What an actor! What a soulful heart! He is so brave in his endeavors and not afraid to portray what society thinks it’s a taboo to be! He gets these roles so spot on by just being respectful of every character he gets to portray! So proud of YOU.

Nicholas Galitzine has that rare talent where, when you watch his work, he is not an actor portraying a character. He becomes the character with his entire being. I think that is why he can play such a wide range because he becomes each character.

If Nicholas Galitzine says he is heterosexual, why claim otherwise. More importantly, why does it matter? Matt Bomer plays both types of roles, but identifies as gay. Both are good actors. Why is it so important we demand to know an actor's personal orientation? Will we ever reach a time when both orientations are completely acceptable as just plain normal? Probably not anytime soon. It will be a long slog changing the minds of the haters, but it is a worthy goal that we keep trying our best to meet.

Because there aren’t that many gay roles and gay actors already have limited opportunities. Not to mention straight people don’t have the experience of being gay so they can never understand the importance of the role.

Cultural change can take a very loooooong time. As an older person, I can tell you that America has come quite a way in accepting LBGTQ+ persons. That being said, we have a long way to go yet!

@@keenanhero3392 I understand and sympathise with what you say, but the way forward may be to be strong and even strident when campaigning against prejudice generally and politically, but making everything personal only frightens and alienates "the General Public" rather than persuades change for the better. Which we all want. Sexual representation in life and in the arts is not a score sheet, nor some sort of tit for tat. Nor should it be some sort of competition of debit and credit. The goal should be one of seeing anyone's sexual orientation to not matter in the final, humane, analysis, and be nobody's business but their own.
Galitzine has always made it plain, without making a drama about it, that he is straight. He should be applauded for his courage and commitment in taking roles that are challenging in their own right, regardless of their sexuality. At the end of the day he should be recognised as an exceptional actor of integrity, striving to do his best, push the envelopes, broaden the discussions and as such speak for everyone, straight, queer and everything in between. Queer people who know him better than those in social media who don't actually know him or anything about him, work and choose to work with him because of who and what he is. Which should be proof enough for anyone.

I am a HUGE Galitzine fan. He portrays each character that he plays with deep authenticity and genuiness. Nicholas is among the most gifted actors I have ever watched. I soon will turn 80. Frankly, I can care less about Nicholas' sexual orientation. That is very, very personal. We must not draw fast conclusion about someone based on their acting roles. After all, Rock Hudson and Cliff Montgomery were gay actors playing straight roles.

Many people might say he is taking acting jobs away from queer actors, but honestly I can't imagine anyone else (queer or straight) portraying Prince Henry. Nicholas was fantastic and really fed off the emotions of his character. If queer actors can play straight characters, then straight actors can play queer characters too. BTW I am obsessed with "Red White and Royal Blue", I thought it was the funniest, most wholesome movie we have had with queer representation in a long time and it came at a time when we really need it. I have yet to read the book, but I'm sure it's even better than the movie! I would love to see "George and Mary" (I think it's called) as well and hope it can be put on other streaming apps.

@@keenanhero3392 that’s also true, but I feel like everyone just expects queer actors to portray queer characters, and that’s also very limiting. I think if someone is a great actor they should be allowed to play a role regardless of their sexuality. (That doesn’t apply to ethnic/race differences in actor and character. It wouldn’t be okay for a white person to portray a black person, and it’s not okay for white actors to portray asian characters either which I have seen happen so many times.)

If there are two actors that audition for an LGBTQ+ role, and both are at the same level and one is an LGBTQ+ the actor who is LGBTQ+ should be the one to play it.
But if the straight actor auditions better, they should get the part.
    Acting is about that: acting!
If an actor can play the part better, give it to the best actor!
If a gay actor can play a straight part better, give it to the gay actor!
