I’m willing to stand by as Christie revises the history of his last 5 years if it means someone runs against Trump. The only outcome worse for the GOP than Trump running is him running unopposed. There needs to be a Republican alternative during the primaries.

Agree. We'll need to see action and results. Christie was the first competing candidate to endorse Trump after dropping out of the 2016 Republican presidential primary, and he did so forcefully. He's got a lot of damage to undo.

+1 - he traded water for Trump all the way, and only now scrambles to organize himself as the opposition: too little, too late. He sounds reasonable now, but trades hyperbolic rhetoric in the next breath.
He’s one of the smarter ones, but I wonder if he doesn’t see the world he’s in, at least in media, the ‘left and moderate media’ are the only ones he can get a somewhat honest and intelligent discussion with, all the rest is propaganda, always has been. Wouldn’t one rather align with people who you can have real conversations with?
He’s such a rare mixed bag of intelligence, opportunistic behavior and boot licker characteristics that I find it weird that he can’t or isn’t willing to acknowledge his own position as de facto Nazi’s sympathizer and rationalizes his way out of any culpability.
When Christie says “Some people would say his policies caused inflation” I thought I heard Trump speaking. You can find some people to say just about anything. The question is what evidence do they bring and should you believe them.
When I heard that I said out load by myself "yeah some people say the earth is flat what are economist saying" most economist blame supply chain for inflation not policies its so annoying

Trevor is honestly an excellent host. He seems like one of the few people that can actually have a respectful conversation with someone who has differing beliefs. He's an impressive dude.

I must admit, this is a different side of him that I'm not used to seeing and I like it! I first saw his interview of Dan Crenshaw and now seeing this interview, it makes me reconsider my opinion on Trevor. I felt like usually his political humor is very low hanging fruit and playing up to his left of center base. I like how he is actually having a real conversation and general interest in what his guests have to say and not just dismissing or bashing the person on general party affiliation especially those who differ from his political leaning. That happens all to often these days and only creates echo chambers that don't help any side. I will definitely take an interest in more discussions like this from Trevor and give him another chance.
So, so, so refreshing to see people of opposing viewpoints having a genuine, honest, and fact based conversation.

Oh so we're rehabilitating this guy now? He was horrible and vindictive as governor. And where was he in 2020 when any of this anti-Trump stuff actually mattered? Christie is the prime example of a bully who kisses up and kicks down.
I hate him and hated him as a governor, but he's been tight on calling out all of Lord Cheato's bull.
Were not rehabilitating him, he is trying to rehab himself...but he always is. Most of his interviews have that tone.
He is always willing to be charming, reasonable, self-effacing and at least suggestive of birtisanship. He is intelligent and well spoken and always an interesting person to interview.

I appreciate Trevor’s respectful and candid discourse with people who are very obviously on the other side of the spectrum. It’s refreshing and gives me some hope that things can improve.

What’s refreshing? He said nothing worthwhile. He wrote a book and called out obvious lies. He’s just trying to have a different angle than his opponents to stand out. He didn’t mention any policies.
Politics are becoming way too much about individuals rather than actual policies. When it should be about trying to help as many people as possible.

Again - thank you for bringing someone “different” on - someone with different views and approaches. Interviews like these have me thinking back when John Stewart chose Trevor. He saw something in him. You have to understand how Democrats think. I would have zero issues with Trump's presidency if he simply put in real effort and didn't inspire the darkest elements of people. Unfortunately, what happened was the result of having a person who didn't even want to win take office and turn our beautiful country into a ridiculous circus. He is, and will forever be incapable of doing anything but what he did, because he is a truly damaged person. I live in Massachusetts and our Republican governor has my fullest support. That's what history is for, and we all remember. Make him tell on himself, while getting as much out of him as possible. Also, Trevor did ask tough questions. These three interviews are the best content I’ve ever seen come out of the daily show. And I’m a fan of the show! I love to see Trevor getting real with people across the aisle. If Fox&Friends or MSNBC had shows like this America would be a better place.
What a waste of time of an interview. No mention of any sort of of policy, what you believe in, what you want to fight for. So tired of characters instead of actual politics.
The jokes goes: a liberal and a conservative step into an interview... and they have a respectful conversation!
Oh wait, it's not a joke. It's Trevor Noah being a respectful and reasonable journalist and he has a politician guest who doesn't spend 100% of the time being paranoidly defensive.

And politicians on the right like to forget the fact that survey after survey of the American public demonstrates that a significant majority supports these same policies, which are simply policies designed to improve the lives of all Americans as they get the U.S. caught up with the rest of the world.

If only you knew him before the last five years. Im in NJ and what he accomplished from balancing the budget, reducing taxes, preventing monopoly by the teachers unions, reforms to target the opiod epidemic- he was great. If he didn't run for President and endorse Trump he'd probably still be considered great.
I think this interview was extremly WEAK. Those were softball questions. You let Mr. Christie throw doubt into the conversation about so much stuff that isn't true.

I always find it amusing when former Gov. Christie talks about "the truth". He would not know it if it bit him on his sizeable behind. He is so full of bluster, obfuscation and just downright BS. It is laughable and he just does seem to care that he is being laughed at, not with.

I love how trevor interviews, always fair and polite! Asking pretty straight forward, meaningful questions.. And maybe its the atmosphere, but even with the most controversial guests, they seem more relaxed and trevor gets more in depth answers.

I can listen to him talk with anyone. He asks great questions and he's naturally so curious and insightful. Whoever took a chance on Trevor to take over the Daily Show is a genius.

Great interview, but when it came to discussing Beiden, there was no reasonable discourse. Trevor is right, gas prices are international ... Christie says no. When they talk about Beiden as a moderate, and Trevor notes that Beiden SAID he would push a more progressive agenda, Christie says that's not true ...? Then he falls back on the tired Afghanistan withdrawal kanard. Trump set the whole thing up, and Beiden had to try to manage his mess. Granted, he could have STOPPED everything and started again, but I bet that would have looked worse. And THEN, he says BEIDEN's OLD!! ! Can they think of ANYTHING ELSE? Beiden is not the only guy in the room! In trump's case, it was a room full of sycophants, nationalistic whackos, a few patriotic bureaucrats, and a total narcissistic idiot. That's not how they're doing things now, and Christie KNOWS it.

Biden has failed the US in so many ways, and while Trump was arrogant, had a big mouth and who’s biggest fault was vanity, his policies were solid. Trevor is a smart man, but he is also an internationalist and naive. Very naive. He has some growing up to do.
The Afghanistan situation is 100% Biden’s debacle. When take over as CEO of a company you don’t get to blame the previous CEO for your bad decisions. Bidens in the driver seat now, leaders own their decisions, they don’t blame previous leaders.

He is probably the only republican with a different story line today. I live in Nj and will never forget how he and other repub governors stopped Obama's transportation construction in their states. Here they had started to build a needed extension to the train line: stopped it cold and put a ton of people out of work. Following the party line.

I think politicians feel at ease around Trevor because of how he handles himself in these interviews where he clearly disagrees with them and calls them out. Still fairly and politely. And I think it’s great that they have these talks without an audience because ppl are more likely to get defensive in front of a crowd in order to save face. Hope these kinds of talks continue with politicians and without the audience there. Don’t know if he had this already or it started after covid… but hope it goes on

I love that Trevor is interviewing republican leaders in this long-form conversation. Y’all in the comments are toxic, I think we should be thankful for people like Christie sitting down and talking with the other side of the aisle. It’s just great journalism, and my respect has grown leaps and bounds every time Trevor puts out one of these.

I like Trevor, but every time he interviews Christie, he drops the ball for me. Christie is a smart person to pander to the audience he is in to sell his books. Why didn’t he use his political capital to squash the big lie before coming out with his book.
He seems very driven by personal, political convenience. If that's how he wants to operate then he doesn't get to stand up and say he's a voice of truth and morality. I'm really not interested in his view, but maybe he can add some moderation to some of the extremism on the right.

Trevor is a great interviewer and he says what he believes and he allows his guest to do the same. No name calling or yelling. Just a conversation of two people with different views.
