  • 2 weeks ago, we lost his 65yr old grandad, following a short battle with cancer. I never had a dad, but for the past 12 and a half years, Rob was like a dad to me, and treated me like a son. He was so proud of his children, Dan and Alice (my wife), and his grandchildren.
I suffered terrible grief in my teens, when I lost my grandparents (who raised me) 5 days apart, so it hurts so much to think my kids won’t grow up with a grandad, but he will live on in our memories and we will always talk about him with the kids.
The grieving process is definitely different when you’re parents to young children, as (we feel) it is our responsibility to protect them. There’s enough shit to deal with when we get older, without stealing their childhood from them now. My wife says it’s up to us. The kids will be ok if we are ok. So we laugh and smile in the daytime and cry in the evenings, when they’re asleep.
I just love how my boy talks about heaven, rainbows and raindrops. I wasn’t going to share this, as it’s very raw and real, but that’s exactly why I decided to share it. My hope is that it make you smile.🌈💧🥹❤️
