Thank you for doing your ACOTAR series. I work as an overnight youth mental health counselor, I marathoned all of those videos from the first to the last one you just posted. It got me through two shifts. It was awesome because i could listen to it on my airpod and still walk around the house and check on the kids. It was like a podcast/audiobook in one. I am excited to see what content you post this year!

I just found your channel like... literally yesterday. I haven't read Any book fully in two years. I literally buy books I think I'll like and end up not reading them. So yesterday I started really reading again and read half of a book I bought a few months ago and did nothing else but read with cello music on the background. And I just wanted to say thank you for giving me the motivation to sit down and read again like I used to years ago. I'm really loving your channel and I love the way you express your opinions and your voice is so soothing. Im really enjoying your content! I can't wait to watch all your videos. Aiden Thomas’s writing is so refreshing for me (i’m so sick of authors writing teens in a way that’s very obvious that they’re near elderly) and they always seem to sweep me up in the excitement with the lore and character development. Definitely a nice read after the monster that was Priory of The Orange Tree!! and I believe the sequel is slated for late 2023, I’ll definitely be counting down the days lol :)

When I homeschooled my kids, Mark Twain's Joan of arc was the one to read. Here is a quote about the book. Very few people know that Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) wrote a major work on Joan of Arc. Still fewer know that he considered it not only his most important but also his best work. He spent twelve years in research and many months in France doing archival work and then made several attempts until he felt he finally had the story he wanted to tell. He reached his conclusion about Joan's unique place in history only after studying in detail accounts written by both sides, the French and the English. Because of Mark Twain's antipathy to institutional religion, one might expect an anti-Catholic bias toward Joan or at least toward the bishops and theologians who condemned her. Instead one finds a remarkably accurate biography of the life and mission of Joan of Arc told by one of this country's greatest storytellers. The very fact that Mark Twain wrote this book and wrote it the way he did is a powerful testimony to the attractive power of the Catholic Church's saints. This is a book that really will inform and inspire.

I also read _Kiss Her Once for Me_ and was let down. I liked the idea of having demisexual and ace-spec representation but didn't feel like it was done right. As a demisexual person, I found it hard to believe the main character would be attracted to someone *that* quickly. They didn't have enough time together for their connection to feel deep or authentic.
I also didn't like the ending. I won't spoil it here but it didn't feel like the right ending for the characters.
I did appreciate the way it handled generalized anxiety disorder, I have it myself and it was a very accurate portrayal of it.

For thrillers, here’s some I really enjoyed last year:
    - SUMMER’S EDGE by Dana Mele (YA)
    - IN MY DREAMS I HOLD A KNIFE by Ashley Winstead (Adult)
    - WHITE HORSE by Erika T. Wurth (Adult); more horror than thriller

I was so irritated with Daisy Darker. I bought the book and tried to be outdoorsy and read it in the park and a bird immediately shat in the middle of the page and I had to cut the 2nd chapter out of the book :( I hated the twist reveal but I will admit I LOVED the setting. I thought the cottage was cute and I loved the name Seaglass and all the 80 coo-coo clocks for every year the grandma had been alive. I found myself way more interested in the dynamic of the dysfunctional family than the plot, but the mystery was so bad to me that it didn't even begin to make up for it.

If you wanna learn more about Joan of Arc I highly recommend Joan of Arc: A History by Helen Castor! It's a biography of her life and as someone who doesn't read too many historical nonfiction books I found it relatively easy to read!

I truly love the way you talk about books and I'm so glad I found your channel!! I am a more recent subscriber, so I'm not sure if you've read the "A Good Girl's Guide To Murder" series, but if you like well written thrillers you should absolutely read that series! It's YA but definitely not afraid to tackle darker topics.

Aw man if you like thrillers you should read. Tear by Erica McKeen. Btw this also goes out to other people who like reading thriller and yes this is my first thriller book and I'm enjoying it so much!
    The book description :
Frances is quiet and reclusive, so much so that her upstairs roommates sometimes forget she exists. Isolated in the basement, and on the brink of graduating from university, Frances herself starts to question the realities of her existence. She can’t remember there being a lock on the door at the top of the basement stairs-and yet, when she turns the knob, the door won’t open. She can’t tell the difference between her childhood memories, which bloom like flowers in the dark basement, and her dreams. Worse still, she can’t ignore the very real tapping sound now coming-insistently, violently-threatening to break through her bedroom wall.

I randomly clicked on the video and I just happen to have finished the newest book by Ilona Andrews yesterday. The covers of most of her books (except for the Innkeeper Chronicles) are horrendous and I'm really close to just get into book binding soley for the purpose of having nice versions of the books. I absolutely love their stories though! They're my favorite authors and there are only like 2 books by them I haven't read (so far). I hope your read more by them, I'd love to hear your opinion on their other books

I'm with you on historic retellings, it should be clear if a book is total fiction or not before you start. I learnt a lot from philippa gregory (i even drew my friend a family tree before her history exam) but I knew going in that i was reading fiction and that if i wanted to know more i needed educative sources.

I think One Dark Window sounds great but I am going to wait for the next one to come out based on your review I think haha. I actually really liked The Bridge Kingdom and the sequel but I would agree that I'm surprised there was so much hype. It's not one I would widely recommend. I would say book 2 was more character focused if that's something you like. I haven't read #3 yet - it's a different couple so I'm interested to see how that one goes!

The problem you had with the Joan of Arc book is the problem I had with "Booth" about John Wilkes Booths family. Like, I get that in the story format, you have to fill in things you don't know. But it still feels weird to find out that for one of the central people in the story, they basically had no idea what she was actually like.

I loved The Hidden Girl ❤In keeping with the Mexican theme of some of your reads, I just finished Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Morena-Garcia. Not sure if you've already read it, but I thought it was great. Very fairy tale-esque and I love the main relationship and the world that the author creates (not to mention there are just some beautiful lines). Highly recommend.
Also, if you're after a good romantic book, please read The Other Bennett Sister. It basically gives Mary (from Pride and Prejudice) her own spotlight and just... the character arc/growth and the romance was so so good. Definitely a win for all the introverts! It's a bit long, but I did the audiobook (there's a fantastic narrator) and it was so hard to not keep listening to the next chapter.

Thrillers are always hit or miss for me too. I read Magpie by Elizabeth Day last week and really liked it. It's not super gruesome but I found it very captivating. Maybe that could be something for you, although it does deal with sensitive topics that lead to people either loving or hating it I think. But I thought it was a quick and interesting read.
