He was such a stud
I love Early Pink Floyd. They were the very best of psychedelic music. This is such a beautiful video. I am a hardcore EARLY pink floyd fan.
Early pink Floyd is much more fun than later. Roger waters is the worst thing to happen to floyd. Just listen to Piper vs the wall, Piper is fun and mysterious and playful and the wall is tedious and musically boring and takes itsself way too seriously. I like bits and pieces of later Floyd buy most waters stuff is crap imo.
My fave members in order;
1 - Syd Barrett
2 - Rick Wright
3 - Dave Gilmour
4 - Nick Mason
5 - Waters
I totally agree. I wish there was a lot more of Syd available with really good quality. He was at least for a time so playful and gave it all so much life and imagination.
@@alakazam1232 I slightly disagree, I'm a fan of both syd and Roger's stuff. Yes I do agree that early pink floyd is way WAY more fun to listen to and MUCH more catchy, but I really do love the artistic and the philosophical songwriting and musical creativity that came out of Roger in albums like Dark side- the wall. (My personal favorite is wish you were here). I really do love the stuff that came out before then in Atom Heart Mother, and Meddle. The only Pink Floyd era that I don't care much about is probably David Gilmore era (besides division bell) I wasn't a fan of projects like a momentary laps of reason.
@@musicamateur5432 I see where you're coming from. I actually really enjoy wish you were here too. Its a good tribute to Syd. And the music on that album is great.
@@musicamateur5432 I am being too hard on Waters.
This album makes me feel emotions that I experimented when I was a child, love it.
It's amazing. That's the genius of Pink Floyd, and Syd's unique musical talent. :)

Man, for something that was shot in 1967, this image quality looks better than a good deal of Hollywood films from that era. Kudos to whoever preserved this and/or remastered it!

Early Rick synth is just awesome.

That's a Farfisa organ making that sound, no synths till they make "Obscure by Clouds".
"Taken their improbable psychedelic colours into the open air" I love it 😂💖
Just 4 freinds going for a walk
"Improbable" is a bit harsh
Showed my 6 year old daughter this video. She's a fan of the Piper album in particular. She asked why did Syd plant the scarecrow in the wet marsh. Lol.
Was wondering the same myself.
Damn, I love Syd... He's like this elusive magical mysterious creature that's not really a part of this world lol
0:39 - A wild BARRETT appears!
0:13 - WATERS fainted!
1:33 - MASON challenges you to a fight!
Also, the boys are definitely walking in the "Tall Grasses" in this video. (If they made a Pink Floyd Pokémon game, I would definitely play it! :D )
Piper at the gates of dawn has always been my favorite PF album. Syd is such a mysterious and alluring figure.
Hey you might appreciate a band called The Doublejumps if you like early Pink Floyd
i dont know how much i love this song. God bless you Syd and Richard.
One of my favorite Syd Barrett songs (alongside "Astronomy Domine", "Matilda Mother", and "Chapter 24"). I've always wished the final section of this track with the baroque, delicate, pastoral 12-string acoustic guitar was longer, one of the most beautiful moments on Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
It’s nice to have the beauty and then go into absolute madness with Bike (You should listen to this whole album when you’re tripping and time it when Bike is right at your peak, you will definitely not come back all the way)
"And the sea isn't green, and I love the Queen, and what exactly is a dream? and what exactly is a joke?" Syd had such a beautiful mind.
51 YEARS AGO . THIS MUSIC
Idk why but this song always gets me when the guitar lead comes in at the end.
That 12-string guitar is just so gorgeous to go out by. This song is too short, but in a way, that makes it better. Urges repeated listening.
Favorite song from the album 👏🏻👏🏻
My only complaint is that it’s too short
it's brevity's what makes it perfect
Filmed at Brereton Nature Reserve, Northwich, Cheshire, England on 8th July 1967.
Shot onto 35mm film, which has a higher resolution picture than modern day digital 4K.
And that night they played at the Northwich Memorial Hall. They were being sent out to the strangest places - a week later they were on the Cricket Meadow at Stowmarket for the town's Carnival. Here's their July 67 itinerary - www.yeeshkul.nl/?page_id=12282

The black and green scarecrow as everyone knows
Stood with a bird on his hat and straw everywhere
He didn't care
He stood in a field where barley grows
His head did no thinking
His arms didn't move except when the wind cut up
Rough and mice ran around on the ground
He stood in a field where barley grows
The black and green scarecrow is sadder than me
But now he's resigned to his fate
'Cause life's not unkind, he doesn't mind
He stood in a field where barley grows

The intro to The Scarecrow gives me major Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast vibes. I think it's the organ/mellotron sound that Rick is playing which makes me think of the similar feelings.

Meu Deus! Como é bom ver um material dessa qualidade sobre os primeiros anos do Pink Floyd assim como vemos dos Beatles!❤🎶👏
I love this, when things appeared to be a lot simpler.
Such simple times.. like when all those Americans and Vietnamese violently killed each other, or that time when the president of the United States was murdered in front of thousands. Oh what about that time Russia and the states were going to launch nuclear Armageddon against each other? Plummeting the whole world into a nuclear war. Such simple times..

The black and green scarecrow is sadder than me.
Wow, the video on this one is fantastic. I'm trying to remember if this was on the VHS bootleg of Floyd clips I had in the early '90s. I may have never seen this before.
If you bought it from Brain Damage Magazine it was on the first one of a set of two.
All I remember is it ended with footage of the pig at Battersea. I more than likely received it in a trade as I traded a ton of boots back in the early '90s.

I've seen this around for a few years as a semi longtime Floyd fan but never in this quality- this is pure eye candy for what it is. would've preferred the mono mix of the song but that's just a tiny nit pick
I love you with all my heart Syd

Pure boys.
Good quality film for 1967! Really clear!!
35 mm film has better resolution than 4k
Eu amo essa música.
Syd was a unicorn equipped with a guitar and some side guys who tried their best to understand where he was coming from.
This is how I envisage what happens in the story of the song. So wholesome.
It's kinda hard to keep time in this song, it feels like it changes from 3/3 to 4/4 for a bit then right back to 3/3
That's what makes Barrett so special. Besides, have you ever tried to play a Barrett song without sheet music or the chords written down? It's impossible!
I've been playing guitar since 2005 and I still can't get See Emily Play down. Syd had such a way with innotation, chords, and especially rhythm. He's gotten to be one of my top 10 guitarists for sure.
Love pink floyd ❤
