I guess UK wins out this round for me:
    Assassin’s Apprentice - UK

    The Rithmatist - UK
    The Starless Sea - US
    Blood Heir - US

I'm sorry to hear your dad is in the hospital. Being in a hospital is never fun, let alone having to deal with a reason for being there.
Its great that he gets out tomorrow! And its awesome that you're helping out.
Loved your choices, i myself struggled to pick. (frustration at its best when you're deciding which civer to buy on book depository)
Well, i struggled, except for with one...😃
Assassin's apprentice: I LOVE the UK edition so much more. Only because it so easilly caught my eye at the bookstore for years. I was too intimidated to pick it up only cause i'd never read adult fantasy before. If i saw the US edition, while id love the illustrations, the cover alone wouldn't beg me to pick it up without having some knowlege about what story was in the book. Of course, being your typical teenage girl with a greediness for pretty books like a dragon has for gold and gems, i picked up the UK edition, completely ignorant of what the story was about, but not caring anyway thanks to its cover design.
To boot, it took me 40 minutes extra to start reading it because I was too busy admiring the cover, especially the literal gold colouring that reflects in the light, making the perfect finishing touch to the book (yeah i like this cover too much 😅).
No regrets in picking up the book. Got to fall in love with Fitz's character.😍

Gonna sound desperate here. Yes, i love your style of videos...but im so excited today for the givaway. I've been so desperate to read the Shadow of the Fox series. Love the synopsis (BIG anime/jdrama/emotionless guy/clumsy cute main girl FAN), love the covers, love Julie Kagawas writing cause its so easy to get into (The iron fey was my second YA series ever). And my lovable Mum, who usually goes to the store with me to buy books (I can't ask my dad no matter what, he pays for everything else already ^^), currently lives 4 hours away and can't travel here without good reason thanks to Quarantine for im guessing 3 months. So yes...very very desperate and cant believe that of all the series you're giving away its THIS ONE. I suppose i did have fun comparing covers even if im so indecisive...plus your cat was an automatic distraction from any stress the world currently has to offer😊😅)

I am reading the farseer trilogy right now for the first time and I LOVE IT. I actually love it so much. I am thinking about it all day when I am not reading the book. it is like I am part of the story. Such a fun time.

@@elizabethwolflopez I know what you mean. I didnt LOVE (only sorta liked) the first book when i initially read it but i also couldnt stop thinking about it and HAD to read the next books. With each of the books i grew to like Fitz more and more, going from "hes a noce character"to "i love him" to "i got to watch him grow from the age of 6 to like 18, of course im undeniably attached". And now i LOVE all 3 books just because i love reading about Fitz.

I kinda wish you'd done a Shadow of the fox UK vs US edition.
I'm so curious to see which you prefer.
Personally, i'm still undecided. Love Julie Kagawa's books (i haven"t read Shadow amd the fox yet but her writing and characters are so fun to read in her other books i have read- The Iron fey series and Talon) but so far this series has the best cover designs for her works in my opinion.
    For shadow od the fox-
📘 The UK ones look so cool and totally stand out (plus i love seeing a fox like mask on the cover- blame the influence anime has had on me over the years, its basically decited my taste in what looks cool and what doesn't).
📘 Then the US edition is pretty interesting cause the whole brushstroke design on each cover, gicing it a Japanese caligraphy look to it.
    Yeah i still can't pick.

-First of all, wishing your Father well. Such good news that it was nothing overly serious. I can only imagine the relief..
-Assassin's Apprentics: Love the illustrated edition. Sure im biased and its not technically because of the cover *cough cough* but rather the illustrations. But at least i can also argue that black and white covers look stunning on a shelf when placed creatively. 📚
-Brandon Sanderson-. Okay if you had chosen the Mistborn Trilogy, the US edition would have easilly one. Though i think with the Way of Kings series, the UK wins just cause the red in the US feels sorta boring to me.

So normally I prefer the UK covers, especially with fantasy, there’s just something about them.
But I’m currently reading The Starless Sea, and the US cover is just SO PERFECT. The simple elegance of it coincides perfectly with Morgenstern’s writing and matches color schemes described in the book. Also, under the dust cover the book is a simple flat black with a gorgeous gilded inlay? Engraving? Idk what word I’m looking for. But it’s so beautiful. Once again, elegant and simple.
The UK version just looks chaotic. Doesn’t fit with the vibe of the story at all.

I really like the US edition of Starless Sea! And i agree about the "real people" on covers, especially since they never usually match the description of the people in the book.
UK edition for Blood Heir is my choice too, btw :) I love the blood red cloak turning into a red bloody background.

I usually prefer the more simplistic covers. Love the UK covers most of the time. The US version for Starless Sea is better in my opinion though. Shadow of the Fox is actually on my Holds shelf and coming to my library soon! Very excited!

I love all the Assassin's apprentice covers, I think they all capture the series pretty well.

I agree with you on Blood Heir. I picked up the UK cover because it was so stunning. I did read the Shadow of the Fox in ebook and I loved it. Thank you so much. :)

Someone said that they would have liked if you compared Shadow of the Fox UK and US covers and I totally agree.
Personally I love both covers. I think I like the ones with the paintbrush stroke more, but the ones with the fox mask would probably make me interested to read the synopsis and the ones I would buy.
    My brain's weird.
For the Blood Heir covers I like the UK addition a little bit more, but the US is still very cool.
I hope you and your family are good and healthy!

I’m glad your dad is ok! I preferred the US covers until Blood Heir. The UK cover is definitely better for Blood Heir. I’m listening to Shadow of the Fox and I’m absolutely loving it. But since I don’t know a lot about Japanese mythology I think I’m going to continue the series with the physical copies so I can see the glossary.

I usually prefer more simplistic covers but that vivid one from the way of kings is an exception

Thank you for the giveaway! That UK Blood Heir cover makes me want to read the book based on the cover alone!🩸 Nothing beats that UK Strange the Dreamer cover (I do like the UK Starless Sea cover thought)! So gorgeous. 💙 I hope your dad recovers soon! Take care! ❤️

For the Blood Heir vote I love the one with the blood silhouette on the cover. Think it’s quite beautiful!

Blood Heir, definitely the non-person cover. Another thing I've found with U.K. editions vs Canadian ones is different titles completely for the same book. It really throws me for a loop when I "discover" a brand new book by an author I love, only to find out, yeah, it's a book I already have under a different name. Cool vid. Hope your Pops is well. NOW GO PLAY WITH LUNA!!!!!

My fiancé just gave me the Orbit UK version of the entire WoT and they look so awesome on my bookshelves! Can't wait to read them!

The comparison I always make is Skyward UK vs. US. The U.K. covers are so gorgeous and the US covers are just blerg. I’m waiting to see if I like book three when it comes out in 2021 before I fork over U.K. shipping $$$.
Thanks for doing this giveaway for us! The Shadow of the Fox has gorgeous covers.

Like you, I don't usually enjoy covers with photo-realistic people on them. When it comes to cheesy fantasy covers I definitely prefer the style of something like The Way of Kings over those Robin Hobb covers. I feel like they can give some really nice character to the book!

Oh boy, I used to hate the UK Starless Sea cover (every version of it; standard, Waterstones, Goldsboro - just all of them. Way too busy, totally not my style) with a fiery passion when I first saw it. But idk what kind of dark magic happened (haven't read the book yet either), because now I own and love it and I wouldn't even dream of trading it for the US edition.
I also have the Illumicrate version, which ironically is super minimalistic in comparison; essentially a blue color variant of the UK hardcover proof copies. I love that one just as much.

The editions you showed were so pretty! I like the UK Blood Heir cover a lot more because it just looks a lot more ominous which seems in line with the theme of the book based on the summary xD For the Starless Sea...I don't really like bugs in general so I kinda prefer the US version lol.
