palate!
I discovered the beauty of roasted radishes when I ended up with 5 bags of radishes in my CSA share...by accident I think. I was looking for any way to use them and ended up roasting them all.....oh my goodness! Gotta try this one.
Such a unique recipe! I can’t wait to try it, Steve. Thanks for keeping the keto cuisine interesting
I love this idea!
I have also stir-fried radishes in my skillet with cauliflower rice for added color.

Corned Beef Hash
with diced radishes instead of potatoes! This is very tasty, just don't add salt. The meat has enough.
It makes a great substitute for hash browns as well...

I’ve done a video on corned beef hash already. 😉

Turnips are an awesome substitute for potatoes also.

yum
Great ideas
Can't wait to try these! I was literally just contemplating what to do with some radishes I needed to use up. Ty for sharing!!!
I'm definitely going to try this Steve. I love radishes
The gun powder dip is a brilliant idea for many seasoning choices. 😊
Fun fact you can dye paper with the radish water🎉… (simmer the water content down for a darker color)
#funfact
Another great job, Steve!😃👍 Have a blessed weekend 💜 🙏 ✌️ 🌞 💐 🎶

Looks tasty. Spotted the new ink too 😂. Thanks for posting.
Im goin' out now looking for radishes! Thanks Steve. I have also just watched your radish puff recipe, and those look amazing.,
Love radishes! Thank you Steve.
Can’t wait to try this. Thanks Steve.

Thank you for this fantastic inspiration ❤
Great recipe!!! Gonna try it this weekend! Thank you!
Sounds amazing Steve!
This sounds and looks great! Kind of Surprisingly, never thought of this because I use turnips for mock mashed potatoes!
Thanks!
We discovered a couple of years ago that cooked radishes are AWESOME. This recipe sounds fantastic. And I love Indian spices. Looking forward to trying this.
Thank you!
Roasted radishes are so good. You are very creative. Thanks Steve.
Thank you for sharing your creativity with us, excellent idea
Oh yumma, this is a great recipe! I love how adaptable it is too. Thanks Steve!
I use radishes to use as potatoe substitute in pot roasts. This looks delicious.
Thanks! I'm really loving all of these side dish recipes.
Thank you so much! I have another idea with radishes that I'm going to start working on this weekend.
*I'm definitely going to give this one a try. Thank you Steve for sharing* 😊
Looks really yummy thanks gonna give a try
Another GREAT video!! So different, can't wait to try it! Thank you for all you do.
Fantastic, radishes….who knew?!? Thank you!
Looks good! Radishes on the shopping list this week!
I could totally go for some Poutine. Just need to keto-fy it. 🙂
Oh I will have to try the poutine… yes!
I couldn't lose a single ounce of fat with these recipes because I would eat them all in one fell swoop!😂
Thanks, Steve!
Sounds like a new comfort food. Thank you!
Thanks for a great recipe. I can hardly wait to try the Italian seasoning version too. Looks like I’ll be planting plenty of radishes in my garden this year!
I've never been able to grow radishes successfully. Mine wind up the size and shape of pencils. It's all root and leaves.
This is great one addition. I used duck fat spray and it made it so rich!
nice
Lovely recipe.👍👍👍
Appreciate the additional uses for the seasoning blend plus the sauce. Thanks Steve!!
Wow! Can’t wait to try these! Thanks Steve!
I can’t wait to make these!!
I love radishes and this looks amazing. I use radishes in place of potatoes in my keto stew.
Those! Look! Amazing!
Now I need to go buy some radishes. And plant some, too. (They grow fast)
Spice combinations are dancing in my head...
What a nice recipe. I love radishes; but never tried cooking them. Thank you.
Each time your video impresses me this one is wonderful because we use radishes a lot and I need other ways to use them besides the typical boiling or frying thanks Steve no I can’t wait to try the radish puffs. Oh yeah! I am trying this soon. Thanks
Thanks
Definitely interested in seeing the parm recipe! These are finally going to get me to try radishes!
You might get the browning back by heating the pan and foil in the oven while it's on preheat, then putting the radishes in.
Such a great recipe! Use parchment paper instead of aluminum foil for ease of flipping and nice crispy texture 💜🙏💜
Parchment paper starts to burn at 420F. I don’t think it would hold up well for 45 minutes at 475F.
Whoa! This looks fantastic! Definitely tying this!
I can’t wait to get back home to give these a try
I’ve used radishes as a substitute for potatoes with a roast. I will give this a try. The spice combo is great.
I am not a Rashid fan but you make it look great so good I want to try and make it
Looks good!!!
Those look great, thank you!
Another winner! Love your use of spices. I like grounding my own spices too. Can’t compare the flavour.
Ooo! I vote for a video of the Italian seasoning and parmesan radishes! 😋
This sounds great. Living alone I’m making half the amount. Going out tomorrow to get radishes and the ingredients I don’t have and will feast. Thanks for such a great recipe and suggestions for changing it.
It's a very scalable recipe. My first few trials were just one pound.
Thank you for all your amazing recipes. I can’t wait to try this one.
This sounds very interesting ♡♡ its now on my "to-do" list. Thank you Steve.
that looks fantastic - thanks for this one!
I cannot wait to try this and this weekend is meal prepping! I bet it's as good as the Vietnamese scallion sauce recipe. I loved that recipe! Oh...I bet these would go great with the slow cooker beef recipe. That one was awesome too! Thank you 😃
Thanks for the tips on the radishes, I never boiled them before roasting. I think I'n going to play with this.
Looks amazing! Can't wait to try!
Excellent can’t wait to try, we have a garden full of radishes
I love it when a plan comes together. 😉
I'm growing some Daikon radishes so I may have to slice 1 up and try this.
I still have daikon growing in the garden so might try cutting one up for this
I haven't tried these with daikon, so I'm nut sure what the texture would be like.
@SeriousKeto it's common to cook daikon (which is really just a big radish) in many Asian cuisines so I might give it a go and let you know
So far, I have only air fried radishes, but this looks much better. With the Indian spices it’s definitely something I’ll try. Thank you!
Looks yummy
These are SO going on my snack prep !
I made this recipe and the sauce and I wasn't too impressed with it. I didn't really get a good crisp. It was a fair amount of work for a small amount of food. That looks delicious!! Next grocery trip!! Which might have to be today.
Wow! I can tell this is something I'll be making! In fact, I'm going to check my garden seeds for radish seeds, I'll plant my own 😋 Oh, and I just might add twice the amount of coriander, I can't get enough coriander....or enough cow bell. I gotta have more cow bell!

I haven't seen those. I'll have to look the next time I'm at Aldi.
I miss potatoes, so I’m trying this one! Wasn’t familiar with the “gunpowder” part of your recipe, but it sounds wonderful. 👍🏻

If you have an Asian market nearby and you can find Daikon radishes, they are less bitter than the red radishes.
There is no bitterness or pepper flavor to these after boiling and roasting.

Hi: thanks for sharing. Those look amazing.. Steve your sun tan 👍
Try using Daikon Radishes too (Big Asian Radish) no smashing but I'm going to try your spice blend and raita sauce...Thanks
I wish you would try a KETO recipe for potatoes using celery root,I think it's the best sub for potatoes!💯💖💖💖💖💖
Please do a turnip potato salad... it does taste just like potatoes. Dice and cook turnips well done and drain. Cut up boiled eggs, onions, celery and add celery seed.
