The conductor may have been Ray Bloch(Ed's music director), or it could've been Lehman Engel(who conducted the opera's world premiere and original cast recording).

Oh My this just blew me away. MetMme. Neway back at Baldwin College in the early 60's A true human person, Her talent is blessed by the goddess of music herself. This is a true document that singing actors who would interpret the libretto making it real did not begin with the great Mme. Callas -- many were there before. Let You Tube bring them all back. TY TY.

Yes, Neway was one of those in the long line of great singing actresses. I saw her at the end of her career as the Prioress in Sound of Music on Broadway and she was still great. I have often wondered what Callas might have done with this but certainly not any better than here or than Zeani's Italian performance or Farrell's voicing of this aria. Ashame that the Met could not have seen fit to present this great work while Farrell was singing there.

Amazing. All singing-actors should see this.

What a medium was television when it included incomparable drama like this. Those days have vanished.
