I feel your emotions about getting a new sewing room and especially the cutting table! I also had a renovation 2 years ago and got my dream space! It makes such a difference!! You are an inspiration. I lost my husband 6 years ago, we had planned on making our 400sq ft garage into our bedroom. I decided to make it into my craft room, cutting into it for firewood storage. Many stalls and starts, I have had the beginning to my new room. It's 360 square feet. I have been stalled again lately. I AM going to get the paint and floor epoxy going. I can't wait to start creating again. It will help heal my soul.

Is that a pallet table, made from rough pallet boards? It looks so perfect without those multiple rough pallet slats and was thought out to a size to accommodate the storage baskets to slide in and out. I am 73 and still remember my 7th grade home ec sewing teacher. I still insist on a shank on my buttons! When we were making our a-line skirts she really impacted my idea of style to this day with the importance of being tidy looking. It still is the first thing I think of when I dress after all these years!

Having more space in your home when your kids move out is bittersweet. But it’s a benefit to getting older to be able to have a tailored space in your home for a beloved creative outlet, especially for you and your lifelong love of sewing.
Your new sewing room is FABULOUS. I loved seeing it take shape. I’d be emotional too so I absolutely understand how you feel. I have my own sewing and knitting room and it’s made such a difference to my work so having your own space is so important. Can’t wait to see your new videos in your new room.
Im not crying you are! I cried with you! I got my dream room or rather separate building in retirement. We were looking for a house with guest cottage then found ths one that did. Good thing as the main house diddnt toally have a separate bedroom with a door. It does now. Truss beamed roof. But it also came wih a workship built by the artist builder who also did research for books on native American basketry. It was a former garage from older home ont he property. It was all done, 500 square feet, book shelves, a long run of kitchen cabinets and sink! 2 closets with bi fold doors! I was quick to fill it up as the small town had their own thrift store and interestingly though its a flannel shirt town semi retired let' say upper class from Los Angeles county have homes here too and donate unbelievable things! Its hard not to go check it out every day its open but I resist. But everyone kept asking me where I got my jean bags or even how my tops fit so well etc. So I have little part time business. Even finally taught one person to sew! I made my own boxes for the bookshelves from my letter size boxes I used to move my supplies from. I made my own covers but they are random colors. Want to redo but after watching only glue on the fabric type videos figured out Its just like a tote bag. Make a tube, cut bottom to match your box. I make the tube height twice the height and a couple inches more. Pull off the inner piece of the box that holds the flaps down and fold material inside then push that in. It also protects bottom of box and back to sturdy again! I made nice ones for my bathroom cubbies from drop cloth.

Great looking new room. For health and safety you should attach the Alex tower to the wall, it is too tall to be stable on castors. Perhaps you could put a catch on the tower to attach it to the wall most of the time for safety, allowing you to move it out of the way as necessary.
