Having HEARD the difference between "XD" and "plain stereo", I can attest that everything Dave says here is true! With just TWO SPEAKERS, close your eyes, and you can EASILY imagine yourself standing directly in front of the stage! You can EASILY discern the locations of the performers, not simply left-to-right (ANY good stereo does that) but you can CLEARLY HEAR the "depth" of the sound stage! You can TELL that a trumpet is 10 feet away, to the left... a vocal to the right, 3 feet away, etc. It really is immersive, and impressive. :) Being a Tech Geek, I'm well aware of how it works... no snake oil, just honest audio with amazing detail!

An iconic brand like Krell Audio should do some merchandising, you've earned it for sure.

Great video! Thank you for differentiating the design differences between my loved and recently factory recapped KSA 300s and the new i400. I look forward to hearing it soon.

This amplifier was connected didectly to the Krell DAC sounds most impressive.

I’d love to buy the “KRELL 7200 XD” 7 channel amplifier, but what really worries me is that it’s a pure class A amp, so it’s overall heat dissipation is a lot🤦🏻

I don't know what the cause was of all the background noise whenever Walter was talking, but from around 3:00 forward I gave up, too difficult to understand what he was saying (people in the background blabbing away...). You'd expect from a company that takes pride in sound quality that they'd get these sort of basics right to do a simple video-meet. Pity.

I agree seems they do not care bout representation. who does things this way. seems the sound was comming from the middle. not to mention spock might want to blink once in a while.

S300i, s550i , I own both of them; display went off in 3 months; pre amp board went out in 5 moths, left and right amp blow in 9months , that is Krell”s bullshit at its best, for wannabe”s looking at Krells, my advise look at MBL, BURMASTER, T&A, then you will enjoy your music 7x24 with absolute joy.

Why would you want to cancel ALL the 2nd harmonic distortion (or practicaly all even harmonics) and keep the 3rd and other odd harmonics?
Thats EXACTLY how you create fatiguing "transistor" sound. Havn't you learned the lessons from earlier designs?
A really natural and perfectly neutral sound need to have a certain relationship between mainly 2nd and 3rd harmonic AT the listening level.
Please learn how sensitive the human ear is to different harmonic distortion, and use that knowledge to design your amplifiers to follow that
sensetivity. If you don't do that you will alter the character of the recorded signal.
Since you are BIAS experts you also can use the bias to give the customer the posibility to alter the bias and the distortion spectrum to match
the customers loudspeakers and listening level.
Look at what Audionet do with their Max amps...
...or Gryphon. They are close to what I mean with keeping the harmonic structure of the distortion. Tenor Audio have understood the concept too.

Krill never made one component I liked. It is so solid state sounding, not in a good way.

That’s definitely NOT true. That’s your personal preferences which are different here. Krell is and was an iconic pioneer in HighEnd amplifiers…if you personally like it or not. That’s a fact. Sure the company (and possibly it’s products) suffered a bit after Dan left the company…like it is in almost all cases when the founder leaves or sells off the company!
